Wildjim. I am glad you found your way here also. I remember how excited I got when I found these threads. It is already paying off in 2 short weeks. And Yep I only cooked 1/2 oz. Since it was my first time to cook the oil, I did not want to make a mistake on a bigger batch. Also since my husband was starting the oil for the first time, we started with only 1 grain rice size a day split into 2 doses. So of course as we work up to his needed amount it will take a whole lot more. I am also on my first grow and will not get to harvest for 5 or 6 more weeks. I don't know yet how long this strain will take as it is a mystery seed so she has the name I gave her which is Lilly. Like you, I have done some bad things to Lilly since she was only a seed but she is a real trooper and hung in there for me while I learned. All her baby clones are doing wonderful!! My husband got to test one of her buds and he loved it. It was a clone that I put immediately into 12/12 to sex Lilly, so she was about 4 inches tall with 2 small buds when I accidentally dropped her on her head/bud and she broke. I didn't think it would be very strong yet but he said it was and he loved the flavor. I told him forget about smoking it, I am going to make it all the oil I can and bath him in it. lol
Oh and for your question of if the flowers need to be cured. Motoco answered that for us a few posts back. It is a nice detailed answer. What I do remember was the bottom line was that it needed to be dried and cured to the point that the stem breaks/snaps cleanly. He likes a longer curing process as it can increase potency but in our case where we don't have the time to wait, I believe he said about 2 wks after harvest and the stem snaps cleanly. Then to make sure there is no more moisture left in your flowers before you freeze it spread them out on a cookie sheet for a couple of hours and keep them covered also. I'm sure Motoco will let you know if I got any of this wrong.
Hope this helps
