GratefulBud's Summer 2023 Outside Grow

I have no idea what's going on but this is the latest in summer that I've gone without the plants in flower. Weird.
My plants are taking a long time to flower this season as well. My China Cat (in soil) just started flowering last week and my Sensi Cheese (in SIP) still hasn't started, although I think it's getting real close.
Both are drinking two gallons each per day.
Yeah, it's kind of ridiculous how much they drink. I'm having to mix up 4 gallons of nutrients every day for my one SIP plant. I might go bankrupt buying nutrients if I grow like this all the time.
Today I found PM on 2-3 inner leaves on the OG Kush SIP. So I kinda went overboard (perhaps) on defoliating both.
Your pruning job looks pretty good to me! :thumb:

Very strange. I keep seeing pistils but then a few days later a bunch of new leaves pop up.

I've been trying to give supplemental nutes to my sips but I think I overdid it.

Thanks Beez!

So I may have an issue.
Two days ago I noticed one of my SIPs was not drinking as much as usual. This was after I did not respond immediately to her demand to be fed. She looked a little more droopy than usual. I thought no biggie, just top off the res and she will be good.

Yesterday she was again not drinking as much. I went to water this morning at 6am and the Gorilla was bone dry but the OG had plenty of water. I topped her off but she only took half a gallon. The Gorilla took one gallon.

When I got back from a meeting the Gorilla looked fine - her res was bone dry again (she's still drinking a lot), but the OG res was still half full based on my stick indicator, and she was droopy. Uh-oh.

I'm thinking she lost her wick.

So I watered lightly on the top and then drenched just around the main stem in the center of the bucket. I'm thinking (hoping) this will jump start the wicking action again. Not sure what to do if she stops drinking. May have the same issue Shed encountered.

Wish me luck!

I hope you catch whatever it is.

Oh I also noticed nute burn on the OG a few days ago. Some of her top fan leaves had brown tips and slight brown edges. Just a few leaves. I've been supplementing the Grow Dots with FF Big Bloom and a little Grow Big for the nitrogen, along with some FF Open Sesame. I backed off all for the past 3 days. Just water.

The fabric pots all have dark green leaves so I'm backing off all for a few days.

If I let my indoor one get below half a tank, she droops like that- it takes about 4 or 5 hours, after topping her off, for the droop to go away...

She's in an air chamber type of SIP, and I think the bottom half of the wicking foot might of washed away, so now all that soil is just laying at the bottom of the rez, doing nothing.

That's my theory, anyhow- won't know for sure until after harvest, when I open the SIP to have a look..

Sort of similar to what yours is doing, but mine slowly recovers once I fill her back up...

Good to know - thanks!

Just seemed really odd that one is drinking normal and the other slowed way down. I just checked after an hour and she looks better. I moved her into the shade. Will give it a few days to see how she responds.

Of course my mind is all over the place: She's dying! She has root rot! She dried out and will never recover!

I think I just need to smoke a doobie and chill out.

As a refresher here is my SIP build so you can see the inner workings.
There is a plastic donut in the bottom of the bucket. I put half perlite / half soil in the center and packed it down. Up until now it has worked really well at wicking water.

Could just be a minor glitch.

Perhaps the OG got a little stressed out from the heavy pruning you gave it last weekend, or possibly its not liking the extra nutes you've been adding. :hmmmm:

But bigger plants may lead to less frequent rounds? Although you grow outdoors so probably only get one round a year. Nm...

I think yours is a different issue than Shed's since you had good action before which suggests roots down into and helping themselves to the reservoir.

Yours may be more substrate related as a guess, and top watering with a surfactant like aloe or yucca may help bring it home, at least until you figure out what's wrong.

Yeah I was thinking same. I did get a little aggressive defoliating the OG. I stepped back and out loud said "yikes". For the other SIP I left just a tad more on her.

And kind of a coincidence that I saw nute burn and then the next day she stops drinking.

Thanks I'll keep that in the back of my head.
I just checked her and she looks totally fine right now. We'll see how much she drinks overnight compared to her sister.

OG is still having issues. Gorilla looks good.

But the others look really good!

Mimosa -

And here are a few pics of the Critical Kush -

I'll show pics of the other two tomorrow.

Have a great weekend!
