GG7's Indoor/Outdoor Grows!

Hi GG7.......I put your PM solution on a note, just in case I need it. Thanks! :thumb:

Good deal OMM! :)

I got that recipe from a study that was done down in South America regarding the control of PM using natural organic solutions. The Milk solution came out of that study, and was scientifically proven to be an effective control agent against the growth of PM on most plants effected, which fortunately includes Cannabis. :)

Obviously, everyone around here who has tried it has seen the same impressive results in erradicating PM from ther crops!

hey goose! Just doing a drive by to see how you and yours are doing. Hope the plants are well and that the weather is cooperating with your schedule.
I also stopped by to grab your cloning tip procedure. I am doing this to a few plants tonight and wanted a refresher. Any thoughts on the procedures that are not in the tutorial?
Talk to you soon

:peace:

Hey MS!

I've been out of town for the last week and just got back yesterday. The plants are looking great and growing rapidly. I will be posting a photo update here after this reply.

As for the cloning of your growing tips... Are you using a cloner? The only thing you need to watch for is black stem rot since the larger stems are more prone to this than thinner cuttings, but if you can keep the cuttings healthy during the rooting process, you will end up with a good size plant that would take a month or more to grow to that size from seed.

A couple of table spoons of 3% hydrogen peroxide in the cloner water helps to keep the bugs at bay! :)

:)

PHOTO UPDATE!
2012 Crop Coming Along Nicely

Here are some photos I took just now of the 2012 crop. The entire lineup is growing nicely and getting bigger every day.

Rest of the Line up

The weather has turned very hot up here and it looks like the threat of any frosty mornings is behind us! The length of the day is getting longer now and the plants are taking full advantage of the intense mountain sunshine and cool evenings.

I will be back with another update in a week or two.

Stay tuned! :)

loving the air pots, never saw them before, do you think they make much difference, if i remember right it lets the roots grow through to the hole at the end of each bump where it lets it get air, it also stops the root growing any longer as it dies off when it gets out the holes so prevents the pots getting root bound, would love to try some but not seen them where i am

I have seen a significant improvement in plant health and overall growth rate using Air Pots. I over wintered my four mother plants using these pots and I attribute them to helping me save these plants when they nearly died after using some contaminated plant food. The air holes allowed for a more thorough flushing of the toxins and permitted me to rejuvinate the effected soil quickly.

I HIGHLY recommend them. I bought mine from CalGrowers here in California via their web site. They aren't cheap, but they are 100% reusable, easy to remove from the old soil for quick reuse, and promote impressive root structure that you just can't get from a conventional pot.

Ahh man Goose those are looking really great out there :high-five:
I know you have 11 out there now, how many did you have out last season?

I am not using an aero cloner. I am using a self watering soil based seedling cloner with a humidity dome and seedling heat mat. I did let the tips soak in the cloning gel for a while first. We shall see how this goes and the plants I took the tips from are smaller veg plants as I wanted to use a UBT style method for topping, but didn't want to waste the tips.

anyway thanks for the tips and update :thumb: Looking stellar as usual!

:peace: friend :)

i was just reading back a few pages and looking at your buds then i noticed the post about milk and pm, is this normal milk your talking about or something that contains milk, im not having any pm problems yet but my plants are only a few weeks into flower but if i can prevent it at first site then it will save me losing a load of bud to it,

NONFAT milk is what you need to use. It still has all the various anti fungal stuff in it without the fat which is the first thing to start to decompose when left out in the air. :)

Thanks MS!

You should have no problem cloning those growing tips, but using your method is just going to take longer. Just keep an eye on them for any wilty behavior and within maybe 3-4 weeks you will have some roots coming out of them. For some reason, growing tips take a lot longer to clone than side cuttings. Not sure why since you would assume that the tip would have the most desire to grow, but that has been my experience.

Good luck with that! When I get some free time I will pop over and check out your journal.

We are planting our somewhat extensive tomato crop this week and this is occupying all of my free time right now.

Oh!... I had 28 plants going out back last season.

thanks, do you just spray the milk over the mildey and let it run off, is that whats best to do or do you have to soak the leaves in say a small cup so the leave is covered or is a spray all thats needed, also can milk be used on the buds as well or will it mess the buds up, i know you more than likely start to notice it on the leaves, its just a method ive never heard of, i think ill go and have a look round the net and see what it says, sounds to me like a very cheap and friendly was of stopping the problem

just found something, it says mix 1 part milk to 9 parts water, so theirs me thinking you spray pure milk on it, or even hold the leaves in a cup of milk giving them a drink, my bad

it says this as well
The milk is also a foliar fertilizer, which means it's feeding the leaves at the same time that it's controlling the powdery mildew.
so sounds like its good for the plant and can improve the quality of the leaves

I've got a whole section about this back in this journal. It is a mixture of non fat milk and regular water. No need to pH it or anything. Just mix it up and put in in a spray bottle. The nice thing about this is that you can use it on flowering plants and spray it right onto buds without any problem.

Put the extra in the fridge cause it will go bad rather quickly if left out at room temp or higher. I guess you could add some Sodium Benzoate to the solution which is a food preservative and then it should stay good at room temp for a long time. Never do that here though since I always go through everything I mix up with as many plants as I have, and by October, all of them are getting attacked by PM.

Thats just the way it is up here cause the PM lives on the forest floor, so spores are in the air all the time.

i think the milk is some great info, ive read a few journals where people have got pm, and now i can tell them something that works, im still amazed at how much i learn on this site, and no need for chemicals, such a basic and safe fix,

Thanks MS!

From what I understand, growing tips take longer because of the massive amounts of (N) feeding them, once that runs out the nodes will seek other methods of gaining what it needs. Thus, if you (N) starve the mother plant for 3-7 days before grooming/topping/clipping, the clones will root faster. I tried this and now, when I take cuttings I get roots from the growing tips in 6-11 days.

Just to add, and because I ALWAYS have it handy, here's the link...GG7's Indoor/Outdoor Grows! so anyone else that would like to check it out may do so with ease.

thanks for the link to the exact post about the milk, im sure it will be usefull for everyone, is their anything in the how to on the site as i think thats a great tip for most growers to be aware of, ive seen loads of growers pull their crop early due to noticing the start of pm, so using this could keep the plants growing till they finish, great tip

Thanks for posting that link Jandre! :thumb:

I had planned to do that myself but I have been so busy with all the vegetable planting that I haven't gotten around to it yet.

I decided to go ahead and plant four of those Purple Urkle/Purple White Rhino seeds I got from last years Urkle crop. Going to see what I end up with. I've got 8 of the smaller 1.5 gallon Air Pots that are not much use for anything but seedlings, so I went ahead and filled them with Cocoblend and we shall see what comes up.

I also called my local dispensary and they have some stock of Medicinal Organics "Harlequin" in stock. This is that super high CBD strain that is very low in THC but close to 0.25% CBD, so I am heading into town later to pick up a packet of those and will plant a half dozen of these seeds in these small Air Pots and see what pops up.

What I would like to do is isolate a male of this strain and use it to pollenate some of my GDP and Blue Cheese with this pollen and see if I can get a higher CBD version of both my GDP and Blue Cheese strains. M.O.N was the seed stock that raised my original Blue Cheese and it has obviously been a stellar strain, so I am a big fan of M.O.N's work with creating memorable strains of some of the hard to find strains out there.

More on that later after I get the seeds planted. :)
