Exceptionally High FECO Yields

Per the hot water - I've stopped doing that - doesn't seem like it's a good idea, even if it seems like I get away with it. :cheesygrinsmiley: So now, it's warm water in the first sink.

:Namaste:

I'm with Graytail on the hot water. It seemed like a bad idea when I first read it so I never used it. I go with whatever comes out of the hose!

Don't bang the buds on the sides/bottom of the bucket and your trichomes will swish in peace.

Happy holidays to you and the rest of the Maritimer clan! :ciao:

Ahoy 420,
full updates tonight, B-61 Mega Crop run is looking great, GSC monster clone meja study is looking less than favorable at the moment. The untreated control plant has superior cola stacking and frostiness although it is close. Bud making contest continues.

Meja Study; The show will go on!
The Christmas spirit is alive and well here on 420.
With my finances in a wreck, I have been forced to conduct limited experiments and studies on the hormonal manipulation of cannabis due in part to the cost, and limited availability of seed stock.

Santa Cannabis came down my chimney (PO Box) at the direction of a friendly 420 member and left behind wonderful gifts. (Yes, we know who sent Santa here, but we can't tell.) We now have quality seeds available to conduct future studies. Without this generosity we would have been forced to mostly abandon our curiosity. No wonder our friend recently was voted 420 Member of the Month. He deserved the accolade folks.

420 has some amazing people that I am lucky to be acquainted with. :love:

Mega Crop moment; Not happy about this simple sounding idea changing. 4 grams veg, 5 grams late veg/early bloom, and 6 grams full flower. What could go wrong? Ten minutes after you open the bag of mega crop, the volume is growing so fast (due to moisture absorption) she will never be the same. Now we are relegated to guesswork when we feed because it takes a shovel full to equal 1 gram when an eighth of a teaspoon originally measured 1 gram. I don't trust my eyeballing skills so much now that I can't see worth a dang. This blows not being able to measure. I have an un-opened bag I could use for a test but what good would it prove? Lost again???

Garden Update;
This being my first garden without deploying a scrog while trusting in my ability to conduct low stress training as a means of canopy management it will come as no surprise that I am getting my butt kicked. Combine my inexperience, with the explosive growth characteristics of Farside’s faux methods and this is getting silly. My 600 is nearly raised as high as possible and the plants are strapped everywhichway and the stretch is not yet complete. I need room for the cola’s to grow a tad even as vertical growth will basically stop after stretch. I have some wiggle room in that my light is normally ran 30 inches and that is excessive, especially with a three-year-old bulb. I can run as close as 26 or 27 with no problems. But in the future, I must be more diligent in my training efforts. Quad what?

MeJA Update;
The monster clone race has gone back and forth between the treated and control plants in terms of size and number of flowers. This study may be skewed by the fact the delta specimen was treated early in life (flower day 11) and again on flower day 20 in our investigation. The timing of application being critical and yet to be elucidated clearly, but hypothesized to be best around flower day 37 for future studies. The early stimulation of signaling pathways may have undermined our cause as the plant adjusted her homeostasis early in bloom to account for our antagonization. The second and subsequent applications are not as hormonally shocking to the organism hence the subdued reactions to our sprays. I am thinking we need to hit the sweet spot of flower day 37 with a plant not previously antagonized. Anyhow the bud making contest is about even as of today.

With Santa bringing us seed stock our next test will be considering these notions.

In my studies of nutes, I've found that the moisture that the salts take in/on only changes the weight minimally. So if you want to add a little extra weight to account for the water weight, that's fine, but if you don't want to, that's also fine. If adding extra, maybe an additional 10$ for good measure which makes 6 grams into 6.6 grams or 6.5 grams to even it out, lol.

This is why I liked making concentrates, because once you put it into the water, it's not like it can get wetter, lol. But don't try this with Megacrop. That needs to remain dry until use.

I can't believe it swelled that much. I got a 2500g bag that I'm on my 3rd grow with. I open it, scoop, zip back up. Usually in a 50-60% the environment. Last I verified measurements, mine was still coming in a 1g per 1/8 tsp.

The Mega rep claims you can make a liquid concentrate from it but my attempts I ended up with a lot of sediment. I wouldn't use it. It sat on a shelf for at least 6 months and I just recently threw it out. I wasted 500g on trying over several attempts. This is also why I doubt anything the Mega Crop rep says.

Aminos are organic acids that will form into algae which will break the bonds with the elements they're chelating and the metallics will fall out from being oxidized. This why when I mix up my chelated micros, I also need to add a food preservative to prevent the algae from beginning.

Preserving Fertilizers and Additives – How to Keep them from Going Bad

Edit - I also find that not all salts liquefy equally. Potassium Sulfate in particular has a sandy base about it so when I mix it at a rate of 1 gram to 10ml of RO, I still get a nice dusting at the bottom of the jug every time. FWIW, I've never tried to boil the salts into the water and maybe that's what's needed for that one. I just shake the jugs before use to evenly distribute the contents.

my humidity is mid 50 range and now i need a half teaspoon for 2 grams. 1/4 teaspoon is 1 gram. way different from what you guys are getting. my mc is stored in a mason jar verses the original bag. how the heck do you scoop it out without wearing the stuff in the large bag it comes in.
edit; and i have crushed my balls

The common practice of those that cared enough was to bake the moisture out of their salts. I always thought that was overkill and never even tried it, but the threads/growers where I learned about mixing salts suggested to bake out the moisture. My experience is that because the needs of our cannabis plants being so broadly defined, any negligible difference one way or the other won't make much difference so long as the elemental ratios in the feed are sufficient.

I am good with it if you guys are. I am just nervous. This run is looking pretty "dialed in" for my garden and I am stoked about the prospects of a bountiful harvest. The plants are acting like a serious gardener is finally tending to their needs.

Though I'm not using actual Megacrop and just have made my own, I still feel comfortable to say that your MC taking in some added RH is still safe as is.

edit; and i have crushed my balls

Did all that expansion happen before or after crushing said balls?. I always left mine intact and have gotten over the paranoia I originally had about them.

got it :)
I did not care for the practice of crushing the balls.
The idle thoughts that can race through my mind...

Feel better about my MC already.
Like I said, I am just nervous being very new at having an awesome looking garden.

The gift of seed stock was timed perfectly. Because I was counting on some clone cuttings that were taken from garden leaders, they are failing. Had I just been taking them for "practice" they would be growing and rooting like I know what I am doing. But because I actually put them in a garden forecast they decide to slowly die. It couldn't be all the silly stuff I am doing to help the clones along, or could it. In the past I have literally just stabbed a shoot into a medium and it rooted and grew when I wasn't trying. Try and fail, or don't try and succeed. I am not a very good gardener. Yet! :(

Waterboarding began yesterday;
Barney's Farm Triple Cheese X 1
Seedsman Cheese X 2
Alaskan Purple X 2

All seeds were a very generous gift from a 420 brother!
This place we have here helps me Love again.
Thanks all
