Horse's Crawlspace Grow

oh my,
gin and tonic? thats ok guys, i'll just pull up a chair and join in, i know you meant to invite me...lol...gee that sounds good...havent had one for yrs...
just passing thru, thanks for the info on the ph up and down...have some but scared of it...everyone says it is really radical and to just use a drop...any ideas, is it really that scarry? also, silly question, but how do i use that adjustment ck, the 4 and 7? it is 7 i think....have all the instruments but when the directions said to calibrate, i just put them back in the box and there they sit...never used...have an aeroponics system, and large auto cloner, out in garage, never touched...scared to death of them...it all started sounding to technical, and dirt was familiar...so i just do dirt...chicken i guess...thanks for all the help you all....hugs, lavendar:peacetwo:

High Lavendar, the bar is always open for you, and we don't have to drink in the crawl space :)

The pH pen is easy as pie. I just put some pH 7 buffering solution in a shot glass ( it's okay, it looks like toilet bowl cleaner, so you shouldn't be tempted to drink it!), turn on the pen, and stick it in. When the readings settle down, use the little screw driver to adjust the reading to 7. Let it sit a bit, and readjust if you need to.

After your finished, turn it off, and rinse it with some tap water. Distilled or RO'd water will screw up the glass sensor. I just keep it in the shot glass, and top off the solution as it evaporates.

Can't help you with the aeroponics or auto cloner.

Thanks for dropping in ;)

:peace:

I meant to ask you if you've ever grown Pure Power Plant, and what were you're experiences???

the reason is that it's more acidic, and helps clean any goobers (yes, that is a technical term....Goobers) that might get stuck on the electrode.

Dang, I oughta dip my grandson in 4.0... that doode is nothing but goobers ;-)

I thought I had the pH thing down, apparently not. I put the pen (Milwaukee 600) in the 7.0, calibrate, then put in in the 4.0 it reads 4.7. Stick it in 4.0 and calibrate, then go to the 7.0, it reads 6.4. So, it's about 2.35 off. WTF?

I cleaned all the shot glasses, rinsed the pen w/ distilled h2o... is the pen forked up, is this normal, should I adjust by 1.2. or whut?

Also, is the Hannah of which you speak, auto calibrating, or do you tweak it with a screw driver. Reason I ask is the screwdriver is sort of a pain. I like just pushing buttons :rasta:

Sorry if I'm bugging you, but hey, I've gotta be better than spider mites :)

Thanks brotherman.

I had to get the lights out of the way to spray some neem and azamax. I might have seen some spider mites. FMUTB.

I've got neem oil. It doesn't seem to mix very well with water. Is there a trick using it? Do I need to mix in a little soap (Meyers) for a surfactant?

I pushed on, and rigged up the Panasonic fan to cool the 1000w HPS, and do double duty exhausting the tent. Big and bulky, but I am always amazed at just how quiet their fans are. 1.4 sones.

I'm worried, but what's new. I want to ScroG, but there's not a lot of head room. The girls seem pretty healthy. I'd like to put 4 of them in there, but 2 or 3 could probably fill the 43" x 43" screen. I've got no idea how much Power Plant will stretch... but I've definitely got fixed a ceiling.

I am open upon open to any suggestions, no matter how baked you are :smokin:

EDIT: be very carefull not to fuck up the caliration with your screwdriver! those are very weak! light and easy!!! Whe it stops turning at all, its done. no more turning......

The reason for the pH 4 & 7 calibration solution is that the farther you go from the pens calibration number the more 'drift' it has. So if you have an acid loving plant which your testing pH for (like blueberries or violets) you'd want to calibrate to 4. that way your calibrating closer to what the pH should be for that species. With CANNABIS :cheertwo: you will calibrate to 7 since you are most likely going to be using a pH of 5.8 to 6.8. Also remember that these pens are regularly used for chemistry and they also make a 10.0 calibration solution for testing high pH of Pharmaceutical drugs. Now there is some debate with using a pH tester en with Coir since your supposed to run a lower pH, but I still prefer a 7'0 calibration personally. Just my 2 cents.

P.s. If you would like to have more control over your grandson You would probably be best dipping him in more of a BASE type solution. For best results Dunk that punk about 4 - 5 times and check his persona, re apply if neccissary. lol

Happy grandfathers day to you my friend!! My Kids are eing extra special fucked up for me today. lol Got up at 5:30 for one, and no naps. Holy shit they are bad. I gave them a shitload of candy to get them up and then down for bed. The crash is great if used wisely. WOOHOO!!:cheertwo::cheertwo:
The rest of the night is mine and the missus. Almost forgot what to do with ourselves. lol

Hope that helps man!!! You cant get better info exept from the manufacturer!!! Guarenteed.!!!

Just my opinionl , but I like to keep about 2' overhead for the stretch, they will grow after the stretch, but only about 6-8" usually. I guess it's strain dependant. you can always LST or crimp if need be. If you get too tall and need some help just let me know, I know alot of height reducing tricks for last minute training, and I'm very confident of my fellow 420ers too!!! We'll get this thing dialed. Half of the problem is that I have no Idea what strain your running, and even if I did, thats taking the breeders word for it, and they are salesman if their commercial. I think I'm going to change that soon, but I hope that I dont get assassinated for it. lol

bybe man!

j.l.
you are devious....candy huh? never tried that....duct tape worked well tho...lol...j/k...

horse....
try bush master...look it up on the internet...stops vertical growth, used it several times....be sure to read the instructions tho...the only one it didnt work on was the jack h. and im sure that was my fault...just used it tonight on some plants in bud....they were getting too tall...later, oh, and drown those things in azomax...top and bottom...til they drip, and give them 2 hrs to dry before you put in the lights again....guess you might put a weak fan to speed it up, but it would defeat the purpose of soaking and letting them drip dry...i did that every other day for nearly 6 wks....knock wood, they left...the lights will burn them if too wet....also spray the dirt....later, lavendar:thumb:

Candy is really the first defense.after that I get technical! MUAHAhHAHahHAHAHHaHAaaahAAhaaaa!

Really though, I'm thinking Lavendar has a point. That gravity will work wonders! th only grudge That I have about it is that if you use it on your first go around with this strain then how will you ever know what your strain is capable of without hormones?

EDIT!!!!: So take a clone to veg as a backup before you bloom your original.
:hmmmm::hmmmm:

yes, i agree with j.l on that, my first time thru, i was totally overwhelmed, the next few times i tied them on the web in the back of the room, then i started super cropping and really bending and such, i think now, i do a little of all of it....the plants i did today, had been super cropped several times, but are now approaching the light, and i want grow room....later, lavendar

Re: Horse's Crawlspace Grow.

Whatever it is, it seems pretty hardy. It has resisted every one of my assassination attempts. I still it's pretty funny that while most seed catalogues/descriptions are word for word the same, they can't agree on the indica/sativa thing.

The ones that say it's indica dom are wrong. I research the hell out of any strain I'm planning to grow, and it's definitely mostly sativa.

The pool is just a catch basin. Since we went on the 3x/day feeding schedule, I've only been pumping it out once a day, but I don't let it get above the damnit hole.

We are going to the coast over the 4th of July, so I had been toying with the idea of filling the pool above the drain hole. If anyone has anymore thoughts on that, I'd love to hear them.

I think it would work fine except that evaporation would increase the strength of the solution, so I would mix it up at half-strength to prevent any burning.

One of the funky things about the pool is run off residue. The FF Big Bloom worm castings stick to the bottom. Once the girls are ScroGged, it'll be impossible to clean it.

In general, I think "clear" nutes like GH flora series work better for both hydro and passive hydro. Anything thick or that has sediment tends to gum up the works.

h.b.
the power plants are several...could be ppp or pp or tp...so the only thing i saw that was in common is they all are indica-sativa, with sativa traits....hope this helps...lavendar...
you'll have to do containment if it is really seriously sativa...i like sativa but alot of people hate to grow it....you'll have room if you do it right...mine is 7 tall, with lites, about 5.5? so i start out serious with the sativa's....alot of topping, fim, bending, s.c., all of it...whatever it takes....sometimes they really dont like it...i have never raised a pp tho...BUT, here we go again, I do have a seed...lol...later:goodluck:

Horse - you've got it goin' on dude! Finally got up to date with your thread. It really looks like you're doing a great job.:bravo:
The tent looks excellent (+Rep!). Can't wait to see how that works for you and how those babies progress!

DocBud's been trying to keep me on the straight and narrow (it's never been my strong suit :) )

I really like the looks of the big chunky perlite you've got. The shops in my area don't carry anything but the relatively fine stuff and it's crazy expensive for them to order the #4 (would you believe $40 a bag!). I'll have to find a place to order it from if I try another hempy grow. At least I know plenty of things not to do now! (talking about the stupid crap I've done - you're doing great and your plants are showing it).

I'll be tuned in here for sure!
:goodluck:

bybe man! I'd like a double Gin today, got the Tangueray?

JL, Sorry for the journal slakitude, but this has been one of those weeks. Thanks for the pen info. I think I get it.

Another thing in the mix... when I fill a bucket with my well water, it reads 5.7-9. I let a bucket sit over night, it reads 6.8. The girls seem happy, so I'm focusing on other issues.

I think this strain is Pure Power Plant. The lady I got the seeds from is a little spacey, but that what she recalls. She stopped by today with 2 Jack Herer clones, and a white widow. We wuz smoking her flo... so, maybe none of this is right :grinjoint:

Thanks for the father's day wishes, hope your's was as good as mine... I got beer! Tasty change of pace, ummmm.

I put baking soda in the kid's pool, but I think all the pee is fightin' it :)

Hey, how 'bout a martini night???

Thanks for the help :peace:

I'm checking out that Bush Master. I'm going back and forth on other lights besides the 1000w MH/HPS. I tried it in the tent today... it's frickin 90° in there without plants and water, and the dirt floor hadn't been cooked. On 12/12, I'm guessing the floor may not be an issue... but that guessing get's me every time:grinjoint:

Thanks for checking up on me :peace:

Re: Horse's Crawlspace Grow.

It does have have sorta fatty indica leves. It may not be pure pure pure plant either. It's a healthy, tough, vibrant strain, whatever it is.

Yeah, I messed up with the bat guano/ earthworm stuff. So, today, I took the girls out to the water park. Cleaned that crap oof their buckets, flooded them with water until every thing was floating, took the pool out and scrubbed it... and then I'm going to the store tomorrow, and check out some of the GH 1 part stuff to supplement the OC+. I went pretty light on it.

Thanks for 1/2 nute thing if I fill over the 2" line. I'm going away for the 4th, along with the only other person who could stop in for some support. We''ll see, now that they're kinda clean

:peace:

<Great journal. Great setup. Gonna be a sick scrog for sure! Nothing helpful to add - just keep up the good work!>

Hey Papa, my quote button seems stuck?

Hope you had a good time Phishin' ;)

How many plants would you try in a 43" x 43" scrog? I have 5 pretty finalists, but I'm thinking I'd be pushing it... maybe 4, tops?

And, yeah man, them Lakers done good... plus, I'm betting you're all forked up after your soccer hit list!

Thanks for crawling in :grinjoint:
