Heavenly Hybrid 2nd Grow: Blackberry Kush, Coco Grow, LED450

Hi Ase! Thanks for checking in! I’ve had a bit of chaos for my second grow on. My first grow was 2 photos. My second grow ended up being mislabeled seeds, and what I thought were photos, ended up being 4/5 autos. The only actual photoperiod of the bunch is my current Blackberry kush quadline. The rest that you see are autos in a second tent, that I’ve been crash-coursing through.

Unfortunately when I had some of my health issues I didn't keep up with all the journals I bookmarked so maybe I'll have to go back and read. I would get rid of perlite altogether and just grow in straight coco and a lot of the pictures you post have the coco on top looking very dry. Usually fan leaves will show signs of overfeeding with burnt tips but they also can be caused by letting the coco dry out too much. I'm not saying they look bad as the last few updates of pictures show them looking pretty good but just a couple things I could tell off my quick skimming. Autos can be super finicky and because of this I really don't like to grow them. I like to be in full control the whole time.

Yeah, they have whipped my boot a few times along the way, we’re getting along a lot better lately. I’ve got quite a few auto seeds left, so I’ll give them another go and see if I can do better with them next time around.
I’ve seen a couple coco growers not use any perlite too, and have been considering ditching it. It just sucks because I have a huge bag of it! Oh well. I appreciate the feedback Ase. With watering in coco, I’ve been waiting until it feels dry about an inch deep, is that something that I should ditch too?

This is where looking at how much runoff you get can be your friend. You need to be watering every day. Water until you see runoff even if it just a tiny amount. That may require you to dump some in and wait a few minutes and then dump a little more in at a time to figure that out. Keep track of how much total you put in and that should be the amount you do daily. I will say this. Don't use the measurement of the first time because if your pots are a little dry it is going to take more than normal to get them saturated properly again. I would just feed until you see runoff on the next one and then keep track of the following feed. Try to make it about 24 hours later so you know they got a full day to absorb the water. The inch deep method is more of a soil style of watering. Coco is hydro and it works better when you water every day.

Ditch the perlite next grow. I threw mine in my garden in the backyard and I had a half a bag left but things have been way better since I stopped using it. You can save it for maybe some soil grows in the future as well but I didn't see myself doing soil anytime soon so out to the veggie garden it went. It mainly helps in soil to keep aeration in the roots but in coco it always retains about 30% oxygen and it is totally unnecessary.

Day 110 / day 34 blooming

I snapped a couple of pictures of BBK yesterday. She’s getting big and starting to show some amber hairs. :cheesygrinsmiley::cheesygrinsmiley:

I’m not sure if I mentioned it or not already, but Banana Kush sprouted. :woohoo:Pretty cool, all my seeds sprouted in 4 days, no soaking, no helmets. Easy peasy.

She’s already bigger and I put into a solo cup like the rest. I’ve been looking forward to this BK for a while now, so I’m excited!

:thumb: how deep did you put them? A few times I’ve used the pucks I’ve had helmet issues so figure i’m maybe not going deep enough.

Nice to see all those big BBK buds building themselves Heavenly! :slide:
I’d say about 1/2” or a bit more? I’ve heard two times the size of the seed. I had helmets the last couple rounds, so I went a little further down this time.

I am completely jealous of your towering colas. :thumb:

And congrats on your newest member of the fam!
Thanks Shed, and I seriously doubt that! ;) I’ve seen your colas before, and mine aren’t even close.
Wow, nice HH! Those colas have formed up nicely. Must be really stinky in there now. I like stink!
Thanks Mr. S, you’re right, it is getting stinky! Some might say it’s downright heavenly.. :D

Happy Sunday all, I have a super, mega, ultra, photo drop today. Buds are fattening up on the autos and I may have definitely gone overboard. Let’s start with the goodies and finish with the weirdies.

I’m diggin this one the most. @Preston9mm, I don’t know if you planted the idea in my brain or not, but it does smell lemony with some pine..
Jack Herer #2 - Day 64

Next up Bubblegum #2 - Day 64

And here’s my Unknown auto - Day 78
She’s another one that has impressed me. She was a real beauty until she entered bloom/big tent. Things went downhill fast and I will forever wonder what she could’ve been if I hadn’t put her through the wringer. Her leaves show her life’s battles and she’s still a beauty (to me at the very least!)

Now let’s get weird...
Jack Herer auto #1 - Day 64
Her shape is so funny, I took off a bunch of ties and she tipped forward a bit. Even funnier shape now. Whatever, I love my little weirdos.

Last but not least, Bubblegum auto #2 - Day 64
I accidentally gave her some burns on her leaves recently. Oops! o_O Sorry boo.

That’s the full family update, aside from my newest sprouts. Speaking of which, there’s one little weird thing I’ve never seen before.

No inner leaves! Looks like someone forgot to add the cream filling! Not sure what’s gonna happen here. Outlook is not good, but I don’t mind watching and waiting for now. Might be dropping another banana kush soon tho!

That’s everyone for now. I hope you all have a nice, relaxing Sunday, and Happy Gardening! :ciao:

Oooooh Weeeeeee!

My favorite!

Wow, that's a weird little sprout. I hope it's just being shy with those leaves. I have had a few that have done similar, but the leaves weren't as spread as yours is. It's probably a trick of the camera, but she looks like she has an indentation.

Is this the indentation you’re looking at VG?

This is from a few days ago. Now when I look in between the cotyledons, it’s like there’s a hollow little hole. It would be cool if she decided to show some leafage, especially since this is part of the comparative, but it seems like a bit of a long shot.

Is she one of your C99?
No, it’s an Alaskan purple, which we only got 2 of, so I may be down to 1.
 booty
The C99’s are lookin good so far though :)

I’ll be brave and aim a little deeper next time :D

All your autos look fantastic! Every one of them is bigger and more bud-laden than any single auto I’ve grown to date. That AP with out the first set of leaves is a serious mutant  Have you shown that to Seedsman?

I'm actually starting to think Seedsman made a mistake on sending the AP for the comparative. Seems to be pretty temperamental. Multiple people have had problems now.... Not a good look. LoL

Comparative grows will definitely air out the dirty laundry.

the rest of the grow is going gangbusters!
Thanks Shed! I’m feeling pretty hopeful to see what they can do without all the stunting I put them through. Could be some beasts???

Haha, I did notice that!! :laughtwo: Maybe that’s why they sent them? Like we’re guinea pigs for that strain? I don’t know, it’s my first set of freebies, so you’d know better than me. I’m counting myself lucky to have gotten them both to sprout, lol!

I’ll be brave and aim a little deeper next time :D

Aww, thank you so much Amy, you helped them get here, so take a chunk of credit for yourself sister!! :high-five:
I haven’t brought it up to Seedsman other than a quick photo in the comparative thread. Maybe I’ll give them a tag in the next post, just so they’re aware.

The leaves may not look perfect but the bud does! I like to think of the leaves as a storage safety net (amongst other things). You may have used some of the safety net but everything looks great really. Also I noticed the coco looks wetter now too ;). IMO that's what it should look like! You can let it dry out every once and a while but I think you'll see some good results with keeping it wetter.
