Grand Daddy Black Grows A Stack

Couple of nice harvests Gdb, Congrats! Looks like a very nice haul! Looking forward to what ladies you will be growing in the newly emptied tent!
Thanks N420.

Those plants are currently the focus of this thread. They'll be going in the empty tent by week's end.

Thanks for looking in, my friend! :Rasta:

Hello growers.

I got down to feed the photos yesterday and they had a surprise for me.

They're all drinking less!

These plants have been really consistent in how much water they take in and I have tracked those amounts for each plant throughout the grow. So here's how the amounts broke down yesterday as compared to their prior feed, 3 days before. All plants are day 72 post-flip except where indicated:

PlantApril 9 amt.April 12 amt.Difference
Grand Daddy Purple2.8L2L- .8
Double Black3.4L1.3L- 2.1
Cheese2.7L1.6L- 1.1
Lemon Haze (flip 63)4..6L1.7L- 2.9
Strawberry Banana Grape2.5L2L- .5
Critical Kush3.6L2.5L- 1.1

Obviously, the end is approaching for this group.

In fact, the Cheese is ready to come down right now.
Same for the Double Black but she can go a few more days.
Same for the Strawberry Banana Grape but she too can go a few more days.

The LH and GDP have no more than a week or two to go. And I'm just not sure about the GeoFlora-fed CK. She's a little behind as far as trichome coloring goes. She's due her next Bloom top feed tomorrow and I'll be giving it to her.

I took a few lazy pics. I'll post better solo pics of each plant before taking them down.

GDB - smelly, smelly.

LH - she's flanked by the SBG. The LH was a big flopper. If you take a close look you can see where I had to place a few small bungee cords near her bottom to hold her up (they work great). The SBG flopped even more than the LH but she's not quite as tall. She's being supported by bamboo sticks, and lots of ties.

Cheese - I kind of slept on this one until I took a close look at her about 2 weeks ago and thought, "Wow!" She's got thick, heavy colas. A microscopic view of her yesterday revealed loads of amber trichs all over the place. She's coming down first! But, I still don't smell no damn cheese! :Rasta:

DBL BLK - another quiet exploder. Her colas are thick, hard and heavy and they start way down within the plant.

So it's back to trim jail for me.

And it's also time to start planning for the next grow in this tent! :yahoo:

Right now I'm thinking of doing 4 photos in 7 gallon pots.

I may go with a "G" theme. (Ever notice how many bomb strains start with the letter G?)

Based on what I have on hand I could grow:
- Ghost Train Haze (New420Guys) - Ghost OG x Nevilles Wreck
- Godberry (Freedom of Seeds) - God x Blueberry
- Original GG4 (GG Strain Seeds) - Sour Dubb x Chem Sis x Chocolate Diesel
- Godfather OG (@Weed Seeds Express, again) - Bubba Kush x L.A Confidential x GDP

Of course, I could change my mind because I have some non-"G" strains that I'm also itching to try. That list would look something like this:
- Original GG4 (GG Strain Seeds) - I'm growing this one next for sure
- Chemical Bride (Greenhouse Seeds) - Chemdog x Wedding Cake
- Alien Rock Candy (SM) - Sour Dubble x Tahoe Alien x Nicole
- Pineapple Express - (G13 Lab Seeds) -Train Wreck x Hawaiian

Which of these groupings looks the most interesting?

Peace.

I think that the second option sounds fun.
This is solely based on the name of one plant that I know nothing about.
Chemical Bride.

Also....yes, I do really enjoy a good butt joke.

Thanks for weighing in VG!

I too am intrigued by types I know nothing about. That gives me a lot to choose from, since they are so many in that category for me! :Rasta:

Wow those plants look stacked! Excellent.
These plants have been really consistent in how much water they take in and I have tracked those amounts for each plant throughout the grow.
I was wondering how you figure out how much water they take in. I always just water to runoff, and unless the plant is rootbound, it's always the same amount for that size pot (in flower). Only thing I make a note of is how often they need watering.
I still don't smell no damn cheese!
Works for me! :thumb:

I like the second set because of the sweet fruity varieties in it. Though I would like to see the one with God in it, so we can finally confirm her existence...

What a nice ending run with some excellent flavor. :blunt:

I believe I would also like to see group 2. How can you go wrong with a Chemdog x with a Weeding Cake.

So it's back to trim jail for me.
You know what they say “no rest for the wicked” o_O
Do you still have a plant hanging in the closet to dry so you can try a dry trim?

Didn't realise it'd been that long since I last stopped by. Congrats on the harvests and the upcoming ones too. A fair stint in trim jail approaching.
Thanks for making it back, Vet!

I would say I missed you, but I'm scared of lightning. :laughtwo:

Seriously, always glad to hear from you my friend.

Thank you so much, Shed!

I keep track of the intervals and the amounts for the same reason that I fold my underwear.

The curious part about the Cheese plant is that she doesn't smell like bubblegum. But she does smell like something odd. I may be in denial.

Most the thousands who have voted picked the second set. Glad I put the GG4 in both! Unlike some others I've seen on the site, I plan to honor the wishes of those bored kind enough to follow my thread!

Another one for the second grouping, GDB. Love me some Pineapple Express!!
Thanks DAB!

Does it really taste like Pineapple? I already know it smells like bubblegum.:laughtwo:

Hope your day is going well. :ciao:

Hello growers.

I have a few parting shots of the Cheese plant. Day 72 post-flip is her last day (or perhaps nearly her last day - more about that in a minute).

Cheese End II 04-13-21.JPG

My back room has sun-blocking draperies and no light from the front of the house reaches back there. So I can keep it fairly dark during the day and it's pitch-black dark at night.

So that Chocolate Kush I took down on Sunday, you may recall, wore me down. At the end, I left some airy stuff on the plant, considering it worthless. But I also left the freshly washed buds sitting out there on a table, under the ceiling fan. Because of that, I asked Mrs. GDB not to turn on the light out there for a few days.

Well sitting in darkness for a few days caused the airy stuff on the CK to firm up a bit and they seemed to improve in general quality. I took off most of the buds and got another 90g wet. (Wish I had taken a picture, but I didn't. They're now in a small refrigerator that I keep at a friend's place.)

Why is this particularly relevant to me at this time?

Well, the back room is going to be dark for quite a few days in the coming weeks! Mrs. GDB will revolt after a while, but I'm going to stretch it out as long as I can! :Rasta:

I'm in the middle of taking down the Cheese plant right now. (Well not right now - I took a break to do this post).

I'm taking it a branch at a time and I'm gleefully operating at sloth-speed. Because I don't care if I finish tonight. In fact, I'm not sure I want to! Whatever remains when I quit for the night will just sit out there in the dark still on the plant. I've finished four branches and think there are about 12 more major ones to go. I might do 4 more this evening and leave the rest for tomorrow and perhaps the day after.

I can't describe to you how good this makes me feel! :yahoo:

I've discovered the lazy man's method of trimming. (Or perhaps not "discovered" but "learned".)

Peace. (And take it slow.)

I can understand that you keep track of the amounts, and I can understand how you fold your underwear. I'm wondering how you keep track of the amounts.
At sloth speed, Shed.

I set my plant over a saucer, resting on a couple of wooden planks. I then use a liter container to water them. The container is marked at every 100ml. So converting to a decimal value for the amount used in liters is simple. I then water the plant "slothly", keeping track of how many liters it takes. When I see water start dripping from the bottom I stop, look at the water left in the liter thingy and I know exactly how much I've watered.

I hope you didn't expect any thing more complex than that! :laughtwo:

WOW GDB, just WOW! Congrats on the harvests (done, half done, gonna be done)! You are gonna have a shit ton of weed! :high-five:

If I had my druthers I’d try:

Godberry
Original GG 4
Chemical Bride
Pineapple Express

I grew the Pineapple Express (auto) my very first grow and, well, it was my very first grow so there’s that. I liked it enough that I bought more from Barney’s Farm late last year. Maybe round two for the summer. :cheesygrinsmiley:

When I see water start dripping from the bottom I stop,
So do you stop watering completely or just long enough to figure out how much they take? In other words, do you try to get a certain amount of runoff, like say 10-15%?
