High Brix

"LESS, More Often" be a better approach to keeping the soil mineralized and the soil activity up?

This is what I ended up doing on my last grow, I overdosed them with tea and they ate it all up. I had to add it all back slowly and it came out amazing. I transplant usually 2x in a grow and added at each in my current grow and they are doing very well. Just my 2 cents

Gtabbed a couple quick pics yesterday. The shine is really starting in the latest transplants, even under HPS you can get the reflection.

I think I'm observing that our favorite plants require a bit more potassium than regular vegetables, sort of like mellons and squashes. The buds are plenty dense, ridiculously frosty and nice to look at, but they seem a bit smaller than usual. Potassium will bulk them up, but it also lowers brix. They still have at least two weeks, so I'll wait till then to say for sure. But there is an easy fix if I need to up the potassium next run.

Here are a couple nugs from the last harvest.

Great looking photo's as usual Doc!!
I have noticed that my leaves are like mirror's too, it's really amazing. Your bud there is nice and frosty and dense, bet it tastes amazing...what strain is that again, I might have to go to local and get some for taste-o-vision's sake.

That's Lemon Paki, and I don't think you'll find it at your local. If you do, please let me know! It's a really fun plant to grow, with powerful, great tasting smoke. The effect is very much like OG Kush harvested at 9 weeks, just a bit stronger than the typical OG, but also very warm and comfortable. It's a sunshine weed for sure.

I think the only lemon Paki I would find here is if I threw a lemon at a 7-11 clerk...But sunshine weed is fantastic, it looks fantastic!!!

those look fantastic even better concidering the light. keep it up

i had white fluffy mould on the top of the soil in 2 of my pots, i was also told this is beneficial and wont harm the plant, but i found the soil was to moist, so i let it dry out more and the white mould vanished and never came back, i think moisture played a big roll in the problem i had, i just watered less often and the problem did not come back at all

Yup. Overwatering will kill plants even faster than not watering at all.

i hear you on that mate, the problem i had was the plants where in big pots to early and i was watering as often as i normally water but because the plants where still small they was not using all the water in the soil so it was getting over watered, then this white fully mold grew on top and i was told it was just stuff breaking down and it was not a problem as it was good and showed the soil was alive, but i stopped watering and it vanished and never came back, my plants did not suffer, but lesson learned,

2 Weeks to chop. These are the first true High Brix plants to be harvested.

Only minor tweaks remain! I'm going to add a small amount of K-Mag (sul-po-mag or Langbenite) to the mix. This will add a long-release source of magnesium and potassium. I really don't want the potassium, but this is a better option than epsom salts for magnesium, as it is less available to the plant and gives the microbes more work to do....lazy SOB's.

The potassium may lower brix a bit, but it will also increase yield. I have no bug pressure, no mold, PM or any other issue on this grow, so if brix goes down a bit I think I'll be OK for now.

Current brix readings are 17-18 after 2 hours of light.....lower fan leaves. I took a reading a few days ago and got all excited with a 22 reading, but then I realized that I had sprayed 2 hours prior and the brix was sky high from the spraying. Without spraying (the other 6 days of the week) brix is about 17-18. Anything over 12 and bugs and disease isn't a problem.

Looking good! That jack herrer has my attention! Lol

I'm also quite interested in the Jack. I've grown it 5 times now, and never had it turn colors like this. The buds are more dense than ever before as well....but not as large. I'm not sure how dry weight will be effected, and I'm perfectly OK with a lower yield if it means higher quality!

However, I suspect that our plants require just a bit more K and Mg than tomatos and other vegetables....much like melons and squash perhaps. Then again, maybe in the next two weeks they'll bulk up a bit and dry weight will be in line with other soil mixes.

Ive never had the pleasure of growing Jack but your plant is beautiful. I hope they bulk up so you dont lose the yield.

Me too! I'm looking at 3 oz on that purple plant, about 2.5 on the other Jacks. I usually get about 20% more than that, but then these buds are more dense than normal, so maybe the yield will be fine. We'll know in about 3 weeks.

Yield concerns aside, these are by far the best plants I've ever grown and I'm going to predict it's the best smoke I've ever grown.

Man Doc, I think I got a bit light headed when I looked at those, as if I had just blown out a bong rip....hmmm
Amazing plants bro!!! How amazing those look knowing how easy of a grow it was. Good work bro!!!

It really wasn't too difficult at all! Mixing the soil was the hardest part. Everything else is basically watering with straight RO, (adding CalMag in the future) feeding every 2 or 3 weeks, and spraying.

The sprays take maybe 30 seconds to make, about 5 minutes to spray. Less work than anything except straight OC+, but far better results than anything I've seen so far.

I'm sitting here watching a small container of water on my desk that I put upside down, on its side, etc. trying to see if it will leak. It's just the right size for nutrient drenches and foliar sprays for the kit I'm working on.

So, basically, I'm 3-6 weeks away from mailing out kits and then anyone can duplicate what I'm doing here, presuming they can control the environment.

I wish you could touch the Cherry Pie. It's feels greasy, not sticky. Then, after about 5 seconds it feels like hair gel on your fingers, then glue. I plucked a lower bud and stuck it to the wall. It was still stuck to the wall after 15 minutes. I've not had anything resembling the resin production I've enjoyed on this run. I fantasize about using some Snow Storm....but I'm gonna hold off until I get more info about safety.

These buds can be smoked/vaped/ingested safely, with total confidence that there is nothing un-natural or harmful added. No chemical ferts, no pesticides, no mold or mildew. There are a few mites, but no leaf damage, and NO SPRAYING!

very nice mate, does the jack have that amonia cat piss smell, not in a bad way but the jack flash i used to smoke 10 years ago used to stink the place out, and it was the best smoke i ever had, the smell was totally amazing
