Hey Arteekay! Yea I have tried all kinds of drying methods and since I have so many harvested at 1x, I just cut their stalk and hung them upside down. I've done wet trimming, and budwashing, and all kinds of methods and only done the drying with leaves 1 other time, but it turned out really nice so I decided to leave the fan leaves on. I will pull them off once the buds are dry and ready for jarring as well as trim/manicure them :)

Drying and curing I think is one of the most difficult things for me to get right, and I am still working on perfecting it to balance bag appeal and smoothness. My favorite is to jar the buds slightly moist and slowly burp out the last 10% or so of moisture, as it makes for really tasty buds, but also the buds dull in color and aren't as ascetically bright looking, as they are when drying them fully then jarring them. But the slow burping really makes for a very smooth and tasty smoke. I'm still working on the perfect balance too :)

Thanks so much Ice, very happy to get your perspective.

We're growing for personal use only, so bag appeal means very little to us. My plan was to trim off most or all of the fan leaves before anything else, and take branches fairly well trimmed and hang those. Mostly that was for photos for my journal though and of course the quality of what we get is far more important.

That should work fine for you as well, the most important thing is making sure the buds slowly dry and don't dry out too quickly. Keeping the RH up around 60% is very helpful and limiting the amount of "breeze" or airflow also helps, just making sure the air is exchanged enough to prevent mold but not fast enough to dry the plants out too fast. Usually drying takes for me at least about 5-7 days before they are ready for jars :)

Quick update on the vegging plants:

As I prepare to finish up this harvest and clear the tent for my next grow I am just letting the plants that will be going into this tent veg and they are doing really well. Also as soon as I move the plants over to the new tent for the next Budmaster grows, I will be cloning the 4 tangies I will be flowering to keep the genetics going, as well as the Ogiesel which will also be getting flowered out.

Yesterday I prepared their feeding and I wanted to focus on my old regiments for high brix results so I got 5 gallons of water filtered and added:

40 ml of 2-4-0 hydrolyzed fish
30ml of 2-3-1 hydrolyzed squid
40 ml of 1-1-2 12/2% cal/mag
10 ml of 0-10-0 10% cal humboldt bloom (soft rock phosphate)
yucca extract

I fed all the girls today as well as gave them a foliar feeding of the above mixture which smells horrible, but I know the plants love it :)

I didn't take any photos tonight because its late and I'm sleepy so tomorrow if I have some time I will get some photos of the girls in veg and post them :)

Hey Everyone...

So the tangies are hanging and still drying out, probably will be at least until monday before they are ready to trim up. I've managed to keep the humidity around 45% which is about the ambient right now, and I will add some wet towels to the tent tonight to raise the RH% up even higher because I would prefer that they sit around 65% while drying. They plants are still very moist and fresh at this time so they definitely have about 4 or more days of drying left :)

Here is some photos of the Budmaster GOD tent, which is almost ready to flip to flowering. I will be flipping it after I trim the tangies and move the small vegging plants from my 3rd tent, over to the COB tent. This will free up my 3rd tent to take clones of the vegging plants that I do not already have copies of and get them started to keep the genetics going for now.

I sprayed the plants yesterday with the fishy smelling tea I bubbled over the last 2 days last night, and the plants really seemed to be happy looking today upon lights on :)

And per our roots and pot discussion from the other day, I had promised I would take some photos of the roots of the tangies before recycling the soil into my soil bin. I actually did a good job with my watering by the looks of it as the soil was full of nice thin root hairs, and near the stem was very very thick water roots :)

I can't wait to try all the different phenotypes and see which is best and which are not going to make the cut :) I should be able to sample all of them when dry enough to determine which are keepers and which aren't before I put their clones into flowering so I may move them around, subtract 1 or 2 or even replace them with other strains. I love that purple one though, however on smell I and frostiness there were a few others that top it, so it will have to be very good to keep her around :)

I hear you Ice, it's all in the smoke. I had a purple jack that was the most beautiful plant. Looked and smelled phenominal. Covered in crystals and had that rubber skunk smell that was so strong a nickel bud would smell up the entire house. Long story short, it wouldn't get a mouse high. There was an initial head rush that lasted about 5 minutes and then poof it was gone lol.

A true keeper for me has to be medicinal as well as tasty.

I've had the same thing happen to me as well. I had some random clone that I believe was some type of kush a while back, the plant ran great and grew some amazing looking buds, but it just didn't really do the trick. I even ran it a few times to check if it was something I did but it always looked great but when it came down to the smoke it just wasn't there.

My harlequin which will be part of my next grow (under the COB's) is a 1:1 THC:CBD and the high is very mild, but the CBD effects are outstanding. Last time I had some harvested I had a major pinch in my back and smoked a few hits and within about 15 minutes the pain was completely gone, almost like magic :) love those high CBD strains :)
