Grand Daddy Black Grows A Stack

I don't really understand why people prefer to grow autos over photoperiod
My oldest son in Az. grows in a spare room, he doesn't have a tent, so a 12 hour dark period is not possible, so autos fill the bill perfectly for him...
I just grow them because I like the challenge.... will it do well, or will I end up with a pathetic little turd of a plant? both outcomes are possible, even if you think you did everything right...

Thanks @Mr. Sauga @VetSmoke85

I didn't realise they could save you that much time. I'd find myself hoping for a long veg period if i grew autos

So what we talking seed to harvest (avg) for an auto (assuming you're not @Grand Daddy Black - lol)?

Hey @Carcass - love the coining of Fauxto

I wish my dad was as cool as you and would let me smoke weed, let alone grow it! I still deny it to this day, and I'm a grown ass man!

Fair play for growing for the challenge of it, I imagine that is fun, and the not knowing give it the extra thrill.

Genuine question, not to spark controversy - But what's the attraction to Autos? Is it the lighting schedule you can flower them under? Why would one go with auto over photo?

I don't really understand why people prefer to grow autos over photoperiod, the lack of control alone is enough to put me off - but I'd like to understand - help me understand guys
I've begun asking myself that same question lately, Google. :laughtwo:

No, seriously, I don't choose autos over photoperiods, I choose them to grow along with photos.

In most instances, they do get done pretty quickly 70-100 days from seedling.
In most instances, they are easy to grow, but certainly not always.
And in most instances they produce some nice weed, just not as much of it as a photo (but there are exceptions there as well because I've grow a few big ones.)

I've got lots of nice auto weed jarred up or vacuum sealed now and that makes it easier for me to wait on photos. So I'm kinda' moving away from autos for a bit.

And maybe that was their real appeal all along. When I started growing I was determined to stop giving my money to local suppliers. The autos gave me a way to fill up a lot of jars fast! :Rasta:

I agree, @Carcass, the mystery is alluring, like a "box of chocolates."

Thanks, but I misspoke- the son in Az. is my second oldest son- my oldest son is @Justin Goody , a staff member on the forum...I've got 4 sons, apparently it's hard to remember who's older than who :)

That makes sense. I've debated throwing one in my veg tent in the past when I've had spare space as my clones don't spend long in there and i rarely keep mothers.

Thanks for the explanation, insightful :high-five: And i'm glad you filled those jars. I'm going through that process as we speak. Nothing like home grown :ganjamon:

LOL. I have one 30-year old son. Easy for me, he's my youngest and my oldest. :laughtwo:

Yup, nothing like home grown, @GoogleGenie. And it's free (aside from the costs of the gear, seeds, nutrients, soil, buckets, water, electricity and a collection of gadgets).

Pfft... there's at least 11 days left before I'd consider anything... :cheesygrinsmiley:
You're still in the fauxto club, NC. It doesn't matter how long it took you to decide to join! :laughtwo:

Hello growers.

I spent this morning up-potting my latest fauxto and moving her into the basement tent under a 12/12 cycle. She went from a 3 gallon pot to a 5 gallon. In the pic she looks quite sad. That's because I had allowed her soil to dry out in preparation to up-pot her and she drooped.

Now I am concerned about her distance to the light compared to her tent mates. I may have to elevate her tent mates and raise the light a little.

I'll check it later with my lux meter. Right now I am tired.

This set-up I have with 2 tents on the top floor and one in the basement is wearing my old ass out. I spend a lot of time every day walking up and down flights of stairs. The situation is worsened by the fact that my feet have aged faster than any of my other body parts! :Rasta:

Let's go Kansas City Chiefs!

Peace.

I feel bad for laughing bro but you write funny as hell.
Setup look beautiful, and i hope your feet are as well:p

Laugh all you want, Beast! It's truly the best medicine, with weed a close second! :Rasta:

But look at the bright side- It's a good cardio workout, and you're gonna end up with buns of steel!

LMAO, Carcass!

I'd be okay with flabby buns if I could get everything on the same floor!

I think this is really the factor that made me start with autos myself.. once you’re not worried about filling jars, photos are the better option cause of the much higher potential that’s there... of course I understand situations like carcass and his tiny box where autos just make life much easier.
