Things are coming along in the Big Top! I’m thinking Sneaky B will be ready in the next 5-7 days, so I’ll probably start giving her just molasses water and start her flush (don’t be upset Shed
I have circumstances that make it essential). In my concern for the higher RH I’ve been having, I pruned some leaves off of Bubblegum #2, she was a leafy lady, so I’m glad for the increased air flow.
All the little bebes are doing well,
except for this little weirdo
There’s a little something making its way out of the middle, so I haven’t completely given up hope. But I’m also not feeling very optimistic, so I dropped another Banana Kush seed!
Whoop!
I also made some OG Kush oil with the MB machine (I love it Shed!
) and oil is so much easier than butter! I went looking for recipes that just use oil and after much searching, I found a Giada recipe that looked good. So I made some mini olive oil muffins - they taste better than they sound, I promise! Looks like Mr. Hybrid stole one before work today
Makes 48 minis or 12 regular muffins
Recipe:
1 3/4 all purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 cup sugar
4 eggs
Zest of 1 large orange
Zest of 1 large lemon
2 Tbs balsamic vinegar
2 Tbs whole milk
3/4 cup (6oz) extra-virgin olive oil (I used 3 oz. infused olive oil and 3 oz. evoo to get the dosage where I wanted it)
2/3 cup sliced almonds, toasted (I used chopped and it’s fine)
Powdered sugar for sifting
Preheat oven to 350°F (I did convection bake 325). Place paper liners in muffin tin.
Blend flour, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, beat together sugar, eggs, and zests until pale and fluffy (about 3 mins). Beat in vinegar and milk. Gradually beat in the oil. Add flour mixture and stir until just combined. Crush the almonds with your hands as you add them to the batter and stir until mixed. Fill the muffin tin almost to the top of the paper liners. Bake until golden on top and a tester comes out with moist crumbs attached. For full sized muffins - 20-25 mins. For mini muffins - 13 mins.
Transfer to a wire rack to cool for 10 mins. Move muffins to a platter and dust with powdered sugar. (I only sugared a handful of mine).
They are pretty tasty and are ~9.75mg per muffin. Perfect for after dinner to help me sleep through the night. I ate batter as I baked and then only ate half of one, so I’ll have a true tester tonight. Zzzz
That’s all for the activity around here!
Happy Gardening and Happy Baking!
