Haight Solid State vs. H.G.LED

Re: 420 Consumer Reports Competition - Haight Solid State vs. Hydro Grow LED

the tric shots really are amazing. . . love the purple, is it the camera or is it really purp?

yup, these last ones look like there's still a bit of time. . . bet you can't wait for the cure to be done.

Before killing the fatted calf, I'd send a sample of that water to a reputable lab for testing, looking especially for heavy metals, hormones, toxic runoff, etc.

Hey Sun , I learned to give rep's just for you brother!

Are you saying the guy is feeding them, like nuclear water or something? Wouldn't it of killed them right off the bat? Doc mentioned nitrates but I thought nitrates were needed.

SS, as we wind this down to the end, I want to thank you again for your tireless work and dispassionate review process. I've marveled from the beginning how you dealt with haters, baiters and pimps. The information you've put out here is an invaluable resource in showing what one can expect from a relatively low powered LED panel.

Whether he changed your mind or reinforced your beliefs I believe we all owe the man a debt of gratitude, and towards that I'm going to do something I've never done before and can't imagine doing again. I'm calling on every single person who reads this journal, to send SS rep. He's earned it and since no one here gets paid, it's how we can show our gratitude to him as a community.

Awesome job, Brother. Can't wait to see the final results.
Could'nt have been said better !! :cheer::reading420magazine:

Wow, I don't know what to say.

That may be the nicest gesture that I've ever had the pleasure of receiving.

True, nobody gets paid here monetarily, but the love and appreciation is reward enough.

thank you

HGL TRICHOMES DAY 54 BLOOM

Not all the pics are pretty, but I'm just trying to give an idea of where things are at in the HGL tent.

thanks for following ;)

This is so much cooler than science class back in high school! The pics are great SS!

Re: 420 Consumer Reports Competition - Haight Solid State vs. Hydro Grow LED

I love the trich pics SS, and agree that at least those of us who followed this comp grow should give you reps. We have all learned more than just about LEDs, your growing technique is superb IMO. There have been many good debates and unique points of view shared in this journal. Many of us have learned alot from SS but I want to thank everyone else for their knowledge too.

Plus it some of the sickest bud porn on the planet. You'll never see another two guys talk about their plants and molest them like they do...lol...btw AMS is not a highly tauted strain even on their site but I highly recommend it.

Re: 420 Consumer Reports Competition - Haight Solid State vs. Hydro Grow LED

I agree. +rep for both of you.....but I'm locked out on rep.

+ rep for the SUN that's for sure..

Reps again when I can for sure! Good idea Southern, and you certainly deserve it Sun. :goodjob:

I won't lie, it's been a lot of work, but it's also been one of the most singularly rewarding things I've ever done, and I'm really looking forward to the results.

No way I could have done this without the energy from your encouragement and support all through the journal.

This grow has been quite a trip, and I'm grateful for everyone that's been along for the ride.

best part's comin' up ;)

What you're describing is mutated growth which you're convinced is caused directly by the water, and personally speaking, I'd have the water tested just to be sure it's safe to use.

MJ is one of the few plants that uptakes and concentrates heavy metals, which adds more risk to the issue. The well being near a road also adds risk.

Does your friend use this well for drinking water also?

I'm about as far from being an alarmist as you're gonna get, but there's some red flags here as far as safety.

I don't think a water assay for toxicity costs all that much, and to me it would certainly be worth the peace of mind.

The purple is real.

I love taking trich pics. It's like walking through another realm, and when I look at the pics later on my pc, there's usually some cool surprises.

I'm looking forward to the smoke report ;).

thanks wheelo!

Funny you should mention that...my friend grew up there and he always bragged of having a third leg!...lol
He showed me the uv filter that he put in. Water was tested and ok'ed by health department for consumption afterwards. He said being on a swamp it had a bit of chlorophyl or something like that. The other thing with having a well is there's always a septic near by. Wonder if that has something to do with it?

No offense, amigo, but I would like to see the test results for that water and compare it to federal and state drinking water standards. There are primary and secondary drinking water standards that water under the influence of septic conditions just would not pass. The best thing to do is to have a civil engineer conduct a sanitary survey of the area and test the water again based on field conditions and lab certified water quality reports. Too many components of this story send up red flags and don't make sense. The application of engineering and science could clear up the mystery of the water quality in very little time.

If we don't apply scientific standards, as this thread has done to compare two different LED technologies, then we'll all end up buying General Pseudoscience $3,000 LED light panels complete with Mark McGuire Steroid plant food and a nice set of Ronco Ginzu steak knives.

P.S. Consider yourself repped Setting Sun. I jumped on that bandwagon big time. However, this will cost you several hours of face time with my mother in-law.

We should start calling you the godfather of LED grows. There have been at least a handful of newbies like me that joined 420 and cut their teeth in this thread! Props to you Setting Sun! Fighting prohibition through education. Brilliant!

Re: 420 Consumer Reports Competition - Haight Solid State vs. Hydro Grow LED

Hello SS and thanks for a great thread. Ive been quietly following this from the early days and have continued to learn, and soaked up so much knowledge from yourself and the other amazingly intelligent people replying here. As a complete novice with an ambition only a few months ago you have inspired me to have a crack and im now a very happy grower!! I decided to go with led's because im growing in a small 2ft X 3ft cabinet and heat is a big issue here. I bought a cheap 126w led from ebay that looks amazingly similar to the HGL. Now one week into bloom im amazed at how far these things climb a day (1.5" minimum) and how healthy and FAT :) they are. Sorry im going off track, my point is, every time ive had a question or a doubt or a concern i have just looked back through your extremley detailed journal and been able to find my answer. 420 is my only source of info now and between this thread and a few others i have made my decision to veg with led and flower for 1 week with led then im going to switch to 250w hps and led as a side light to finish the cycle. I came to this conclusion because of the many journals there are on here with leds and how every one seems to have the same issue with the leds not finishing the ladys off the way a hps does. SS i think you may have mentioned it already here somewhere but i cant go through the whole thing again its 1400+ posts! If you were doing this grow with your 250w HPS what sort of weights would you be expecting? Once again SS thanks for all your effort with this. If i knew how, i would do the +reps thing. :) Keep it up man im looking forward to some final weights.

Thanks bro!

I guess no good deed goes unpunished.

good timing though, I will be in need of a drying rack fairly soon, and she could also work on her breathing exercises for CO2 supplementation on the next grow

it's all good ;)

These two posts alone make this grow worthwhile for me. Thanks for letting me know that this journal has made a difference in the bigger picture. That's a lot more important to me than which light wins or what the yield is.

:thanks:
