Haight Solid State vs. H.G.LED

Re: 420 Consumer Reports Competition - Haight Solid State vs. Hydro Grow LED

Subscribed. Keep up the good work :nicethread:

thanks for subscribing and welcome!

The 6W LEDs on the Haight light is why they can use a wide beam angle and still have enough intensity. Wide beams do a much better job of lighting the whole tent.

thanks for explaining sfhaze, your input is always appreciated!

great journal, I just got my ppf-400 after checking this journal I was convinced Haight Solid State rocks, previously I was using a Glowpanel 45 and a couple of 65w CFLs
great job showing people so they can see for themselves the great results.

Have you started a grow with the PPF-400 yet?

This sub-forum is heating up!

Re: 420 Consumer Reports Competition - Haight Solid State vs. Hydro Grow LED

Flipped them almost a week ago and they showed preflowers just over 2 days later.

They've started their stretch.

I'm dying to see how they're gonna look in a few weeks!

thanks bro!

Wow, a months gone by already? The plants are looking happy and healthy. Great job SS!!:goodjob:

Re: 420 Consumer Reports Competition - Haight Solid State vs. Hydro Grow LED

Many thanks, as always, SS for your great work on both the grow and this journal.

A quick Fox Farm nute question for you... I noticed on your last feeding you included Cal Mag Plus. Did you add that just to the flush or was it mixed in with the other nutes, or both?

By the way, after one week into flower I went from half strength Tiger Bloom and Big Bloom to full strength on both (growing Red Cherry Berry Indica mix from Barney's) and the plants loved it. Not even a hint of nute burn. Just another data point for you.

:goodjob:

Re: 420 Consumer Reports Competition - Haight Solid State vs. Hydro Grow LED

I added the Cal-Mag+ to both the flush water and the nutes, and I'll continue to add it to every watering and feeding except for the final flush.

The pots are almost dry, and I haven't seen a hint of burn from the last feeding, so your data point is right on time and very helpful.

thank you usul!

Re: 420 Consumer Reports Competition - Haight Solid State vs. Hydro Grow LED

Calmag is great, but I stop two weeks before harvest. I can taste it if I don't.... I have been using the bionicare lineup, and the taste is kind of fishy. It might not even be from the calmag, it just smells similar to the taste I wasn't liking and now it's gone. I always flush, but I think it's hard to flush minerals from the soil - it really just removes the salts.

My plants get watered tomorrow so, right back at ya with the good timing thing! I'll add calmag+ to the mix. I can smell how it would alter the taste of the finished product so I'll be sure to flush well before harvest.

thanks and +reps if I can

Re: 420 Consumer Reports Competition - Haight Solid State vs. Hydro Grow LED

If you're using RO water, the CalMag is pretty much essential because the RO water will leach a lot of minerals out when you water and feed.

Cal-Mag would definitely taste nasty in the cured buds. I'm only going to do one big flush a week or so before harvest, but it's going to be a good one.

I'm not superstitious at all, but for some reason, I don't like talking about harvests until they're real close ;).

thanks bro!

Re: 420 Consumer Reports Competition - Haight Solid State vs. Hydro Grow LED

Great stuff. I know its only beginning of flower, but do you have any thoughts on the lights so far? I am not sure, but it seems there is some visible difference in the sheen on the two plants, and some extra density to growth on one of the plants maybe. Neither looks bad though, and the aforementioned differences may only be me and the camera.

Thanks for sharing.

Re: 420 Consumer Reports Competition - Haight Solid State vs. Hydro Grow LED

sorry for off..

where did they put LED grow section? the path is now like: 420 Magazine > THE GROW ROOM > Grow Journals > Journals in Progress

Re: 420 Consumer Reports Competition - Haight Solid State vs. Hydro Grow LED

Awesome pictorial timeline SS! Thank you so much for taking the time to do that! I can't wait to compare my upcoming grows to this! Bought a light from China but it won't be here till the end of Feb. Keep growing dude.

Howdy Papa Green!

I've expressed my thoughts and my take on both lights as the grow has progressed, and I plan to summarize everything at the end.

The HGL plants have had a very nice sheen through veg, but the HSS leaves are now getting shiny also in early bloom.

I took a bunch of pics yesterday but it got too late to post them.

I'll try to update today as yesterday was 1 week bloom.

thanks brother!
