Fanleaf's Huge 42 COB Array Build Plus Other Builds

Yeah, it's like 48.8W or so.
Alright. I guess this one is going to be my first cree. :-) glad this works out so well and i dont have go for another meanwell in that tiny tent

Or would you pick 36v chip with 1 driver for seedlings, 2 for veg maybe 3 in flower? 3 step dimming :-)

Heres some data for 1 chip, 2 chips and 3 on the DB bin 5000k veg chip in 72 volt....So this data is with the chip running at approx 50 watts through 138 watts.

Sure thing I'll Make a list. By the way though, I knew this would be capable of way more light than I need in there so I went with 90 CRI chips for the added infrared even though they don't put out quite as much light. In this case I found it worth the trade.

4X Part number (IceLED 550) Heatsinks with fans. $16.75 each from Cutter.
4X 3590 adapter plate for CXB 3590 for the heatsinks...(I had to slightly modify). Part # (
Cutter-3590Adapter plate) $4.56 ea.
2X Cree cxb3590 3000k 90CRI 36V part # CXB3590-0000-000N0UBD30G Cutter $41.87 ea
2X Cree cxb3590 5700k DB bin 36V part #CXB3590-0000-000N0BDB57E Cutter $37.28 ea
4X Ideal
50-2303CR Ideal Holder
50-2300AN Ideal Reflector adapter for Angelina WX reflectors
4X F13838_ANGELINA-XW Wide Beam 90 Degree reflectors.

Now for those last 3 items; the chip holders, adapters and reflectors I already had them on hand or I could have just bought the kits they have for the CXB3590 that have those 3 parts in a package for $9.57. The kit is part number CXB359-HCDR35G-K1 from Cutter.

For the driver.....
The driver I used is simply overkill. I only used it because I have a few extras laying around. This drivers is better suited for 6 chips. It was Meanwell HLG-320H-C1400B. It will power this unit at 50 watts per cob which is perfect but it can drive way more than 4 at 50w each so this would be a waste of money for a 4 cob situation. For a small 4 chip unit like this you should look for the Meanwell
HLG-185H-C1400B. It's $50 vs $100 for the one I used and will still provide 50 Watts each COB.

I used 1X 100k ohm linear potentiometer. This one tested at an acceptable 99.4Kohms. $2.00
Digital power display $10 online. Displays total wattage I'm using, wall voltage, amperage and total power.
Aluminum framing and 1/4" large rivets and 1/8" rivets from local hardware store. $20

All in all someone should be able to build this light start to finish for about $350. It will last forever, use less power to do the same job, run cooler, very cool and provide a real "full specrum". The power is FULLY adjustable from 0-50 watts per chip. In my 2x2 tent running them at 35-37 watts each is more then enough.

Thank you so much!

Does anyone know where is the best place to order those parts in Europe?
Looked in few, and they all about €50 per chip :/

Not really, over here they all go crazy on them. Cobs in general. If you find a good source, tell me and vice versa .

the 36V would be capable of 2100 or 2800ma, right? If yes, is there a switch i could use to make it happen like this:

One driver active, 700ma, 25W
2 drivers, 1400ma, 50W
3 drivers, 2100ma, 75W
4 drivers, 2800ma, 100W

52euro for 1x

Or i will grab this one

94W with 2 drivers if i get it to work.

27euro for 1x

Without a switch the cob side of the drivers has to be in series right?

But how can i build it with a 0-47w-94w switch for example using only 2 drivers?

I have a few 100k pots, I think these are dual pots.
1487180452514-1239874929.jpg
I was going to put 2 drivers on each pot. Not sure if just clip off 2nd set of terminals and use front set, or hook a dimmer on each side. I need get meter out to make sure resistance checks out.

The more driver's you add the less accurate/stable the dimming becomes. Don't quote me but I think after connecting 3 drivers on a single pot dimming becomes very sensitive.
After 3 or 4 you may want to look at an electronic potentiometer.
There's a wiring diagram at Meanwell. Search Meanwell electronic dimmer.

PS. If you're looking for aluminum angle. Metal Supermarkets Canada (and US) has 25 foot lengths of 1"X1"X1/8" for $25. 1x1 square tube is $35 CDN (30ft length). Delivery is $10.

That helps. Could you use your lux meter on one of your Cree for me

Cnile. Here are some numbers from an actual LUX meter from a single 3590 chip.

1400mA
6"=186,000
12"=52,500
24"=11,100
36"=6000

2100mA
6"=210,000
12"=99,000
24"=19,000
36"=8000

Hope that helps
