That’s a great starting dose to build up from.
:ganjamon:
Their feeding chart goes up to 6 grams / gallon at week 5 of flowering. The last time I fed the Colombian Gold female in flowering I upped her nutrients to 5 grams / gallon and it burned her leaf tips a bit. So back to 4.5 grams I have supplemented in flower with some FoxFarms Open Sesame, Beasty Blooms, and will finish with Cha Ching

Nice cuttings Travis, and absolutely beautiful juvenile Kush bagseed babies. :high-five: You're well on your hempy way.

TS, :hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:

i like the dual seedling / veg closet. have seen similar ones before, it's a great use of a compact area.

In veg I use up to 1tsp per gallon (depending on humidity about 5-7 grams) and have just very sightly have burned tips, even on my small clones and seedlings. My current round, I haven’t given them anything else and they look about as healthy as can be to me.

In flowering, I was adding 1tsp of CalMag and their Bud Explosion, and 2 Tbs of Terpinator. It seems chemistry isn’t my thing. That mix really caused a lot of problems with leaf burn, and I think PH lockout. I’ve switched back to just MegaCrop and calmag and they’re recovering well so far. Some plants did a lot better than others but I’m not overly happy with any of them although most do have decent looking buds. They’re just an experiment anyway and I have clones of all, so I can’t really be too disappointed. *The two in the front left I just moved in this tent so they didn’t suffer from my chemistry shenanigans.

I’ve used just MegaCrop and CalMag all the way through with really good results, but just not quite as good as the much much more expensive Rx Green nutes. The cost and convenience factors might just make up the difference.

:passitleft:

I liked the simplicity of just Mega Crop and Cal/Mg. Left that big bag behind in NOLA, but replaced it with Urban Farms Texas Tomato Fertilizer and their Veg recipe. It’s even easier than Mega. Lol! One tablespoon per gallon, that’s it, start to finish.

Y'all suppose those things in general (Octopot, GroBucket, maybe the Autopot if it's the same kind of thing) would work well with a soil setup and Osmocote Plus?

The octopot recommends not using soil but maybe with something to improve water uptake would work.

The octopot can be an easy diy.... put a hole in a 5 gal bucket and insert a small container with holes drilled in it. Then set that in another 5 gallon bucket.

That's my Mom. God bless her...

I loved reading about your mom and can imagine my son having similar thoughts in the future!

You stopped me in my tracks there GreenThunder. Octopot does indeed recommend soil. That’s what the entire thing is about, it’s a soil and hydro hybrid.

The soil mix is 40% perlite to wick more efficiently.

I read it in the FAQ... maybe it was referring to soil without additives. I was mainly looking for whether I could use coco. Thank you for clarifying

I just checked again because I wanted to be sure I don't spread misinformation. It's super soil that's not recommended because they are too heavy and hold too much moisture. Thanks again

A PK booster and a phosphorous supplement caused issues? Whodathunkit, lol?

Years ago I was in between EC measuring devices and griped to my buddy that I wish I had a way to measure EC (and mentioned "total dissolved solids," because I was high). A few days later, he brought me some kind of kit - that was used to test for several elements in a sample - that he'd found in the lab and his boss let him have when asked (probably because it had been bought during a time when they were looking for ways to spend every cent in the budget so they wouldn't have to report that they could get by on less money  , but never even opened in two or three decades). I wonder if there are test kits for potassium and phosphorous content. Well, there probably are - I wonder if such things are cheap?

Hmm... I wonder if I told him to take that kit back or if it's buried out in my shed, lol? I don't remember exactly what it was capable of testing, only that it wasn't what I was looking for.

Lol. I can remember times when, well... I might have given Mom even more problems than she already had. Back when I was a wee tiny SOB and people could still smoke cigarettes in stores, there was one incident when Mom almost set a coat on fire in... Sears, I think. Or maybe she did - my uncle was with us that day and he grabbed us both by an arm and said (to my mother), "We need to get out of here, now," and, as I looked back, I saw smoke. EDIT: Upon recollection, I think maybe you could smoke in the mall but not inside the actual stores in it; Mom would have gotten stressed and lit up, then maybe tried to hide it if an employee came near. IDK.

Anyway, I definitely recall hearing at one point, "You little b@stard, I hope one day you have five kids that are just like you!!!"

The Parents' Curse ;) .

That was my assumption. SIP (sub-irrigated planter) kind of thing.

The soil mix is 40% perlite to wick more efficiently.

Be my guess that additional perlite would cause less, not more. I'd think that vermiculite would be the ingredient to add if you are not seeing sufficient wicking. But SIP stuff is definitely beyond my knowledge base, and I have trouble "meshing" the concept with the need for a well-draining environment for cannabis. Closest I came in the past was setting houseplants in trays of water three or four waterings out of five (and doing regular top-watering on the alternates). It does look like a useful thing, though, if I can figure it out. Most useful to Mom in her general gardening environment - but I wouldn't be opposed to trying it with cannabis in the future, so I'm interested in learning about it.

You'd have liked the old "Lucas formula" style grows.
