Haight Solid State vs. H.G.LED

He's making pizza topping herb that'll make you forget all about Mama Mias Pizzaria!

"Yes we cannabis pizza". Give two slices to my mother in-law as a reward for stretching the tent for you SS. And don't worry if she doesn't wake up, just call me and I'll take care of the rest.

I have one similar:

look so good I just hope they finnish with the same exellence as your amazing start best of luck bro if you end up with nice big sticky buds I will bring my led out of the closet and start another grow combining my pro source 90watt ufo with rainforest 318 my bud is just finishing this current crop using 1000watt hp and the rainforest 318 18 big beautiful cinderella99 ladies coming down in 2-3 weeks as soon as I get pics I will post them

All I've done is try to provide them with a healthy environment.

Plenty of flow-through ventilation, good nutes, proper temps, and adequate light (thus far), and that's all.

The rest is up to the lights.

thanks harryo!

I would love to see how you got 18 plants to harvest in one RainForest. I just did 4 in mine (also a 318) and ran out of room... Got any pics? :bravo:

Re: 420 Consumer Reports Competition - Haight Solid State vs. Hydro Grow LED

Hahah well the plants look right on track to me and I can't wait to see them bloom out. Gonna do any pruning of the bottom branches?

I think they're looking OK considering the stretch is just now ending.

I've thought about pruning lower branches, but since the lights are of different designs, and deliver their energy in significantly different ways, it might throw things off a bit.

I think both groups would benefit from it, but the HGL more than the HSS, so while I would like to do some pruning, I don't think I'm going to.

On my personal grows, I usually don't do much pruning of the lower branches because I like to have a nice jar or two of popcorn buds at harvest. They dry fast and give me something to smoke while the larger buds are drying out.

If I was growing for a group of patients on a larger scale, I would prune the lower branches heavily.

good question bro, thanks ;)

Re: 420 Consumer Reports Competition - Haight Solid State vs. Hydro Grow LED

well, after you got on my case about drying my buds in a box, I had to upgrade

what wrong with drying in a box? maybe i am doing something wrong? i hang my plants for 3 days then put them into a cardboard box or brow paper bag.
i have always thought the bag/ boxes worked great. but if theirs anything wrongs with drying like that please let me know.

Re: 420 Consumer Reports Competition - Haight Solid State vs. Hydro Grow LED

It worked extremely well for drying purposes, but my buds looked like they were having a bad hair day ;).

I was gentle with them, but they would do better resting on a screen and getting 360 air.

Nothing at all "wrong" with cardboard boxes and brown bags. In fact, I was singing their praises on my last grow, but I think the screens will produce an even nicer final product.

ya i always hang them first for a few days, then when most of the water is gone i bag them to get the inner moister out. i believe jarring/ sweating your buds isnt good to do. i only put my buds in the jars when they are real dry. i have found the paper bags/boxes pull allot of moister evenly out of the center of the buds very well. i have always wanted to try the screens, so let me know how they work for you.

Jarring the buds earlier will allow for a slower cure, producing a smoother, more flavor filled smoke. There is a potential crop killing downside for those that don't pay attention to their curing bud...mold. Easy to avoid by dumping the bud out and repacking it in the jar every 24 hours.

For years I was a hang/bag man myself, but I've changed my style to a 3-4 day hang and straight into jars.

i noticed my WW had less flavor if i hung for 3-4 days then straight into jars. my last crop i hung for 3-4 days then layed out into a cardboard monopoly box for another 3-4 days turning flipping buds over and opening the box for an hour every day. then jarred for another week. i got a very very sweet and fruity taste doing that, very happy with it. kinda like putting into a paper bag i guess. but i think thats the method i like best and will stick with... they also came out very frosty white and neon lime green looking (looks good in the jar or bag) the ones that went into jars after only hanging 4 days developed a darker or goldish color and had less of a sweet flavor but a smoother smoke

day 24 bloom

One plant in each group has stretched about 6-8" taller than the other three, so I just shimmed the others up higher to keep the canopy even.

HSS 2 is the tallest plant at almost 30". I can't remember which HGL plant is the tallest in that group, and lights are out, but it's almost as tall at around 29". I'm glad we didn't get both of them in the same group because they may be a more sativa-leaning pheno. The other 6 plants have stopped stretching, but these two just started alternating nodes.

Long as I don't run out of styrofoam or headroom, we should be OK ;).

looking good SS, very impressed with the grow. healthiest plants i have seen in a while all they way all the way though the grow. nice work. also... i see nuggies and frost! that is makin me happy. also nice seeing how straight all the plants are growing

still liking the way the HGL is looking, just amazed how much light those LED panels are able to get inside the plants

Re: 420 Consumer Reports Competition - Haight Solid State vs. Hydro Grow LED

Nice work Sun.. I think the HGL plants are going to give you more med's from the looks of those pic's.. You seeing the same in person? The HGL plants look more dense IMO...
