Heirloom's A Little Bit Of Everything - 2016 Journal

Turns out it was a dog. Maybe chasing a rabbit, skunk, deer, armadillo or something. There's dirt disturbed in patches and big dog prints under the plant.

The branch is literally held on by skin. There probably isn't enough xylem/phloem left connected to give it a chance. But we were willing to try. So we, the royal 'we', meaning helpers tied the branch back to the main stalk to close the gap, then we stuck a step in post in the right place and tied the branch to it. Then wrapped the joint securely with tape so that it shed any water, rather than collecting it. If it grafts back on it will be a miracle.

The greenhouse is in design phase. I have looked at hundreds or maybe thousands of greenhouses, considered my specific needs and have spent plenty of hours taking mental journeys through different ideas.

I'll be right back with a couple pics of the latest favored design.

I borrowed a bathing suit and dress from my girl Sandra Bullock. Just call me Mr. Congeniality.

However I may retain oldergrower, not for his services necessarily, but just to take him out of the picture with the other contestants. It's one of my favorite dirty legal tricks.

:thanks:

That was perfect timing. I just got the replacement skillet heaters for my vape pen and had just finished taking three hits of some fabulous wax I was gifted when I stopped here on my way out to buy groceries.

Big smile on my face as I hit the concrete sidewalks.

Dude, that's a great design! :thumb:
My drafting teacher is rolling over in his grave, but with that cute little bird and the sun shining, screw him! I never liked him anyways. He stole my superball when I was bouncing it off the drafting table, which, by the way, had the perfect angle so it would bounce right back to me! So, when everyone was in the cafeteria for lunch, I nailed all his books to his desk! :cheesygrinsmiley:
But, I digress...it's really a great design!

I think it was your helpers playing with the dog and shit happened :cheesygrinsmiley:

... but don't say anything cause they are trying to help!

You might want to think about moving those windows down lower, create a better air flow.. Is that cock on the roof a wind vane or real, I can't really tell... I see it's a real bird.. Almost thought I was standing at your door,

Grizz, that's a real wild bluebird. I have a couple bird houses that host some families of different species. The bluebirds are my favs.

Those are exhaust fans, so they are higher. Not pictured are the low side wall intakes the blow up the skirt of each plant.

:laughtwo:

I so wish I had remembered to take pictures of the damage, because I don't even believe it.

The branch that was barely hanging on is looking like it's going to make it. It's not as perky as the rest, but it's not wilted. It was in the sun all day and I checked on it a little while ago.

The plant is my cross from last year, bag seed crossed with white widow x blueberry.

Most of what you see in this first picture is part of the branch.

Here's a top down. It's about 5 feet by 6+ feet in diameter

And here's a pic of a slightly munched big 9 finger for you, Mr. Krip.

THAT was an excellent wrap job. My compliments to whichever minion you had repair that. It had to make you feel good about your help. Geez, they look wonderful out there.

Your girls are looking awesome. That tangerine dream is beautiful!!, hard for me to think of it as indica dominant. I have heard folks complain about growing it indoor and now I can see why!

Looking and that damage and being slammed with torrential rain at the moment makes me mad at myself for not defoliating earlier. I am gonna trim my girls down to their undies as soon as possible for two reasons. We have wicked mold here and defoliating makes it easier to get things like Serenade where it needs to be the other reason is branch weight especially during a storm. Oh, just thought of a third reason, I had them trimmed up proper below "the splash line" and they have crept down so even though I have put straw (thank you) I want to mitigate mud splash on leaves due to a storm.

I have been thinking of your recovery at the weirdest times. I was getting ready to take a shower and thought about your smoking challenge and thought screw that, real challenge... take a shower right side only! I will tell the humorous outcome of fat man vs shower but I have run out of time.

I know what you mean on the Tang. That is the least indica looking 'indica dominant' plant I can remember growing.

Yeah the straw doesn't make the best splash guard. A thin layer of grass clippings first then a light 'loft' of straw may work better at keeping the dirt on the ground. The grass will mat a bit over a couple rains, so be sure to loosen it up occasionally so the soil surface can breathe.

Generally speaking green mulches like grass clippings are preferred by veggies, flowers etc....annuals. It promotes bacterial growth which prefer and adjust the soil more towards neutral PH. Brown mulches like straw, fall leaves, wood chips etc are not preferred by bacteria. It is difficult for them to take apart the lignin. Fungi on the other hand produce the acid necessary to break it down. So brown mulches produce a fungal domination. Typically perennials like the brown mulches. Trees, bushes etc.

Now you can go forth and mulch accordingly. We've mulched with about a 50/50 mix, grass clipping then straw. Some is even worked into the top inch of dirt. The berry bushes and fruit trees get wood chips mostly.

Good luck with the down pour. I've not had any anxiety about that yet. In another month I will though.

I live the bathing adventure my friend. I've thought about accepting applications for a personal groomer, lol. It's hard to check for ticks ATM.

That's as far down that rabbit hole as I am willing to go.

:peace:

Insanely beautiful, I can only dream of growing something that big and beautiful when I actually have the space/privacy to do it.
