Heavens Shores - Bill's 2022 Grow: Come Meet Howie! Show Us Your Grow Too - Bring A Pic

The reason I was telling that little life history was since I was about 5yrs. old my old man kicked the crap out of me. That and all the fighting growing up in the Windy City I didn’t realize it affects your impulse control but it sure makes a lot of sense now. Thankfully I’m not as impulsive as I was though. 🙏 CL🍀

There were a lot of fun back then.
Didn't find out until many years later it stems from a concussion as a child.
Damaged the impulse control portion of my little noodle.
It was down hill from there.
Full contact Hockey my whole life , football for 6 years , I lost track at 12 concussions.
Oh yeah racing motorcycles for that long you take the odd soil sample.
That's slang for crashing incase anyone doesn't know.
I could twist the throttle but couldn't always hold on. Hehe.
Couple really bad ones.
My poor old bones are feeling this cold ill tell you.
My hands and toes froze Tuesday trying to finish the exterior of the grow room before it snowed.
Working outside today didn't happen.
Hopefully tomorrow.
Take care my friend.

I've actually got a pair of electric Sox.
They heat up in your boots.
Great for ice fishing.
I hope it warms a bit today.
I've got axlot to do out there.
Take care buddy.

Electric socks?!

They must require a very long extension cord.

My father inlaw bought them for me for Christmas.
I haven't tried them yet.
But they work off 9v batteries.
Or a solar hat
Solar hat sounds good.
Howie said he would wear the hat. :thumb:
Dry wall today hopefully.
Howie is struggling with the ladder though. Hehe
Take care.

I'll use it for heating the grow room.

I enjoy working with drywall. You sure you got all the electric like you want it, or did you go surface mount? Maybe I remember you mentioning bx?

Dry wall today hopefully.

dry wall in the cold. i salute you. better have a few bowls handy. we have about a foot of snow here total.

them socks are great if you hunt bambi. i never relay on them alone though. there's a few grades of quality.

I've got actually #8 tech cable from the house to the grow room.
I thought it was #10 but it's 8 even better.
That will come through the floor up into a sub panel.
Probably 60 Amp but I'm looking at something bigger.
If I have to run the greenhouse next year off it.
Ill need more power.
Then from 15 Amp stablock breakers I'll run 14/2 BX on the surface.
I'll have a board for timers , controls and any display screens
All surface mount visible and accessible.
No drywall screws through a wire.
No drafty spots from boxes in the wall.
No worries about changing configuration with new equipment requirements.
I think it's a good idea.
See something I'm missing?
Or a suggestion.
I'm open to ideas and suggestions. :thumb:
But yeah bx on the surface. ;)

Edit sorry forgot to hit post yesterday.

Wanna fly to California, to help me with some electrical work x'D
I can even touch my lights cause I'm afraid to open them up and get the Dimmer Version Model LMFAO. (ain't tryna do something wrong, and mess my lights up, I mean I know to unplug the lights while opening it, but I have this fear I'm gonna put it all back together and the whole thing just goes up in flames xD)

Not sure on the meaning of BX and Stablock but think I can guess. 15a seems solid, same as my extra circuits. 👍🏼👊🏼
14/2 BX is household wire, 14 Guage in a metal jacket.
I'll run it on top of the surface with clips.
Put plugs anywhere I want and move them easily if need be.
Stablock is a breakers used in Federal panels.
Considered the gold star of panels and breakers here.
Got a deal on the wire from my boiler guy.
Just have to get it done.
Take care Amigo. :high-five:

Yep makes total sense. Similar to us. We have high gauge cable through void space in the roof in PVC tube conduit then in surface mount conduit to wall mounted sockets. Into Siemens brand circuit breakers initially then for the timer control board secondary big boy breakers. Seems very similar setup. As I learned from a wiser man than me #safetyfirst!

Thanks as ever or krup khun krup as we say say here!
