GratefulBud's Summer 2023 Outside Grow

Sorry that your OG is still having issues, but your other plants are looking fantastic! :bravo:

Looking (total # plants-1/total # plants)% great Grateful! Saw all the advice you got in the SIP thread and it looked solid, but any chance it's just not a variety that likes 100º days no matter what?
Hey Shed!
Good to see you!

Yeah I'm on the fence as to what the issue is. I grew this same strain last year in fabric pots and they did just ok.
I left the OG in the shade all day again and she looks just fine. Not gonna do anything drastic just yet.

The Gorilla SIP looks good today - was slightly droopy because her res was empty. Fed her full nutes and she perked right up.

The OG is looking just OK. More yellow leaves down low but not drooping as bad. Her res was still almost full so I top fed her full nutes until overflow. I don't think it is an issue with the soil being hydrophobic. When I top fed her the soil readily absorbed the liquid, and it took a while for the res to overflow. I tipped the bucket to drain about half out of the res so it does not get too stagnant down there. I'm thinking the roots are funky.

I moved her into the sun. She's either going to perk up or not.
I'll continue to top feed for the time being.

As long as it recovers when you move it in the shade that's a good sign!
At 330 she looked fine. Got about 3 hours of direct sunlight today.
The res is still about half full so her lower roots are either taking a break or are all gummed up.

The Gorilla took another gallon of water at 230.

Well alrighty then we are in flower!
Well, actually I think we've been in flower for 2-3 days now.
Some pics:

I've been out bending wires to make my cage taller and wider for the nets. I noticed some leaf damage on Mimosa and began hunting.

I did not get a pic but I found a long skinny caterpillar. I tossed him to the other side of the yard.

Still top watering the OG but she looks OK for now.

Even with the drama (there always is) I still have a few good looking plants.

The 4 in fabric pots today:

The Gorilla OG looks good and is still drinking close to 2 gallons each day.

The SFV OG does not look horrible but if you look at her leaf tips she is not happy at all. Nute burn I think.

Lately I have been feeding her a lite dose of Grow Big (for the nitrogen). The Grow Dots are still kicking. I may have given her more nutes than she needed two weeks ago.

I probably pissed her off with the aggressive defol and while she was pouting she stopped drinking, which led to funkiness in the res and well, it has just spiraled downward from there.

Hope she recovers (and I apologize for calling her a finicky little bitch).

Thanks Tra!

Five plants look pretty good. The 6th one is throwing a hissy fit.
All 6 are now in flower so the fun will really begin!

I've been seeing lots of butterflies and moths flying around my plants the past few days. Sprayed bT yesterday. I need to cover them in netting like I did last year, so I attached wires to the tomato cages to keep the netting off the buds. I tried to put the nets on from last year but all 6 of these plants are bigger than previous plants I've grown. Those nets did not fit over them. Too tight on the branches. So I bought larger ones off Zon. 6ft x 6ft with zipper.

Looks kinda odd for sure but it works.

I needed something mobile - √
Needed to be lightweight - √
Must breathe and allow airflow - √
MUST keep the bugs off my plants - √

Got something else planned for the SIP buckets. Don't think even these larger nets will fit over them.
Here are the two SIP girls today:

The OG is drinking again!
This morning she looked better but the res was still full (whereas the Gorilla SIP was dry). I moved her to the shade and this afternoon her res was almost empty, so I refilled with filtered water and some FF Grow Big for the N2.

I may save this plant yet.
