GG7's Indoor/Outdoor Grows!

Weekend Update
Full photo update of all of the 2012 outdoor grow

Sorry for the long delay between updates... Things have been really busy around here lately so I haven't had much time to post anything until tonight.

Lets just get right to it! :thumb:

So there ya have the latest! Everything is growing great and we are slowly moving our way through the long veg season. As soon as the Harlequin and PR are large enough, I will take some cuttings and try to figure out how many females we have in the bunch.

Stay tuned and thanks as always for checking in! :cheertwo::Namaste:

ahhhhhh GG7! Nice update buddy! looking really good out there on that sierra nevada country side :)

That PR 1 does look kinda like the harlequin, but it has funky 3 fingers where as the PR has a very interesting 5.
Looking good. :thumb:

Hey MS! Thanks Man! ;)

I've seen a lot of odd leaf configs with the plants this season. As you may have noticed in some of the clone photos, a few of the GDP and BC clones had single leaves at the base of the plant with no typical multi-spikes at all! They all seem to eventually fill out and start making the typical 5 point pattern, but some seem to take their sweet time getting to that stage. I've seen this before, but not with this many plants. (About 4 out of the 12 clones) It could have something to do with the very changeable weather we have been seeing so far this year.

A week ago, we got back down into the high 30s overnight for several nights after a previous 7 days of highs close to 90 degrees and lows in the low 50s! Then it heads back to April like temps, and then shoots back up to seasonal norms for June! Very odd indeed!

Our pepper plants are definitely not growing as fast as last year's crop although they are starting to put out flowers. I attribute the slower than normal vertical growth to the same weather/temp related issues. I figure that once July and August rolls around things will start behaving more typically for this point in their various life cycles.

With the Cannabis, I never loose any sleep over a plant that is putting out single, double or 3 pointed leaves since eventually, they always all seem to come around and start putting out the 5 pointed variety as they get older and the veg season hits the mid-point.

Hey, there GG7! Lookin' good as always.

Question: I had a couple of GDP clones that started doing the same as your GDP#6. What the heck causes that? It got the same light, food, and fan as all the others, but just gave 1-3 fingers per (pseudo)fan. "Pseudo" because I really can't within myself call a single finger a fan leaf, lol! Is there any way to fix it?

Hi Jandre!

As I mentioned in my last post, I think it has to do with low temps and also with total light cycle levels. The few times I have revegged a harvested plant I have seen single leaves come out as the plant transitions back from flower mode to veg mode. I put all these plants out in late April where we were just starting to get 13 hours of daylight a day. I think a few of these started to go into flower mode, and then stopped and went into veg mode and their leaf production was still leaning towards the flowering form of leaf development.

Couple things to try would be to increase the light cycle to a few hours longer than where you have it now, and keep your temps above 75 degrees to simulate summer conditions.

In my experience, these plants all eventually start putting out normal looking leaves, but they tend to be slower growers which is why I suspect that for whatever reason, they wanted to go into flower but didn't have enough total dark hours to do it fully, and are basically hovering in the nether world between flower and veg.

Hey Buddy! Great update! Sorry the weather is still crazy.

Easy favorite from the pictures, the GDP! :thumb:

Hey OMM!!!

Yeah.... It has been a WHACKY year for weather around here. All the plants and trees have been doing things they don't normally do. The over the top pine pollen output has been the most notable for long time residents of our area. None of us have ever seen so much pine pollen on everything and continuing this late into the season.

For example... I washed my car a few weeks back and before I could even get the thing dried off, the front half of the car was already covered in a fine dusting of YELLOW pollen dust. All the water runoff from our watering is full of the stuff. Looks like mustard running down the driveway and down the road! Really heavy amounts, and this stuff gets into your nose and your lungs and can really be a problem if you have an allergy to it, which I slightly do.

Never had so many sneezing fits and coughing spells in the 25+ years I have lived here. Hope this isn't going to become normal!

Signature Update!

Hey gang! Just a quick note to report that I have updated my signature to include a few of the more popular sections of this 12 month old journal!

If anyone can think of any other sections of this journal that should be added as a quicklink in my signature, by all means let me know! :thumb:

Considering how big this thing is getting, I thought it might be a good time to pick out some of the more interesting sections from last year, as well as some of the HOW TO related posts. Not just from me, but from other well respected regulars on this site who have contributed greatly to this journal over the last 12 months! :Namaste::thanks:

Thanks in advance for any input!
:thanks:

those airpots really produce some good results huh? Your plants look AMAZING! Do the roots ever slip through those holes? Either way great looking plants as always! WOW! +reps my man!

Hey Deege!

Thanks! Yep! Most of the holes in all the various Air Pots have root tips peeking through them. ;) I will be needing to transplant most of my seedlings into larger Air Pots in the next 7-10 days, so I will take some photos of the root balls when I "unwind" them from their current smaller Air Pots.

Then everyone can see with their own eyes how much more dynamic the root structure of a Cannabis plant can get when grown in one of these Air Pots. :)

Stay tuned and thanks for staying subscribed! :thumb:

Things looking good out there GG!:goodjob: I've seen them GDP leaves on my friends Pineapple Chunk re-veg, I think it was to do with taking a clone in flower and pushing back to veg.

Hey JBC!

Yep... I think I put my clones out a week or two too early this year, and even though we were at a little over 13 hours of daylight a day, it wasn't enough to prevent a few of the clones from entering early flower mode. This only lasted for a few weeks and then we got closer to 14 hours and they headed back the other way.

Next year, I plan to put a few large CFLs outside on a timer to give the plants another couple of hours of light after sunset until we get above 14 naturally.

great idea with the cfls,

Thanks! I actually went ahead and rigged up an outdoor array of high output CFLs that come on at 7PM and run until 10:30PM. I figured that this way, I can control when the plants start to go into flower outside. Last year I had some that started as early as early July, and I may not be ready to take cuttings for clones that early in the summer.

I figure that with these lights, I can keep them all in veg as long as I want. :)

Very cool GG7 :thumb: any pics of that array(s)? Sounds like a great plan. I sure hope it works out for you the way you want.

Can't wait for the weekend update!

:peace: brotha!

Thanks guys!

I have only been running these lights for 3 hours after dark, but we got word today that a Mountain Lion has killed several local cats recently near our property line, so until they track down this lion, I running them from 7PM until dawn.

Hope the forestry service is able to track it down, trap it and relocate it far away from this area.

Until that happens, I loaded up my Colt Python .357 magnum and have it positioned near the back door. I hate killing things, but if that pet killer gets anywhere near our back deck and cat door its gonna get a hollow point between the eyes.;)

No photos this week, but I did take cuttings from all four Harlequin plants as well as the most mature Purple Rhino today and have them running in my cloner on a 12/12. Just added some B1 to the cloner water and will let them go without any light until 7:30AM tomorrow which will start the 12/12 cycle.

I will get some photos of that progress soon.

Stay tuned! :)

bluddy hell mate, lions, what ever next, the worse we get is the odd fox, small fluffy things that run away when they see you, thats about as lively as the wildlife gets here, you have to watch out from the native kids, they can be pretty vicious sometimes, lol, lions n guns, we dont have either here, my dogs about the nastiest thing where i live,
