GG7's Indoor/Outdoor Grows!

Hey Goose. Glad everything went well with Medicinal Organics. Can you tell us a little bit about the new clones/strains, any of them high CBD strains?

Hi Subbie! Thanks.

Not sure what I have here at the moment. I will report back with a full report early this coming week with some transplant photos and such.

Right now it is cloudy and COLD here. 45 degrees F at 11:30 AM! Fortunately, we had a thick cloud layer move in overnight and that prevented the temps from falling into the low 30s as had been predicted as recently as yesterday afternoon.

I am keeping everything where it is for today and once we see the warming trend move in, I will move everything back out to their normal locations. I will be transplanting these new clones at that time.

Picked up 5 bags of Cocoblend this morning, so I am ready to roll when the weather improves.

Stay tuned! :thanks:

hi mate, hows it going, new grow space for the plants then, i would use my bathroom and make the kids bath in a tin tub in front of the pretend electric flyer, but i need the bath i only have 1 and theirs 3 of us living here, me and my 2 kids so it gets used a lot, so not possible, if i had the chance id take the bath out and use the room, 7ft by 7ft, only small as i have seperate toilet room, but would make perfect grow room, now windows for people to see, electric fan that comes on when its to humid, like when the bathroom is steamed up.

im having huge problems with my grow, not sure if the plants are normal or suffering

you know these air pots, well i just found out my mates got a plastic forming machine and loads of sheets of coloured plastic, what it does is heats the plastic sheets up till they soft and melted then you pull the plastic onto what ever your making a copy of and it sucks the air out and when its cool after about 30 sec its the exact shape of the mould, and he has plastic that can roll up cuz i tried some today, so im thinking i could make something for him to have as as a template to melt the plastic over, im thinking i could use something like a load of sockets from my tool box, or get a load of thimbles off my moms and stick a load of them over a sheet of wood then make the plastic melt over that, he uses it for making parts for inside cars as he modds cars, he does the inside and speaker stuff so makes boxes and dashboard and door panel stuff and i do the engine work, i never knew he had one of these till i showed him these pots online, he grows as well and suffers with pains due to motorbike crash a few years ago, lost his spline and got busted up bad, so is suffering now he is older, but when i showed him he said they look pretty basic and cant understand why they cost so much, they would be easier to make than a normal pot as its totally flat and rolls up, i think i could build them cheaper than i can buy them, my question is, could it work

hi mate, hows it going, new grow space for the plants then,

Hi Don,

Only for a few days until the weather improves.

Actually, the tub is one of TWO indoor growing stations I use every year, but usually not in late May! ;) I use this and the other space for over wintering up to four clones for next season, getting our pepper seeds sprouted and raised starting in March before final outdoor planting in May, or in rare cases like this, an emergency staging area if we get a freak weather system come through like we did this week.

Anything small or just spouting automatically gets moved into this grow station or the other one where my cloner resides. Only needed to use this one this time since everything else is large enough to handle the cold if covered with plastic. I've also used it as a flowering station if I want to see what a new strain's buds are going to be like before they would naturally produce outside.

The lighting is a single Hydrofarm Designer Series 8 tube High Output T5 fixture with a combo of 3x6500k and 3x3600k tubes, staggered. Also have three fans on a timer for circulation and a hose connected to the sink for easy watering.

Indeed, bathtubs make great growing stations due to the drain of course! This is a third bathroom that gets little use, so we leave it set up as a grow station all year round and can fire it up in a few minutes if something comes up. :)

I highly recommend it to anyone with a second bathroom with a tub that you can dedicate for this purpose once in awhile! Works great for me! :)

The first couple of pages of this journal has more detailed photos of the setup in there.

3 bathrooms, sure your not living in the white house, im lucky i got one, i spent a lot of time living in bed sits, which is basically on old victorian house turned into flats, so the living room would be a bedrrom, basically all the rooms would contain a bed and a sofa and places to put your clothes, and if your lucky you might get a shower in the corner, if not you got to use the shared bathroom and kitchen, not nice but when left home on my own and went traveling the country i ended up down south and had no money so lived in these cheap places, some where nice others wasnt, the one in the winter you could freeze the clothes you washed, had all old style windows with loads of gaps, i used to fill the holes with plastic bags thats how big the holes where, the radiators didnt work, the room had no vents so every time i used the shower it got damp, then i had mushrooms growing on the skirting boards, but it was rough but the place i was staying in was so nice, the people where amazing and the way of life was so laid back, its where my mom has just taken my kids, they renting a static caravan so wont suffer like i did, plus its summer and its far enough south to have really nice weather.

i got lucky the one time their was 6 of us living in this massive house and i was only paying £40 a week for the room, shared bathroom and kitchen, then 1 day the fire brigade came round to check we was all safe, and they said only 1 person could live their as it only had the stairs as a fire escape the house was above a shop so needed to go up the stairs to get up to the house and as it only had this stairs leaving the property the landlord had to kick everone out but was allowed 1 person stopping their, anyway i ended up with a 7 bedroom house all to myself and the rent, yep £40 a week, i signed the agreement for 2 years and he couldnt do nothing about it, but he was a good bloke, but having a house that big to live in on my own was pretty crazy, its just a shame the only room with furniture was my bedroom and kitchen and bathroom the other rooms was empty, great for parties and easy to clean,

anyways back to the grow, i been having problems with leaves dying and wilting, all the old leaves on my 2 biggest plants well in flower are dying, all the big fan leaves are turning light green and wilting, im hoping its just the normal life cycle of these plants, all the bud leaves and leaves on the plant where the buds are are perfect its just the oldest leaves on the plant and the biggest fan leaves, is it doing this as its putting all the energy into growing the buds, i mean as its not been pollenated is the plant going into over drive to keep the buds viable as long as it can before the end of its flowering season

Sorry to hear about your plant problems and your limited growing space. You obviously can't take over a single bathroom in a situation like yours!

Not sure about the plastic forming machine. I would think you would need a copy of a real Air Pot to get the form accurate, or try to go from pictures off the web. All that is totally out of my league so I can't advise you on that I'm afraid.

As far as your plants go... Based on your description, that sounds like normal flowering behavior to me. Go back to my last year's harvest photos and take a look at what the plants look like at chopping time. Everything but the buds are looking pretty ratty by the end. So... I wouldn't worry about it as long as the flower buds themselves look normal and healthy.

Hope that helps!

Let me know if you need more info. :)

thanks mate, makes me worry a lot less, i have been watching grow dvd's that i downloaded like jorge cervantes and that and their was loads of plants that looked worse than mine towards the end of flower, but my soil is very fast draining, as soon as i pour in a pint of water it comes out the bottom before i finished pouring it in the top, so now ive put dishes under the pots and ill let them stand in that over night tonight and if their is still water in the dishes ill take them out then when i water put the plants back in the dishes and say give them 4 hours to soak up what they need.

you give me a good idea about the air pots, if i could get hold of one, i could use that as a template, the machine is like a big press, its like looking at a scanner, say the glass on the scanner is the plastic, and its heated with wire strips under neath that are red hot, then you heat it up till the plastic sags in the middle, then you pull a leaver and it lifts the mould up into this now soft plastic and as your pushing the mould up it sucks all the air out so the plastic is the exact same as the mound, he uses wood and bits to make his template or mould out of, then he just puts it in this like press and it gives him the exact thing her has just made out of wood or plastic, chances are its the exact way these parts are made, but the makes probably use sheets of plastic that are 20metres by 20 metres then cut it down, this maching does about 2 meter by 2 meter or smaller depending on what he is making, so if i got one of the air pots, even a second hand one off the auction site, and cover it in something to stop the 2 sticking together, he as got some grease type spray for this, then i could make them on mass, great idea mate, ill reps you if i can, if not i gota spread some more love first, so ill reps you when it lets me, ill try and get just one, i only need the 3.5g one and the base as that looks easy to make as well, we done all this at school with these plastic machines just on a smaller scale, we made music boxes and stuff, carved the shape out of wood then used the machine, i think its called a plastic former

watch this video this is what he got, watch it to the end and you will see exactly how it works, i think his is slightly bigger than this then you can let me know if you think it might be worth a try as you have got the pots to look at
Thermoplastic Vacuum Forming Process - Live - YouTube

this video is probably how they make them in mass production, if you look how quick it is you might see why i think their on the expensive side, they would take seconds to make and pack, a long blade could cut the holes or a mass drilling machine, but this is probably how they make them

forgot to add, added another 10 gallon pot under my BIG plant (angel heart) because it was root bound in a 15 gallon! Im excited about this plant. looks SOOOOO much happier now I've given it more room to stretch! :Namaste:

i know you wouldnt have the holes in the end of the bits that stick out but it wouldnt take long to run a drill through the holes or something hot, im just thinking if i can make them for next to nothing, the plastic he gets costs pennies to buy as he buys in bulk, i wouldnt even need to pay for the plastic or the use of the machine, or if i put something in the holes of the original pot like stuck a match or 2 matches in each hole then form the plastic over it and then all i would need to do is get a saw or grinder and just grind them bits off and it would give me the wholes, they wouldnt cost the people who make them properly much money so i cant see why they cost so much would cost nothing to make really, pence, not pounds per pot to make, so how can they charge so much, im thinking its the kind of product that will end up been sold in the discount stores and the pound shops, i think when i looked last they was nearly £30 for 3 pits 3.5gallon ones, i could get 30 normal size pots for that, it was just an idea, just thought id run it buy you as i have the machine and plastic to use, all i would need is the pot and base for template and i could make them on mass, i would sell them but probably copy righted, if they can get the copy right for them as some things you cant get copyright protection

Hi Buddy :bravo:

Just think of today, as a day to catch up on things and a bit of a rest for what's coming. INFERNO sounds very interesting. Glad the cloud covering helped your temps. Hope your friend can become a sponsor. There is starting to be a little of everything in your Journal. :high-five:

Hi there OMM! How's things going out there on Paradise Island? :)

Taking the day off from gardening is exactly what I did for the most part today. I transplanted a few of the new OM clones into pots this morning cause they were not handling the heat in the grow room well and were wilting. (rockwool) But the rest of them are doing fine, so I left everything else where it was for the cold weather for one more day.

My plan is to transplant the rest of them in the AM and take a few photos of these new strains with OM's description of each strain. Only one not listed on their site is this one called "Inferno" cause it is new. I will have to hear back from Alex on what the lineage of that one is before I can pass that info along.

Weather is warming up, so the plan is to move everything back out to their previous locations at sunup tomorrow.

Stay tuned for a full update coming soon! :thumb:

i was reading about this double potting method and saw it in a dvd, it said its the best way to get taller plants, their was more as well ill try and find it

Hee hee.... Taller plants have never been something I strive for. I much prefer them short and bushy and do my best to keep them all under 6 feet. I've gotten the best buds from plants in the 4-5 foot height range. Provided that you top them when they hit about 3 feet tall so as to push the secondary branches out to take over as the primary growing tips. Those ultimately become the main budding sites during flower. 4-5 is much better than one big cola IMHO. ;)

Too true. One big cola has one big STEM!

Harlequin GDB and Purple Rhino Seedling Update

This shot shows PR #1 in the front of a row of our hybrid Red Jalapeno Pepper plants that were planted back in early March. They are just now starting to put out flower buds that will eventually turn into 3" - 4" long pepper pods. By September these plants will be about 4 feet tall. (Very slow growing compared to Cannabis!)
