GratefulBud's Summer 2023 Outside Grow

Great nets, huge plants, nice save!
Thanks man!
And you too for the Grandpas Moonshine save. She looks fantastic! I was hoping to avoid re-pot into a fabric pot. The plant is huge. Not sure how I would have done it.

For the larger plants in SIP buckets I built a PVC frame 5ft tall and 4ft square. The plan is to cover the frame in netting.
It needs to be lightweight. Need to disassemble it at end of grow and pack it away. No one wants a 5 foot tall PVC cube (or two) in the yard year round. OK my wife does not want it in the yard year round.

I plan on lifting the entire cage off the plant when needed. I'll leave an opening near the fill pipe so I don't need to remove it entirely each day. That's the plan anyway. Will post pics when I have it completed and on a plant. If it works out I'll build another. You can see the PVC cage in the top pic above.

I put it over the Gorilla today and yeah, I should have made it taller.

Hey Bud :)

I used tulle (for bridal veils and such) bought from a fabric shop and I attached it to dowels and bamboo poles. I like your wire structure very much. Tulle is cheap and you can buy as much yardage as you need.

Thanks! That definitely looks like an option. I already have the netting but may not have enough.
They are turning into MONSTERS!
Biggest plants I've ever grown - all 6 of them!

Seeing more bugs lately so I need to be on my toes.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I read that you were building a frame out of pvc and needed netting and in my mind that was for bug protection. Complete misunderstanding.

No not at all.
4 plants are getting the netting over the tomato cage. The two larger SIPs will need larger PVC cage.

Kinda sounds like potentially nasty stuff just based on the "Protective Work Clothing" warnings. I think you can buy Safers soap at one of the big box stores. What pest are you trying to control?

Highya Beez!

I was getting some leaf spotting - maybe thrips. This spray seemed to work well as I have not seen any new spots. But I saw a few critters running around. Not sure what they are. They look like aphids but they are faster and sneaky - they will run to the other side of the stem to hide. I saw a few brown larger ones but the smaller ones are green.

I will say the SNS209 seems to be working well because I am not seeing near as many pests as previous grows. I use SNS209 with every feeding but will taper it off as I get close to harvest. Want to have something in my pocket to use just in case.

Dr Bronner's unscented castille soap!

Amazon for the win!

And I'd stay clear of something that's over 30% oil in flower.
Yep agreed.
I sprayed neem the other day but only on the main stem and the top of the soil. Thinking it will eliminate any pests hiding in the soil.

Are they shaped sorta like a triangle? Can fly, and will jump from one branch to another?
