GG7's Indoor/Outdoor Grows!

looks good! Goose! My spring mother plant outside is doing ok! I found a spider mite infestation on one of her buds. Any tips on fighting them this late in flower? I just sprayed it down with tap water and pulled the webs off with my fingers so far.
It has been extra dry here so it has not helped things. :thumb:

Tough call on how to treat a flowering plant with mites!

Old Med Man has informed us that he has sprayed with Neem Oil in the past with no ill effects on the smokability of the bud involved.

I would suggest first just spraying down the plant with some water at moderate presure, like from a garden hose with a nozzle. After that, maybe try some Neem Oil if it doesn't look like you have gotten them off!

Not sure about using the Sierra mite spray on a close to harvest plant. Only time I used it was on vegging plants and it worked great! I ran out of the stuff, and based on budget issues, I couldn't afford to buy any more of it. Had some Neem Oil in the tool box, so I went with that. Not as effective and definitely not an immediate solution cause Neem Oil plays with genetics rather than killing on contact.

Spider Mites are a pain in the butt under any circumstances.

Agreed.

you know these mite, well isnt their know way you can kill them with co2, couldnt you put the plant in a big plastic bag and pump co2 in for an hour or so, would this possibly get rid of them, i have seen others use it on other plants and even growers putting their plants in bags to give more co2, just wondered if the lack of oxygen would kill them and would mean no chemicals on the plant, plus the co2 would benefit the plant as well, could it possibly work

That would definitely work! Only problem is obtaining the CO2, and then being able to flood a closed and "air tight" space with it long enough to get the job done.

No doubt that this would be the most effective and least intrusive solution, if you can pull it off.

isnt their no way you could put each plant in a bag and seal the top then pump the co2 in via a hose, you could get the cannisters of co2 and pump this into the bag and it should be sealed enough to kill them, i dont think you could implement this for a whole room, but if you only had a low number of plants then im sure you could find some big bags and sit the plants in and tie the top and suck what air is in their out, then fill with co2, i dont think it would take long to kill them all either this way, but you would need a bottle of co2 and some air tight bags possibly that let light through to prevent any dark period, i know you can get big clear bags on a role that would hold a bigish plant, but it would mean buying co2 im sure you could pump it in via hose and leave it to sit and top up as needed to keep the bag inflated, this should prevent air getting in as long as the bag stayed sort of inflated by the co2, it could be worth a try if anyone is using co2 to supliment the grow room with, just have to get some bags and make sure their was no rips to let air in else it would be pointless,

just thought id mention it thats all, just in case it is useful to anyone who all ready has co2 in their grow room, i dont think it would be to hard to set up, not something you could do on your own as you would need someone to lift the plant and someone to hold the bag, but if anyone does try it then make sure the air is well vented when you open the bags for obvious reasons

NO! Humidity will rot your tops if you put them in a bag!! Well, theoretically, it is a good way to do it if you are trying to isolate 1 plant.... IF the bag is big enough. Only the required hour of 1000ppm of CO2, then take it down again. If done properly, I guess it could work. The only reason I say, "NO" is that people are forgetful... It could stay in the bag too long and humidity would build up too high. One would have to be very careful this way.

Hi My Friend :Namaste:

I've been riding along with you...learning more as I go. Your weather has been a trip. It seems to change daily at times. Put them out, put em back in, and out back, glad your strong. Your place looks beautiful....I would be sitting out there every chance I got. Hope the weather finally stabilizes for you. Those two girls out back look shabby, but should server you well for why you have them. Just interesting as can be as per your usual! :peace:

Hey OMM!

Yep...It shows what can happen when you don't follow normal proceedures.

These are basically the reasons why I think these mother plants are not as impressive as my normal grows tend to be...

1) Vegged twice as long as normal cycle
2) Severe stress due to the use of that toxic/misformulated BPN plant food
3) Put out without allowing them to adjust to real sunlight
4) Wild temp swings due to erratic weather here

All things considered, the fact that these plants lived long enough to flower at all is somewhat of a miracle in and of itself! ;)

Thanks for the tips guys! They seem to be gone we just had a couple inches of rain the last couple of days. I used a leaf blower to dry her off this morning. lol!

HAPPY 420 Day Everyone! :cheertwo:

Just transplanted a couple more clones into 3.5 gal Air Pots and put them outside. Going to use them as a test to make sure the light levels are long enough right now to prevent them from trying to go into flower. Got two BC and one GDP out there on the back hill alongside the four flowering mother plants.

No photos today. I plan to post another photo update tomorrow or Sunday. Stay tuned!

P.S... How do you guys like the new 420 site design? I like it overall, but the font sizes of the forums is a lot smaller on my MacBook Pro 15".

Weekend Update!
Mothers and Clones

Everything is progressing on schedule here as the mother plants have hit the 8 week mark. I am going to give them a bit more time because it looks like there are seeds in dem buds!

Blue Cheese

Clones...

Three left to transplant

GDP #1 Busting Out! Need to get her outside soon!

Clones moved outside to test light cycle

So there we have it for this weekend!

I will probably be doing the last transplanting early this week, so I will try to post another photo update then.

Hope this all looks right! Not sure I like the new photo insert tools and behavior. Took me way longer to prepare this photo filled post.

Stay tuned!
:cheertwo:

Looking good my friend......That GDP is pregnant like you said....all your girls look great......good luck with all the work you have ahead. :high-five:

Thanks as always OMM! :)

No doubt about the work involved! Fortunately, once the plants get moved outside, all we need to do is keep them watered and they just do their thing without too much intervention on our part.

We are forecast to be getting some rain here on Wednesday, so based on that, I plan to harvest the mother plants on Tuesday before they get wet.

Stay tuned. :)

The Blue Cheese and GDP buds are amazing. Very nice! :goodjob:

Thanks XL!

I am pleased that they managed to turn out so good in spite of the various issues over the winter and the length of time they had to veg for before I could flower them. I'm likely not going to use any of this bud for consumption, since I am primarily after any seeds that may be contained inside the flowers.

I will hang dry them as usual and see what I end up with.

Should have a harvest photo update sometime on Tuesday.

Stay tuned! :)

hey Goose! Looking good out there :thumb:
So I can't remember did you intentionally pollenate the GDP moms?

:peace:

Hey MS!

Yes. I had that White Rhino pollen from last year that I sprinkled all over the flower tops of all four of these at week 2 of their flower cycle. Not sure if I have viable seeds or not, but the buds do look a lot different than normal. More swollen in those little pockets around the flower top. They feel firm, so I think there are seeds in there.

I decided to go ahead and chop the two more straggly GDP mothers this morning. Took a few quick photos of the parts I am going to hang dry. The stuff was VERY sticky and has that great GDP aroma, but the buds are much smaller than my usual harvests.

Check em out!
