That is a male. Milertm is right again. That is horrible if you bought it as a clone. It sure looks like a stud though. I wonder if they accidently gave you their keeper male? Just wandering in my mind.

It most likely wasn't an accident, they were a really shabby clone hoarders and distributers. The moment I walked in it was a small office in which looked like the 2 guys there "hung out in" like a poorly mistreated living room/office. When I walked into their flowering room I noticed instantly how sad the plants looked. Algae everwhere in their trays, and 1st clone I look at, spidermites. I pretty much wanted to turn around and leave, but I was after some GDP cuts and they had them...well that is what they told me over the phone. The GDP cuts they actually had were 3 sticks with tiny leaves on them.. hardly what to consider clones, and no roots. The rockwool plugs they used were green with algae and I was pretty pissed off I drove about 1/2 to some clone hack lab... I should have trusted my instinct and left but ended up picking up some clones anyways. I tried to isolate them to treat for spidermites and eventually eradicated them, but in the process lost the 2 little GDP sticks they gave me...

I bet if anything these guys just would pop seeds and take cuttings without even pheno selection or running the plants... there mother room was a complete mess too... it was fairly obvious they were young, and about the money, not actually being a legit place.

Yea I considered keeping it to seed some of my other strains, but since the genetics were unknown and unreliable I just used the leaves to compost in my soil bin.

Both of the Tangies look delicious. Noticed the #6 is much more dense than the #2's, and both smoke reports were like I was there.

Yea the phenos both were really good, I liked the flavor of both so far, Number #6 was definitely much more potent Hopefully will get another test up today

Hey Everyone...


Quick update...


The flowering tent...(Budmaster GOD's)

Things in the flowering tent are coming along nicely. All 7 plants now have shown flowers now and are starting to go full swing showing a lot of pistils popping at this time. The other day I yanked the Area 51 out of the tent because it was a male and so now I am left with 7 plants in the garden. Today I gave all the girls a nice dose of some Earthjuice tea I had bubbling for a few days and other than that just removed a few dead leaves I found on the plants in the lower areas of the plants near the soil. I think the foliar spray I gave them was a little too strong as the leaves that were all dead seemed to be a result of this, so I probably wont be doing any more foliar spraying of this tent since the girls are in bloom now. Other than that things look great and I will post some photos later today.


The veg tent (Budmaster COB's).
Well I made some changes to this tent as I decided to take down my 3rd grow tent for now. So with the removal of my 3rd tent, I moved my extra black cherry soda into my COB tent and decided that since I really liked my tangie pheno #3, I got rid of all the other ones (yea it was sort of a shame) but I was already very happy with #3 and it was my favorite in structure and overall looks and smell. I removed the 3rd tent because it took up a lot of room and was an eye sore in my living room so I can get by with 2 tents. Just too many plants and it seemed like with the extra room I kept on finding reasons to keep more and more plants instead of thin out the herd, so for now until I finish this flowering grow most likely I will just keep it down to 2 tents for now. I may decide in the future to put it back up for a seed project but I just want to focus on the strains I have first, and then make changes later on after this grow.

So now in my COB tent I have 7 plants (black cherry soda x2, black diamond og, fire og, blue dream, tangie #3, harlequin) and once my ogiesel roots I will be putting it in the tent as well in a smaller pot.

Other than that I gave each of the girls a small watering of the Earthjuice tea I had bubbling and thats about all for now.

Smoke Report: Tangie phenotype #3

So while growing this was probably my favorite plant as far as looks. The leaves on this one while growing were very very think, with very jagged ridges on them, and had a much darker color than the others in the leaves, with more shine to them as well.

I hardly had any problems with this one at all, it seemed to be tolerant to whatever I gave it, where as some of the others were a little touchy (mostly the tallest ones). It was a mid sized plant out of the bunch, not the heaviest yielder but still managed to get pretty much right in the middle of the plants at 46.9g where as the lowest not counting the early hermie was 40.4g and the highest was 60.6g...


The smell:
It had a very nice bud structure, a little foxtailing but not as bad as some of the others, and the smell was just extremely potent, very very stinky. While growing it had a smell of an asphalt/tar type smell with a little bit of sweet skunkyness to it, but not at all like the others which had a fruity/cheezy/sweet smell for the most part. This one just smelled completely different, Similar to plant 5.

When dried and broken up, holy cow! This one reaks.. Its smells of very strong tar/asphalt, but with good mix of garlic/green onion smell to it, a slight bit of sweet and a tiny bit of skunkyness to it. Mostly Tar/Asphalt garlic... No citrus or orange smell that I notice like the others had, but it may just be hidden behind the Tar/Asphalt/Garlic smell.


The Inhale:
So far this one was a little more harsher than the others on the initial inhale. The inhale is smooth, a slight throat hit feeling, but not a severe burn or anything, fairly smooth. The smoke on this one however is much heavier in the lungs and is not a rapid expansion, but definitely after a decent size hit the need to blow it out comes faster than the others, and I coughed on the 3rd hit. I took 3 hits as the other tests, one small one just to taste it, then 2 regular hits. There was not much taste that I noticed on the inhale initially, but after the smoke was in my lungs that same Asphalt/Garlic/sweet/skunky taste starts creeping up, almost with a green onion type flavor to it. Very different from most buds I have tried in the past, but I like it because its different.


The Effect:
Now with this one, I didn't feel an instant change but a more gradual change in the effect over time, and it actually seems to be getting stronger the longer I wait and as time goes buy. This one is completely clear in the brain for thinking, and typing and normal function is easy and not confused or distracted in the least. Not racy like the others. This one feels like it hits you more behind the sides of the eyes, and keeps them nice and open and aware. The feeling is definitely not as racy as the others and definitely a very functional high, but I do feel more of a "3rd eye" type awareness than the others, as if my hearing and feeling senses are enhanced a bit. "kind of like that feeling where you are alone in the dark in the woods where you seem to really be tuned into everything that makes noise or moves..
I guess that is the best way to describe it. This phenotype would be an amazing one for either daily use, working, hiking, writing, really anything project or creative based it would be excellent. Very interesting high, very interesting taste, I like it Glad I kept a clone of this one going

That's the Fire OG, typical OG type grow...tall and lanky and smells amazing I'm excited for this one to see how they perform under the GOD panels, and also since I've never flowered out the Fire OG or Black Diamond OG before so really curious how the genetics in them are

nice informative journal. i like the detail you get in there.

I wonder what your thoughts are on bigger grows with these panels?

i have spent the past year testing for a company. The lights are great, there is def promise for led panels. However the price of the panels make it completely unrealistic for a grow if any decent size in my opinion.

I think for tent grows and small hobby growers the panels are great as you only have to think about 1 or 2 panels. But a 5 x 5 metre room for example (which for me isnt a big space) would be costly to set up and wouldnt justify the cost.

Certainly from a commercial growers perspective i like to keep the cost of builds down as my overheads run into many thousands of pounds. I think until the panels can come in closer to the cost of hid lighting they will be a novelty item as it doesnt make sense to spend so much on a panel when there are cheaper alternatives that work.

My main gripe with LEDS was the thing about saving power. They didnt save me any at all. running 660w panels cost me the same as my HID lights and there was no difference in yield or quality. The plants showed diff characteristics under LEDS and i was certainly happy with the results but not enough to pay 1500 pounds per panel.

Great smoke report Ice! Tangie#3 sounds like real winner! That smell and flavour though dang I have to admit your description doesn't sound all that appealing lol. The high sounds amazing and must make up for the smell hehehe. Great job as always.

I have 2 phenos between the 3 plants. One seems to want to take longer to form its buds and its a different shade of green from the other 2. I hope that I get that really nice purple color out of one of these at least

When I was using HIDs I had doubled my electricity by having to pair them with the window AC. I only go up about 10 degrees now with LED so I cut my bill in half by not using AC. That was the only noticeable thing that saved me money. Plus not having to replace bulbs each year.

I see LEDs saving you money only in the long run, but you have to put more money up front plus have the right conditions. Like I have free heating included, so I save a bunch during the winter. But I guess in a place where its way hotter for most of the year and an AC is being used regardless, the savings would seem pointless unless you looked at the savings over say the next 10 years.
