The Packaging
Yesterday I got home off work and saw a Fedex note on my door that I had a delivery, sweet! All I had to do was wait until 6:30pm to go pick up the lights from their local warehouse/headquarters which was a really nice touch since there has been so many package thieves popping up lately on the news and such, I'm glad they held my delivery and didn't just leave it at the door . Time seemed to crawl while waiting for the time to pick up my lights, almost like when it was Christmas Eve as a child, and you can't wait to get to bed for Santa to come and presents to be waiting, the time would slow down to turtle speed. LOL
So upon getting home and quickly devouring a healthy meal of taco bell (yea I know its gross, but I was craving their strawberry starburst icey drink! LOL) I got to doing my unboxing video shooting (coming soon) and shot some photos of the packaging for anyone who was curious how these are boxed up when you receive them.
The box itself had been taped up really well, with nothing on the outside saying "LED grow light" so for those that were concerned with stealth or being discreet this was a big plus. The box did have a label with Budmaster LED on it, so for those that think this may be to "revealing" you may want to consider asking if there is a way to have it removed before shipment, but even with that being on there, it could really be any type of LED so for me and my care, it was absolutely fine.
Inside the main larger box, there was a box for each of the 2 GOD-4 LED panels, with a lining of bubble wrap on each opening end of the box which was a nice touch to add some extra padding for those roid popping fed ex guys pretending they are the hulk..LOL j/k thought it was funny imagery.
I got to opening the first inner box and again, bubble wrap lined each of the open ends of the box, followed by the light being surrounded at each of the 4 corners by very thick foam, and then a foam panel on each the top and bottom of the light to prevent any bumps or bangs from hurting the LED lights. Next to the light was the standard wire hangers, but the better quality ones that are a little thicker than some of the other cheaper ones I've received in the past, and they are rubber/plastic coated which is also a nice touch.
So for the packaging, very solid and a two green thumbs up
The Light Build and Features
Copied from the Budmaster Website
So upon inspecting the new Budmaster GOD-4 lights I was very impressed. The case design is very similar to the COB-X-4's that I am testing, with a lightweight but durable metal casing which is a triple coated steel casing which has a mirror coating and smooth finish to it. Lightweight but durable Plenty of ventilation holes are drilled in the case on all sides of the light which will make for excellent cooling, which is important for LED grow lights because a cooler running LED will last much longer and give a slight efficiency peak over hotter running LED's so a great feature on the lights. The only drawback of the cases is you want to be careful if you do any spraying of your plants as there are many ways moisture could get into the case with all the holes, but for those that are careful like me, I would much rather have a cool running LED anyday

Each light hosts 2 switches which control the power, each switch operates 2 of the 4 modules on the light so the lights can be turned to 1/2 power if needed, or with both switches on go full power. Next to the switches is the socket for plugging in the power cord and the cord fits tightly in the socket, with no wiggle room or play which is nice for a good worry free operation. On the side face of the light, you have the Budmaster hologram brand sticker "yield ahead" which I like a lot, maybe because I aways thought holograms were cool but its a nice feature vs some others that slap a cheap sticker on them One thing to mention is these LED panels do NOT have a daisy chain feature, so for each panel you will need a wall plug. I talked to Paul about why they didn't put daisy chain on the lights and he said that they didn't want to have people plug too many panels into each other or plug in other equipment which could cause fails so it makes sense to me, and I don't mind having a separate plug for each.
This LED light is a modular build which also is a great feature to have, in case of something breaking you can keep on growing and just replace the part that is needed quickly without having to send a light anywhere and all other modules continue to work which is a big plus in my book. Modular builds are the way to go Each module contains 1 PCB board lined with 25 OSRAM LED SSL80 horticulture LED chips, a custom pin style heat sink, a high quality and quiet running fan for active cooling, and a power supply/driver for each module as well (accessible from the back)
OSRAM SSL80 Diodes
The LED diodes are OSRAM OSLON SSL 80 diodes which are made specifically for horticulture, made to peak at all the absorption peaks for plants which is really awesome. I'm super excited about using a Osram panel because the OSRAM LED's are designed for 100,000 hours of use with minimal lumen depreciation <10% where as cheaper LED's like epistar will typically get a life of around 38,000-42,000 hours losing about >20% light by that time so these OSRAM chips will last about 2 1/2 times longer than the cheaper chips which is awesome! Also, Osram SSL chips are some of the best chips on the market for efficiency and will typically put out about 1 1/2 to 2x the light for the same wattage use over a cheaper epistar chip, which really shows you are making the most of your electricity in converting it to PAR light for your plants, very cool!
The Spectrum:
One very exciting thing for me is to try the Budmaster Spectrum, made up of entirely horticulture designed Osram Oslon SSL80 chips, these lights not only are bright, but have a lot of options of colors/wavelengths dedicated to plant absorption peaks. By the look of the panel, and referencing the data sheets, it looks like each module features of the 25 total diodes:
The blues (even though on the Budmaster site it lists only the use of Deep blue, to me it looks like they also use 1 of the regular blue chips from Osram as well)
2x deep blue 451nm Osram SSL80
1x blue 465nm Osram SSL80
The Reds
14x hyper red 660nm Osram SSL 80
4x 634nm Red Osram SSL80 chips
1x Far Red (IR) 730nm Osram SSL 80 (very cool they are using the NEW Osram IR chips!) most brands use epistar or LEDengine.
The White diodes consist of
1x 2400k Warm White Osram SSL80
2x Street white which range from 5500k to 7500K. To my eye it seems that they use 2 different color temps, but its really hard to tell if in fact it is 2 separate color temps or just 1.

All Budmaster II UK lights are now 'Manufactured in the UK' by the Budmaster team, most of the component parts are made within a 35 mile radius of our base in Mochdre, this gives us an incredibly low carbon footprint and of course helps to revitalize British manufacturing and exports. Budmaster models include the following features:
Made in the UK precision optics
Deep penetration.
UL approved super tough fire retardant material.
1.6mm thick, aluminium PCB light engine made in the UK.
ISO9001 and UL certified.
Wago and JST connectors.
UK Made custom pin fin heat sinks:
Faster heat transference and removal.
Fan mounted on each heat sink for greater redundancy and modularity.
Triple coated steel case with 'Mirror Chrome' finish and protective coating:
UV proof, water proof, grease proof, no oxidisation in marine environments.

Details on the light build from Budmaster's website:
A2B Plastics
A2B Plastics have been a family run business in North Wales for decades now and we were delighted to find that they had all the machinery and skills in house to produce our lens moulds, end caps and several other items.
Medical grade plastics for our optics with quantifiable materials and rugged hard plastics for our strip lights and other items, they can do it all.
Fox Metal Design
Fox Metal Design based in Flint North Wales (about 30 miles from our base) provide accurate and efficient CNC and other metalwork services.
A wealth of experience and all the latest machinery give them a competitive edge and a great finished product, everything is done in-house so the carbon footprint is very low.
Mark Water Pumps
Mark Water Pumps next door to our base in North Wales have been manufacturing car parts and many other mechanical assemblies for decades now and were the obvious choice when it came to forging our heat sinks.
Excellence is second nature to these guys who have been providing parts and components to big names such as 'Landrover', 'Jaguar' and 'Toyota' for decades.
The quality of their work and skill shines through in everything they do and we were delighted with the end product they have provided us.
Marl International
One of the reasons we picked Marl to manufacture our PCB is simply that they are the best that Europe has to offer. With highly skilled and conscientious staff at every level of their business they truly work as one large family all focused on led perfection.
Every step of every process is documented and tested thoroughly to comply with ISO 9001, CE, ROHS and CUL / UL legislations ensuring a 100% safe and quality end result. For example every single board that is produced for us is then tested in a purpose built jig to ensure high quality standards and then each board in each batch is allocated and assessed individually before being signed off by an experienced operator.
