*Upper leaves cal/mag def. popping up across plants. Pics taken.
Issue solved much later, read more at THIS THREAD, issue was lack of rez change for around 60 days leading to unbalance of nutes which lead to these random cal/mag issues all over plants. To remedy ill be doing a rez change every 14 days or 30 days.
*Raised light to 6" for tallest and 9" for shortest.
*5pm ph=5.66 - Added 1/2 TBS ph-up.

Nice roots :goodjob:
Thanks :D I'm very happy with how well they have developed thanks to Great White. So worth the money. This could also be somewhat due to not changing rez for almost 60 days so it had that environment built up good, even though it lead to toxi/defi.

Question on that 60 days. Doing my first RDWC and my res is going on about 11 days since last change. I was changing every 7, but the plant is looking ultra healthy and happy right now so I’ve just left it alone. Outside of routine and/or evident problems (smell, slime, etc.), is there a good way to determine when you need to change vs. just leaving things alone? I’m running Great White and Botanicare PBP.

Personally i feel like i might be able to get away with 30 day rez changes and i like the idea of the same environment existing for that long. When you change out the water/nutes every 14 days, you lose out on the stable environment it built up to that point but with added risk of unbalanced nutes leading to toxicities/deficiencies/lockouts. The fact that i've seen i can get 30 days with no signs of issue is exactly why im gonna keep trying 30 days. Now to answer your question, i don't think there are any ways to really tell aside from smell/root rot appearance. Maybe foamy water? I had some very slight bubble foam i noticed appearing before the calmag issues appeared maybe a week later, but i never noted it down. I guess it just comes down to experiencing your own environment to see how long you can go before issues arise, like in my case is 50-60 days lol. Thats why i feel half that time, 30 days, is a safe bet so im definitely gonna try it! I just refill with nutes based on the weekly measurements from the nutrient line recommended feeding schedule. Its definitely a must to rez change at flip though, so you can refill with the pre-flower nute measurements.

You are the man vys. holy crap these are trees. do love your journal style and updates but missed a few it seems. putting mi e to shame on all levels bud. wow.
great work.
Thanks! I know these tree's seriously surprised me! This grow is going very good and i hope i can get a good pound or 2 again :D Yours are also turning out great! Hydro ftw :D I dont think you missed em, i just posted them all just now and i still have 9 more days in flower to post (10 after tomorrow, im waiting until tomorrow morning so i can do a heavy defoliation as its a jungle in there again -.- ).

@Ganjagrandaddy im also very much so looking forward to how that hulkberry grows! I wanna try that one not next grow but likely the one after that! GG#4 has been my #1 favorite strain from EVERYONE that has tried it. I think it was rated around 24-26% thc, so with hulkberry thats gonna be awesome with that high 28%! Im working on making some femenized GG4 seeds when my gg4 seedling is big enough to force male and when i do, if you're in the US ill send you some to try for yourself!

Cool man, I actually like your logic and approach. It’s hard to look at a plant that’s clearly thriving and think it’s a good idea to muck with it. Btw, I use a product called ReCharge for my coco plants and actual vegetables, and it’s amazing. It turns water dark brown/ black, so I was hesitant to add to my res, but I just took the plunge and will let you know how it goes. May turn my roots black, but I know they’ll be healthy :)

If it works in DWC, the plant will be in bacteria heaven with that and GWS. Thanks for your reply and awesome job on your grow.

Interesting, isnt molasses black? I've never looked into molasses lol. Definitely keep me updated! I'm 100% all in for learning more beneficial's to add to rez! This is only my 2nd grow in RDWC so im still learning but i think im getting the hang of it pretty good so far! I hope you can get the same results with a good 30 days before rez change! Maybe thats why my GG4 tasted so good - because it went the full flowering cycle without a rez change lol. It did definitely have some calmag spotting on all the leaves towards the end of last grow but i didnt care as it was basically done.

thats the best part about RDWC or DWC, if you notice plants declining fast because of something you did, the fix will immediately take effect unlike soil!

LOL yeah, I’d say you are for sure. I’m running Botanicare PBP on my current grow (first RDWC) because I’ve heard it produces the best flavors, but unless it blows me away I think I’m going to a very simple nute lineup. Tired of having a million bottles around.

-VegBloom (One Part)
-Elite99 Root Stimulator
-ReCharge and Great White bennies

Thanks for the comments. i love the Gg. it is a big seller here too and smoking it myself as we type. Had to buy in since last crop ended and it kills me to do it. lol. I have 3 more Hulks to go into germ soon so can get them ready for next crop. have to clone though as need 8 to fill buckets. so far she is doing well and i like her vitality and structure a lot. as mentioned before , wish i had mire veg to see her true potential and size but she has fitted in and caught up to the canopy. Sadly I live in the UK but would have been honoured to grow a couple of your beans out Vys. Live the idea of seeding and it seems you have the cahoonas to learn and suceed here too.
have to say it mate but you are one of the reasons these forums work so well. You are a pioneer with your ideas and grows and i have gleaned so much info from them too. you are very supportive of fellow growers and with no financial gain , offer a lot of time in advice ,posts etc..
Thanks for being you Vys .

on the res changing. i have been going the gh trio nutes and have only changed so far because of nute changes to their feed amounts. a few of the weeks are tje same feed so ot seems crazy to wash it out if you know there hasnt been time to turn it toxic and by monitoring with meters, this is also evident. From exp with other mediums , it does seem destructive to wash the myco community and bennies out to have to rebuild the colony again !!. i get that if its foamy or looking out of whack somehow we change but cant see the logic of " because" 7 days have pasded. I know tap water had ppm and if we use too much as top up , we retip the balances out of synch eventually but 7 days seems way too short to do this. using the gh , the longest seems to be in last stage of flowering so will be 3 weeks . going with it and keeping check on ppm ect.. Like you , i am new to this medium amd only on my first one ( as you know mate) but am feeling more confident that previous grow knowledge now also comes in to play.
The proof of the logic is very evident in your grow as it is in mine too. keep up the great work mate

Thanks a lot bud, I really appreciate that. It's nice to hear it every now and again haha. I definitely try to help as best as I can, just as those who greatly helped me on day 1. I also enjoy challenging myself with others plant issues, it helps me confirm I know what I'm assuming and keeps my memory fresh (I forget things easy lol)
Keep up the great work yourself and before you know it you will be helping people just the same!

Those roots blow my mind! It's fun to see you grow. I'm really only familiar with soil grows. I'm enjoying the ride! Nice work on documentation of the pH,ppms levels too

Thanks! I am also very impressed with the roots this time! They are already as big as the roots from last grow at the END of harvest!
I like to be able to look back and see at what levels ph and pom were for future same strain reference. It also gives the viewers much more to follow and even more so for people new to dwc. Glad you like it!
