Hempy Headquarters

The list of tricks Tead has tried is really long. Hell... you can do it in just black plastic bags. Most of the year, my humidity is WAY high enough to clone just fine without a humidity dome. Life in the swamps has it's drawbacks, but cloning is not one of them.

Ah, yeah that's right. Out here in the desert we have a hard time getting over 20% RH.

Yup.... tried lots of tricks. This worked great, but was hard to get the clones out, so I just use the tubes these days.

Hello All,

I'm Logan, and I've read and skimmed through the entire thread up to now, and you all seem like some very wonderful and very knowledgeable people. I've seen some very interesting things discussed! Particularly the Osmocote Plus grows I've seen, and of coarse, Hempy!

I'm very new to growing, only started in September of last year, and have only had one successful grow so far (a white widow auto). My biggest struggles have been with figuring out the nutrients needed to support these plants, and lack of humidity, as I live in the desert. Solved the humidity issue recently with a pretty solid humidifier. Hoping maybe I'll be able to figure the rest out in this thread from re-reading and chatting with all of you.

Please excuse the blurple. I have several Hempy's that I have going right now, all coming along nicely so far. I'm using the GH flora series by way of the Lucas formula for nutrients, 5ml micro/10ml bloom/3ml calmag (per gallon), PH'd to 5.8. My garden is currently limited to a 4x2x5 vivosun tent, under 2x Mars Hydro 300's, running a carbon filter, a couple fans, humidifier, etc.

Anyway, I hope you're all doing well and I look forward to chatting with all of you!

Good morning herbie and Goldylox and welcome to this fine forum. You guys must have very hi IQ's as not only did you come to the best resource and community, but more specifically, you came to Sweetsue's thread, and I can ASSURE you.......Sweetsue is like that ALLSTATE insurance slogan....."Your in good hands with ALLSATE" Again, welcome, and enjoy this magnificent community/forum. :welcome::420:

Hey @Goldylox, nice plants! I really like the method you're using for cloning, really nice root development. I've been practicing/experimenting with some cloning, and this seems like it would be a helpful method. For the tub you have the clones in, did you make a hole in the side, or just filled with Perlite? Also, do you cover it with any sort of dome?

I did put a small hole in the tub for the clones. I watered it two times in the 14 days they were taking root, there's a decent amount of water retained and thy don't seem to use very much. The bottom 2" is full of hydroton so I didn't need to use as much perlite, they wouldn't be in there very long anyway. I covered it with one of the Rubbermaid food storage containers and it fit real nice around the outside. I use just a powder form of rooting hormone I get at lowes/HD and put them in rapid rooters and straight into the bucket.

This is similar to what I was getting at earlier about using a storage bin. I'll have to spend some time at Lowes seeing which bins fit over which..

This and Teads method are very similar, but I really like what you did with the bin over the top. .

Hey all, I have a question. I watered my hempys that are in solo cups this morning, as they all felt empty as far as water goes. The problem though, is now they're both showing signs of over watering, meaning the leaves are all drooped down, but are healthy in appearance. Previous to watering they were perky.

My question is, is this normal? Or is there something I may be doing incorrectly?

In my most recent batch, I mixed up 1 gallon RO water, 5ml micro, 5ml bloom, and 3ml calmag, and PH'd to 5.8. Watered til 30% run off each time.

Planted in 100% perlite solo cup hempy, 1x1 rock wool starter in there also.

Anyone else seen this issue?

My only idea is that although it's been drinking quickly (dried out the cup over night), the likely larger root mass may be holding more moisture for longer? I had just watered last night before work, then watered this morning when I got home about 10 hours later.

They look too big for that cup....time to up pot

Probably was really thirsty when u watered her

Yeah, I was planning to do that tonight or tomorrow morning.

I have a few seedlings doing the same too, definitely not root bound.

I'll transplant the bigger ones tonight and cut my nutrient concentration in half as a precaution.

Little ones shouldn't need watering for a few days still. I wonder if the rock wool could be causing them to be too wet also. Is it not a good idea to water rock wool directly?

I've never used it but many say rock wool is bad. Either to wet it too dry

Root Riot seems a lot better

Maybe someone else will chime in on the rock wool

Just checked on the plants, and I’m also seeing the new growth as coming in with a reddish color to it.

I’ve had this happen to a few of my attempts so far, and I have never been able to figure out what’s happening. Everything will be growing nicely, then I start seeing drooping (which seems to stay in the form of what I've seen referenced as "eagle clawing"), red stems, and red leaves/leaf edges. It's extremely frustrating, as I've lost a purple kush, and am losing 2 other plants to this so far. I just have no idea what I'm doing wrong.

I saw mention somewhere that “eagle clawing” indicates over feeding, but not sure if that’s true. I definitely wouldn’t write it off as the reason, but i just don’t know.

I've flushed one of my Solo hempys with plain bottled water for now. Will see if that shows any improvement, but hopefully someone has experience with something like this.

They stay up well unsupported. I blow into the hempy hole to inflate the bag once I have it all put together.

What an excellent idea! Reps. :kisstwo:

Put in some work this evening, veg room is mostly done minus a door and ventilation all the pvc feed and drains have been leak tested so they are finished

That is just freakin' cool! :high-five: This is gonna be fun to watch. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Herb, you mentioned Rockwool, but I'm seeing what looks like Rapid Rooters in the picture. Which are you using?

My first inclination was to ask what your ambient temps are in the space your plants are drooping in? Not sure if that's relevant, but I've learned to listen to the impulse. If you can't figure it out post on FAQ. Somewhere is your solution.

There is one seedling and a clone in jiffy pellets, but the rest are rock wool -> Hempy. Ambient temps range from 70-86 currently, humidity from 40-60 RH. I picked up some Osmocote Plus, so if I can't figure it out, maybe I'll just attempt that. I have a nagging feeling it has to do with nutrients.

When I get it all up and running I will start a Journal and keep you guys and gals updated in here as well! Surprisingly I've got less mo eh in this so far than my 3x3 setup I started out with. 2x4's, panda film, and pvc are cheap!

I like the towel idea, thanks!

I should have taken pictures of the sticky traps. I killed thousands of the damn gnats and just couldn't eradicate them. Problem solved in an hour when I converted to hempy. Just for that reason I may not go back. Lol

Been there BigBear. I know the frustration. :laughtwo: I still do half my grow in soil, but it's with Doc Bud's HB kit, and that doesn't typically come with critters. Lol! I've never had a gnat problem in an HB Kit pot.

Welcome to the wonderful world of hempy. :hugs: I left the Osmo Plus behind for much more expensive nutrients, and the results keep me spending that money. Lol!

Oh guys, I don't believe I did a harvest report on my last couple hempy plants. I had a string of stellar hempy harvests starting in early December.

Then there was Devil's Carnival 1.2 to ring in the new year.

And finally, I jarred up Carn 4.4 the other day. She dried for two weeks in the fridge and now she's at a stable 62 %.

Hempy has been very, very good to me. :blunt:
