Exceptionally High FECO Yields

Busy day here in the land of Lincoln. I have 60 grams of bees wax, about 500 ml grape seed oil infused with canaroots, an ounce of ground up (dried and cured) Northern Lights flower, a big $42 dollar jug of everclear, all sitting on the kitchen table.
Instead of getting to work I am off gallivanting around at @Preston9mm gig. Wish this darn bookmark stuff for our site worked. Find so many cool gardeners and then I go brain dead. How in the world do penny and shed keep up?

Anyhow @gr865 my brother I am practicing my med making if your around today. would like to compare notes on preparations and such. And @InTheShed I will be making your awesome salve at your 30 gram recipe although using grape oil vs. coconut.

Use the "watched threads" tab.

It will show a list of any thread you've commented in, or clicked to follow. The thread title will be highlighted if it has new content.

Everytime you find a journal you like, simply say hello and it'll land on your list.

You can also remove threads from your list if you lose interest.

I am not going to be around today.
You are using the Frozen method, just follow that.
When the alcohol in your container is boiling off don't let it get to low are you might burn the oil. Take it off the burner while there is still alcohol in the oil and pour it into a shallow container and let it finish off in the air.

I am hitting the brakes on the extraction. With gr being busy today I will ask him about this "frozen method" because I have no idea what he means. In the meantime I will put together a written plan for the extraction I intended to perform. I know there are a bunch of ways to make feco. I will post how I think it is done, ready to be corrected and or informed of better options. All your help is appreciated. I want strong pain medicine, I don't care if it knocks an elephant like @Grandpa Tokin on his butt. That is what I want. I will post my steps in a few minutes.

Full Extract Cannabis Oil (FECO) Alcohol Extraction
Ingredient’s are 28 grams of dried then cured then ground flower and 190 Everclear.

I use a glass bowel that I think is about 2 quarts size, and I put the ground flower in and sort of level it. Then I begin adding the alcohol until all the material is minimally covered. I gently agitate the mixture often for around 15 minutes trying to release all the oils from the plant material.

Next, I strain the mixture using 112 silk handkerchiefs into mason jars. I reserve that fluid and conduct a second bath in fresh alcohol and repeat the process, straining the fluid mix into the first mason jar combining the baths results.

Next, I transfer the mason jar contents to a tall Pyrex 1 cup measuring cup where I use an electric warmer and evaporate the alcohol keeping temps around 180 and occasionally stirring the ingredients. The Pyrex cup will be filled several times while evaporating the mason jar contents.

After the alcohol has been reduced, I put the Pyrex cup containing the oil in the oven at 245 for decarb. I try to go a full hour but usually watch the bubbles stop and pull it out then. After the oil has cooled enough, I suck it into syringes equipped with caps. The mess in the Pyrex cup is slowly scrapped and applied to joints.

The stuff in the syringe I call FECO.

Nothing is cold or frozen. Should it be?

I get better yields when I use frozen plant material. The "bro-science" behind it is that the tricome heads will release easier when agitated.

I freeze the buds before making bubble-hash, doing a dry ice extract, and doing alcohol extractions.

The difference is pretty mininal, short of some super frosty strains I've done.

It's really an unnecessary step though... I only do it because I store my trimmings in the freezer anyhow.

I don't, but only because I've forgotten to buy it like 100 tines now. LoL

I've just learned to live without it.

Once I got my press.... my edible intake has decreased to near none. I've really only been making the CBD stuff for my wife lately.

Upcoming harvest is gonna change that though. I've got 6 plants that I culled midway through flower and I'm seeing larf on a few plants too. I'll have plenty of "play material" to get back in the kitchen soon.

When do I add the Lecithin and how much do i use? I saw SS mentioned but have not found.

I hope you're making oil rather than salve. Salve has no THC in it, oil has nothing but THC and oil.

For QWET, lecithin comes after you mix with your carrier oil. 1Tbs/cup oil. Refrigerate overnight.

goofed bad on the ointment then, i did this also on the last batch for her using oil and she loved it.
never done quick wash extraction either

Isn't QWET what you bought the Everclear for? When I do my QWET ( :thanks: to a gift from Mr P9) I will run it per Grandpa's instructions:

My topical pain oil is buds and grapeseed/pumpkin seed oil. My salve is the rest of the plant and coconut oil. They have two completely different uses in my circle of users. And my ingestible oil is made from EVOO (extra virgin olive oil). And when I do QWET it will be used for ingestibles. It's not worth the money to use QWET for topicals when a regular infusion will do just fine.
 
Booze and bowl of smoke now in freezer. I had been thru @Grandpa Tokin method and think I leave booze in with weed longer hoping to get more out of it. I want every bit and he is after the best. I am trying to stretch the yield off an ounce I guess? When I have more available maybe just the best would work better?

I am a puss as you previously mentioned. LOL
When I can get a rig hit that does me like oil on a bone, I will switch.
I aint hitting the rig right or something.
When I time a hit on a joint right when the fire is going to hit the dab...wowsa!
Hit a big ole pile in a rig and wonder when it gets good?
That is why my press has dust on it.
I even got a nectar collector thing from my son at Christmas? WTH LOL
