Grape Ape & Golden Tiger Hit the Shower - DBHBB & 600W HPS - Winter 2016

I'm OK with busting them down. I've been considering it. I think it could help the yield since it would allow me to get more light down into more of the plants. As it is, the tops are right at the lights but most of the plant is two feet down.

That's a very good point! I forget that when I see the tall elegant plants.

Indoors, we only really have 12-18 inches of canopy, max.

:420: is one of the few places that might possibly understand this. Today I started mixing soil to cook for my next round. As I combined the "stuff", I added my amendment that was put together on January 12th. It is concentrated to use as an inoculant for the remaining soil. I haven't looked at it since mixing it. When I opened up the bags I pleased to find LOTS of fuzz across the top, down the sides, and running in veins through it like a fine blue cheese. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Kind of hard to capture with a photo but here it is.

It looks rectangular, but this is a 10' x 10' tarp. 250 gallons down. 150 gallons to go... Gotta fill those cages.

Ya ...tuff one Major. I know what you could do but , it hurts...... Bend them down at around 18" down from the tops at a 90 degree angle and support them there with stakes or wire/strings. Know what I mean pal....don't let them fall all the way down so they will snap off ....just "break" them down to be horizontal . This may be all you can do Major , cuz they got quite a bit of growing to do yet. If you do try this , keep in mind they will recover and the tips will be pointing back up in a day or two at the most, while most of the branch will stay horizontal for ya giving you lots of head room for them to finish without bleaching or burning them. Just a thought Major,....I know you don't wanna do it , but you may have to . Cheers ...:Namaste:

yes, this will cause bud foxtailing.. :) increase yield and allow more light to penetrate the canopy. :)

Major, i gotta say bud,...i'm gettin all stoked for your outdoor grow! Looking at that big pile of soil....those massive pots 75 Gal's. each!! :slide: Will they be grouped together or spread out somewhat? I will need to know for my security.:surf:...perimeter alarms and such...:tokin: You know , the regular trip wire stuff... :) What a hoot Major.

The current plan is for 5 plants. Last year I placed them 4' apart so they would fit inside our veggie garden. It was too close together for easy care. This time I am going to try for about 8' apart, laid out like this:

O O
O
O O

:morenutes:

8' apart should be good. I bet they still touch towards the end though. ;)

When do you suspect to be able to put something outside?

I'm hoping! :cheesygrinsmiley:

I plan around June 1st, but it is completely weather dependent. I will try to begin my summer journal on 4-20. :thumb: :420:

Our last day of frost here averages mid-April. When weather is good, I move the plants outside during the day and take them in at night to maintain at least 16 hours of light and to keep them warm. I actually just popped some beans this week and have a few plants in early veg. With any luck, they will be what end up in those cages. The seeds are going under 12/12. When they show sex, I will put the girls back into veg.

The starting lineup currently looks like this: Panama, Golden Tiger, Zamaldelica, Liberty Haze, and another Grape Ape x Sensi Star. I'm a little heavy on Sativas so I may swap out one of them for something else. I have 9# Hammer available as well as my go-to Pitbull as possibilities.

Back to mixing the other 150 gal of soil. Stay tuned!...

Major, top of the day to ya ...Holy Sativa bud!! I'de be friggen worried for them come Fall pal! Those strains are mostly really long flowering Sat's. Would i ever like to see what the MLI would do ,... or the MK-Ultra in those huge pots! Your layout plan is perfect....the centre one will fill the hole. Your gonna need a bigger ladder... Would you consider trying a landrace Indica Major...just one brotha,...come on.:adore: Anyhow , your havin a good ol time ...Mrs. Pita help out ...? or does she stick to the veggies. Have an awesome night Major....and Gang!:thumb:

I'm afraid you are right, but I don't know what I can do about it. I keep the lights so close to the tops of the Tigers, I'm on the verge of burning them. I sometimes move the HPS up twice in one day.

Hey Major, I might be a little late with this BUT, if I were you I would CAT drench those GT+'s asap. I have noticed if you hit those long flowering sativas early, like a week or so before you think they will be ready it will slow the stretch and they seem to finish "on time" with an early CAT. I would then hit them again at the end. I usually finish my sativas on GE, CAT, GE and I quit hitting them with brix the last couple weeks. The brix seems to keep them going. A good destress in the 2nd to last week will also help them finish.....just some suggestions for ya that work for me. :Namaste:

Yeah - I'd love to grow another Indica. I prefer them to Sativas, but have quite a bit on hand. I'd do a landrace in a second ... if I had one. At least GASS is mostly Indica and a very quick finisher. Liberty is also fairly quick for a Sativa Haze. Supposedly about 10 weeks. The others may very well not finish before the weather goes to hell next fall. I'm still looking for alternatives to throw in the mix, but I'd need to find something soon.
:thanks:

Very interesting - Thanks for the suggestion!
I may try it on one of them to see how it compares to the other.
I did already supercrop them. I busted their backs down to 24" tall. It helps a lot with the light but makes it even more difficult to move them out of the shower for maintenance. I'd love to finish them up a little early. The big question is when will an early Cat drench be? If it is a week or so before the usual window, I think it could still be a week or more away. The buds are not close to what I think of as "set" at this point.

Whew! I finished mixing my soil yesterday. Let me tell you, it was a helluvalotta work. Now to let it cook for a couple more months. In the mean time I have a bout 5 gal of it I mixed up early as a test. I have a few cuttings I'm going to pot in it to see how they love/like/hate the mix.

Cheers guys!

+reps bub, and yes we are having some awesome spring weather!! Cant beat 68 degrees in February lol. Especially living in the PNW

Thanks, Bro!
Looks like our spring weather will come to an end today. Still fairly warm, but back to more wet. That's OK. My new soil mix is on the dry side. I'll let Mother Nature water it for me.

Lol just realized you have one of the best drummers of all time in your avatar. +reps just for that haha

No, but ive been playing the guitar since I was 14. Im 33 now, and Jimmy Page,Jeff Beck, Clapton, Randy Rhodes are just a few guitarist that really inspired me to want to learn. By far bonham is the best. Probably inspired most of the great drummers of today
