First Time Grow - The Incredible Bulk Feminized

Haha it is. My grow room is a freak. An unproven freak though so we'll see.
Its getting wet enough here I won't need it soon so I'll be using it for another cloner and to play around with running some bigger plants in fogponics.

Yea when you top them it will help encourage growth at all the lower nodes

My biggest gal of all perked right up after the topping, I've seen this in a time lapse video of a topped plant, it's like they get a high of stress induced adrenaline (or plant equivalent lol) then a little come down phase. Some have what look like tops coming out low areas and I have not topped those ones, I dunno they look great so I'm not complaining at all.

Edit: see where the stalk gets really thick on some, could I transplant and cover with soil to that point? It would do me wonders.

Day 20

All my plants have now been topped, things seem steady..

More frequent watering, more evenly dispersed and less water, they are drying out faster but I don't mind it as I'm in there often enough.

Misting 3 time a day since my fans do a good job of not having water droplets sitting on leaves for too long.

Cultivation of top soil every couple of days, started out as an idea I liked because I did not like the sight of compacted, uneven soil with yellowing perlite and such around my plants lol sounds a bit petty I know but I read into it and seemed like others found it to be beneficial, better drainage, makeing sure edges don't develop big gaps that water can escape too quickly down, disturbing would be pests, not sure but I've been doing it for those reasons as well as maintaing a little mound around the base of the stem, not too compacted but enough to be effective for support.

I'm thinking of transplant soon, after these guys recover from topping, and not sure about giving any nutrients till after this because it might be too much all at once, the new soil in the bigger pots will have nutrients so I think I could get away with waiting.

Cleaning frequency, I'm cleaning my room with good microfiber cloths and non bleach anti bacterial spray, I never spray it in the room with fans on as I have no idea what this would do if it got on my plants, hygiene is one of the easiest parts of this grow and keeping on top of that just gives me one less thing to worry about.

Worry about PH level being correct a lot as I caught a discussion on here the other and have lost it, something on what color PH drop water should be and that it wasn't completely accurate, I'm going for dirty brown which indicates 6.0 I don't mind it being yellow sometimes as I'm watering frequently and I've read that you can range the PH to help plant get more use of nutrients that it wouldn't get under a slightly different PH. I'm gonna get a pH pen soon definitely, and I'll use drops as a back up.

Things to come:

Introduction of silica/silicon

Build a SCROG, already have the necessities.

Transplant

2x new contraption ideas in the making...

Everyone looks so sad.... Then there's the leggy big bird in the corner lol..

Everything looks awesome for your first grow bud. Looks like your hard work is gonna pay off quite nicely! Also I wouldn't worry too much about those stalks they'll fatten up, these things send the growth where it's needed and they're incredibly resiliant lol.

Very happy about my night time temps upon inspection of hygrometer, no lower than 18C and a 60% humidity reading, it could be worse so pretty relieved...

Some pics of my girls in their new pots, they are even more sad looking but I was expecting that...

Day 22

3 weeks nutrition, that's what the hydroponic shop guy said was in allimix soil so that is what I went by, reading around however I found others who suggested it has only 10 to 15 days. Since transplant I had noticed the light green yellowing leaves return to green I'm confident now that they were just hungry, as a result, I watered last night with a very light nutrient mix with Biobizz Grow, I would still worry about other deficiencies so calmag with be next on my shopping list of priorities. Looking good so far, lower tops are making their way up and things are looking bushy, pretty evenly too, 6 tops each :)

I'm a little worried about some of the newer leaves that had turned light green, most have started returning but 1 plant has some new leaves on the two new main tops that have shriveled quiet abit, not overly dry but definitely crispy looking, actually look as if they might be ready to die and fall off, I will get some pictures on shortly but I just wondered if flushing would do any harm at this point, the reason being, if did over feed that first time, it could have been nitrogen toxicity, if so could still be causing issues and if left could only get worse. Its definitely not heat or cold issues, roots should be warm enough I think, I bought 20 15L pots so I doubled up each pot. Lights come on soon so I'm at least going to prepare a crap load of ph adjusted water incase later on I decide to go for it.

Day 8

Pleased to say I have progress although I did have a little hiccup. Yesterday morning I opened the dome to a obvious smell of stagnant water, the pots were not drying out and I hadn't helped either by continuing to add water. The soil inside was indeed saturated and compacted as well, although I was freaking out, I calmly started to remove the putty like mud from the bottom until I could see a tap root, it was small as I expected at this point, I started filling up replacement pots and removed as much of the old soil from the seedlings as I dared. I'm not sure if I've over reacted and got lucky, this all happened yesterday and I've seen the second set of leaves come in today. Guess the next few days will tell. No doubt they will be happier in this soil, I really had messed up with watering, I was so worried about them drying out that I nearly drowned them. Few pics of the wee cuties just after lights on...

By this time my seedlings are buried in larger pots with just the top showing. I find it helps to stop over stretching

Pleased to say that since last night there has been a huge improvement in the color of the leaves I thought were almost dead, they have also noticeably grown in size, although they are still bubbled/crispy looking, 2 plants have this going I've noticed now, this is the worst looking one...

Then theres this one...

They have actually improved that much that I couldn't tell which it was when I went in to check just there lol.

Since the transplant into 15L pots, I have only watered once with plain water and once with a very light 1ml in 10 litre with biobizz grow nutrient, trying not to over water giving them 1L each. They are drying out fast and I was on top of that, but I've prepared 20L of plain water this time, PH is around 6.5 this time since my last ones looked more around the 5.8 to 6.0.... I don't f#!@ing know I'm using drops and I hate not having a PH pen!! I could water now but I'm going to wait a few more hours maybe for all to show they want it, don't want to tease them too much really lol

Decided to take a trip to my local hydro store to see if I could swap my Biobizz Top max nutrient for some liquid silicon and a wee bottle of the Biobizz Alg-A-mic, I'll pick up topmax again when its time, and I have cash lol. The liquid silicon, according to all opinions, is a no brainer, but the Alg-A-mic I thought would make a great addition to my grow as foliage spray, looks like it works a treat when reading into other's experience. But there were also very mixed opinions on this, for one, Biobizz changed its feeding chart at some point and it now says you can't use it in Allmix soil... Opinions differed, the difference seemed to be between people in hard water areas having lockout issues and people I'm soft water areas having all the best results, I'm in soft water so that swung it for me.... Yaaaaay, I'm also learning about ppm now lol

Sup Spot, I followed some of the boys here, and I am glad I did and I hope its cool... Bulk is one on the strains I am gonna start in July I think... They look good and the boys I followed are well schooled and knowledgeable... I look forward to this one as I only follow a few buddy types and those who are likely to be most beneficial to me for my style of grow... My grow room is almost done and is as big as yours, just has two rooms naturally instead of one... Will use one for growing and one for budroom and curing area... Good luck and Green Days

After cultivating top soil I found the soil was still a little moist so I held off watering, at the moment the pots are pretty dry now but no sign of drooping. The past couple of days have seen some pretty fast growth and with the exception of my 2 slightly sick plants, vigorous looking top formation to say the least (pics to come soon for the purpose of showing before and after effects of silicon, Alg-A-Mic and soon LST) I like the way Youchoober Greenboxgrown does his LST, he was using clones mind you, he would eventually bend the entire plant over instead of only fastening down extra tops, some of my lower tops are pretty damn beefy looking already in the stem department, I see Bulk in its name for a good reason now. I'm not sure yet about which way I want to LST, looking for advice on this soon so I'll get some good pics of individual plants.
