Hypo Hippy's first indoor grow

Thanks for stopping in Spike....ours tend to wilt late in the afternoon and are perky again in the morning. Weird. The only two that wilt are the two that have been LST'd. Scratching head here. Anyhow, great looking grow you got going on over there. Thanks

Wilting or drooping is normal after watering. As the leaves draw water in the become heavy and droop. Also if they are too dry they will wilt. Feel some of your larger fan leaves when they appear wilted. If the feel thick and strong they are healthy and full of water. If they feel thin and fragile they are too dry and need water more frequently. The photos you show they look nice and healthy to me.

Tried to +rep you, but you know. PS, try growing some seeds for your bird - he will love you for ever!

S-Nuts,
Thanks for dropping in my man. I will try to post some pics of the plants when they are drooping. It is most definitely not an "all-the-time" problem, but this morning they were still droopy so I am concerned. Our soil mixture is very porous so I am a little perplexed. This is happening after our first real heavy flush, so it must be part of the problem.

if the wilting is all the time -worry- but if once and awhile its normal.

tiger I'm trying to get seeds for myself, she just bites me and licks the blood.
put a stop to that right away.

Guys...before today they only wilted in the evening late....just before lights out. Today was the first day they (only our stretched out LST'd plants) looked wilty in the morning. We are going to put them in 5 gal pots with a layer of pea gravel in the bottom to ensure excellent drainage. I know in my heart that drainage is not the problem. This soil mix we are using is very porous. We even added @25% more perlite to the mix. Very frustrating....especially since our two confirmed females are in the wilting group. Crazy beetches are droopy looking and need to get their act together...lol. This is perplexing to say the least.

Will do later today...not at home now. Hopefully when I get back they won't be wilting anymore, but if they are I will get some shots. Will take photos either way. Thanks for the interest....hopefully just a temporary dip in an otherwise stress-free grow.

How's the pH? Any unusual shifts?

TH..no the pH has been consistently in the low 6's (runoff). The other thing is that only the new growth is wilted. The older stuff is in good shape.

No worries bro.

I've experienced this phenomenon. In my first grow.
They are just going to sleep for the night. My plants used to droop, fan leaves
laid almost on main stem then in morn as timer kicked on light not even 15 min.
and they were standing at attention again. I used to look forward to it, these
plants show so much personality. It's just amazing.:yummy:
Try if possible moving lights a little closer to LST plants.

:goodluck: Hope it helps
Pics please.

Thanks Aprentice.....yeah we are seeing from funky stuff from these plants and each one is different. The biggest reason I am more concerned is the fact that the wilting has persisted. Hopefully it is better now, but until this afternoon I won't know. I will be posting some new pics this evening. Thanks for stopping by.

Hypo, good day my friend, Below, I just threw down some simple ideas or possibilities that happen to growers all the time. But being laid out in front of you as a list may help jog your memory about something related. Meaning in other words, do not take offense! Just stuff all of us can do.

Do you have sufficient drainage for your excess water.

No trapped water.

What about when you water or feed, do you water slowly and completely or do you give them a little here and there.

If they recover from the wilt after a watering do they stay that way until the soil starts to dry.

Are you watering to often?

Excessive heat in the room or under the lights

Disclaimer! Warning:, Anything i might say may be totally untrue as I was most likely high when I thought of it! :bong:

Ok guys. I know y'all are going to think I am a total dumbass, but I am going to dance around this and try not to look too silly. I think I may have misspoken or misdiagnosed my plant's problems. Wilting is probably not the right word. Yes, it looks wilted, but in retrospect I think the more proper wording would be "curled." The leaves on three of our plants....Lucille, Gladys and Matilda are all curled at the ends. After closely examining them this afternoon (and looking back over all of our photos from seedling to now) these three plants have exhibited some leaf curling on their new leaves previously. Looking at the plants from top to bottom the leaf-curling trait progressively gets better as the leaves mature and is almost non-existent on the big, mature sun leaves.

I think that as the plants change their growth habits from vegetative under the MH light to flowering under the HPS light this characteristic is exaggerated. I will attach a few pics of the plants and you can clearly see what I am talking about.

Here is a shot of Matilda in all her droopy splendor. Have y'all seen this trait in your plants? The leaves aren't wilting, but they damn sure look weird. Let me know.

Here is Lucille....same bullcrap as Matilda with the weird looking leaves. Looks like the talons of some huge raptor fixing to snatch something up. (or maybe I am not altogether sober) lol

Here is a pic of Matilday in her new 5 gal home. I couldn't believe how thick and almost rootbound these plants were in the 3 gal pots in just 37 days. Amazing.

This is Gladys....another confirmed female. These plants overall look healthy. I think I got freaked out because the leaf curling kinda intensified at the same time as our big flush. I don't think it was related, but I kinda knee-jerked.

Have you guys seen this before in your plants? Is this a normal trait under flowering conditions...especially under HPS lighting? Funny that Daisy and Broomhilda aren't doing this, but they are completely different looking plants with more of a compact growth habit.:thanks:

Alright guys....help a bro out. I was hoping to get a few hits on this tonight (so I don't toss and turn all night) lol. Anyhow, any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks Wood....I panicked a little and mistook curling for wilting I guess. It does look like wilting, but I think the plants are doing fine. I have never done the indoor grow thing and to tell the truth my last grow was many, many years ago and outdoor and that plant was on its on and looked like a 9 foot Christmas tree with BIG buds on it. I didn't spend near the time, energy or money on that plant. These plants have taken a lot of all three if you know what I mean.

It's like having children! Mine seem like they are not sure what to do (the plants).

You may want to raise the PH and try to sweep the ranges 6.3-6.8.. You may be seeing the beginning signs of locking out mag. Keep an eye on them and don't stress... You are in good hands here... :ganjamon:
