Ganesha's Tent

Can I just check what soil you are using for reference.?
Ah it's DCM bio soil for Olive,Figs & Citrus.. contains pumice, cocos and woodfibre.

But it's probably not that and just the bugs, as I'm still finding messed up leaves with eggy like things.
No more gnats buzzing though!
It's just some leaves going bad don't look like they have a bunch of crap underneath, but then some do.
Euhm so neemoil? don't have any but I could get some of that, probably handy to have.
I still think its thrips as the damage early on looked very trippy.
The SNS thing I can't find around here.
There's some sprays that say for thrips but they don't get any approval from the buyers, as in don't work.
Potassium salt? or at the same price, Orius reduviidae which is a critter that eats them.

Hiya fender.
That mixture is quite good with pumice for drainage but with the added coco I don't think you can class it as 'soil'. Its whats known as a soiless mix. Some like a lower ph than soil.
With the mention of coco that's @Bill284 speciality. Maybe he'll be able to set us straight.

Good morning @Listersmeghead :ciao: hope your having a good day my friend.
I didn't understand the question.
Soilless mixes like dwc prefer a lower ph.
5.8 in coco, Bokashi , Frass and Perilite mix.

Stay safe
Bill

Yeah I'm good thanks bill, hope the weather up there is behaving for you and your plants.

Fenderbender has just read the bag his medium is from and it contains coco, pumice and woodfibre...I don't use coco and don't know about mixes..so was just wondering your thoughts about the ph to be used.

For #&é"&" sake.. now I'm greeted with another first... there's frickin mold growing on the soil. Suddenly an area has all fuzzy patches. What the hell, never had that before. But well I never had a gnat problem that was this severe although none of them are flying around anymore.. should I have left them? were they fungus gnats eating the mold?

hmm what to do, spray it down with vinegar and scoop it off?

Have you put anything in the soil to produce beneficial fungi?

Stay safe

Hmm, I did feed some Zamnesia monster bud which is from bionova and is supposed to improve root system.
It does contain micro organisms, bentonite, vinasse, cacao, enzymes, aminoacids, vitamins, nutrients and natural chelated trace elements.
Although I've never seen it create fuzzy patches though.

People pay good money trying to make a colony of good mold like that..
Maybe later see if you can mix this soil with future soil to keep it alive.
Bonus.. :thumb:
Just don't let it grow on the plant. Lol.

Say could it be that rust fungus thing?
As in some picture I've seen that looks very similar to the damage I've been experiencing.
I've had to get rid of loads of leaves again that were keeling over.
I finally got the neemoil boy that smells interesting, and I hosed her down with that.. bit warm water, soapdrop & neemoil and spray spray spray.
also the branches are pretty floppy :/
I mean I don't blame her, she's had heavy infestation, a transplant and now she's not in a breathy pot.

And I got something else in the mail today, a real challenge
some gym rings :D and I kid you not there's already improvement in my shoulder at the end of the day, I've had a sore shoulder for months probably from the bag next to it, and what I mainly practiced today was just hanging and some rows. And well I can take my shirt off and on now without soreness and mobility already improved.
I read a bit that hanging was pretty vital for shoulder health and we'll we evolved that way but don't really practice it anymore in daily life.

Hiya fender.
The plant looks great to me.
If there was something seriously wrong you'd be seeing alot more damage.

Leave a damaged leaf in place next time so we can see what's going on.
When I've sprayed with neem in the past the plant does go droopy for a while, then rebounds..
Like I said the plant looks great to me.

Ah the branches feel a bit stronger again, I've also lowered the light yesterday as I'm thinking she might be hungry for light as well this is a photoperiod with only 12 hours now and used to becoming a big plant no auto and what does the SP-150 draw 139-141 watts?
I was only getting 20mol/md on the DLI so I've increased that.

But the leaves are a problem as it's still happening.

@Listersmeghead @Bill284 see this keeps happening, soon leaf will get worse and curl over.
I'm gonna keep misting with neem so I make sure I have the undersides of the leaves covered.

I see it now..
Looks a little like insect damage..you'd have to be pest free to see if it was anything else.
It's only minor so can't be a major issue. The other thing that comes to mind if it's not pests is a MINOR ph or feed imbalance.
I highlight minor because it would only need slight adjustment.
But like I mentioned you'd have to be bug free to rule them out.
