Exceptionally High FECO Yields

My topical pain oil is buds and grapeseed/pumpkin seed oil.
My best next move add buds to the oil/root mix in the crock pot and make pain salve?
Don't want to waste.
If you agree how much bud for 2 cups oil?

There are a few folks I listen to, as good as I should.
There are fewer folks I listen to, studiously.
I hear you loud and clear.
Thanks bro

The weeds along the side of the garage seemed like a logical place of disposal. :)

Freeze everything, the 190, the cannabis, and all tools.
After extraction and before filtering put the solution in the freezer for 24 to 36 hours then filter. Do not shake, you will see sediment in the bottom of the bottle, stop filtering before you pour the sediment into the filter.

Just to expand on that, this is commonly known as winterization, or separating out fats/lipids/waxes from your ethanol wash. Depending on how you use your final product can help determine if you do this step... if you are making a vape or dabbable extract then winterizing is very popular... it reduces residue and creates a more stable product for storage. If made for edibles less popular because you'll hear that leaving in the fats may increase bioavailability.

Personally, I like the idea of winterizing for both consumption methods. I want to control the amount of fats in the final product so I can experiment with the differences in consistency, taste, effects, etc.

Thanks Brian,
I am going to give it a go tomorrow. I have everything in the freezer now setting up for the extraction. I want to also follow @gr865 advice about before filtering, putting the solution in the freezer for 24 hours. Just want to ask him and be sure that the weed is still in the solution while it sits in freezer.

I'm sure not, in case you don't get a response by then. I've never heard of leaving material in the alcohol when freezing post-extraction.

The cooling, as described so far, is for two separate steps... the first is for the extraction itself as the resin dissolves into the solvent. The second cooling step is for the winterizing (separating out the fats).

I'll be taking the winterizing step even further... instead of just visually identifying the fat layer when the cold solvent is poured off (which is perfectly legit to do), I'll be pouring it into a vacuum buchner filter that pulls the solvent down through 10 micron filter paper... the fats are what is left on top after the liquid drains down through. The vacuum is needed because when a filter is less than 20 microns gravity alone isn't enough "push" to get it through... imagine waiting days for it to driiiiiiiiiiiiiiip driiiiiiiiiiiiiiip! ugh

Cold is absolutely paramount if you want to remove fats... at any time if the temp goes up the fats will simply redissolve and not get trapped. That's why gr stressed to cool tools as well.

Why the buchner filter step? I have a vacuum pump anyway, because I will vacuum the remaining ethanol from my oil after all these steps are complete, ending up with zero parts per million solvent (or as close as I can get).

There are many ways to skin this cannabis cat! :)

Awesome Brian,
I am sure you are correct. I should have been learning this stuff with you instead of messing around with hormones and such. Not sure how it went so fast from me droughting a plant, to me talking with biologists about things way over my head like simulating a drought through hormonal manipulations. Anyhow, I am trying to catch up and learn about the things that will help me and those around me. I still have a hankerin for exploration, but first things first.
Happy New Year

As Brian said, you do not put the extraction with the in it. After the extraction in complete, which actually only takes pouring the 190 over the cannabis buds, stir for a minute or two, then strain. I put it back in the bottles, then to the freezer for 24 to 36 hours then filter it.

Last Sunday my GF and I were having cocktails, Cosmo's, and I ran out of vodka. I said heck let's just use some of the reclaimed 190 from my last extraction. Man, what a taste, it was so strong in cannabis flavor, could not drink it, it really tasted funky.

Wow,
Would it be legitimate for me to assume that we might have some adventurous things in common?
Remember being in upper Washington state around Whidbey Island, in the land of skunk. On a very enchanted camping trip I decided it would be too cold outside for the bong so we filled it with wine. A few hours later, chug chug chug. :bongrip:
Cannabong Wine!

Ahoy 420,
Garden update on one of the MC run plants. We put the only GSC we have under the 300 LED to flower. All plants are hard for me under this light. The plants grow different and want more food than the HID plants. This time I am noticing the red petiole syndrome with occasional leaf twisting?

I had read in I think @Skybound thread where he talked about fixing this with fish foliar, so I tried some of my tea and it helped a lot in just 12 hours. Still got a problem but less. The rest of the MC run under HID is doing me proud. Gonna be some big ladies.

Many thanks @gr865 for your help and patient guidance. I am doing the evaporation today. Back has been killing me.
How do you spell relief? CCO

Looking in the filters I see a heart forming and took a picture. Yes, I was stoned

I'm in the same boat with trying to abate a P def. Except in my case, I know it's caused from me adding too much iron sulfate to my blend, so I will likely have to deal with this for months to come unless I discard my soil which I'm not doing, lol. I linked a video to my journal maybe within the last 5 days about the difference between Neptune's Harvest and Alaska Fish Ferts, but the guy pointed out using a lot more fish than I was using, and when I contrasted that against Doc Bud's Brix spray, that also mixes to 1 ounce per quart of spray. With those 2 sources of info in agreement, who am I to disagree? I upped my sprays to 15ml/QT and if that goes well for a month or so, I'll up to the full 30ml/QT. Continued searching suggests that the spray also triggers processes that result in the roots exudating more which then stimulate the microbes which in turn feed more ions to the roots. I think the presence of P in the spray is just the happy result of needing to stabilize the proteins in the fish from fermenting any further with phosphoric acid, none the less, it's still P.

On another related note, I found that Polysorbate 20 makes a great surfactant, better than the Yucca I was using, though I discovered last night that a little goes a VERY long way. I tired mixing a 1/2ml to a QT of RO and that was WAAAAAY too foamy. I think I might mix a 1/2ml to a QT, then take a few ml's from that QT to use in other bottles of things, but you'll definitely want to add a surfactant to your foliar sprays. I assume you have polysorbate for the MeJa? IDK if it's needed for that like it is for the triacontanol.

Can't wait this these ladies are finished.
Yesterday, 1/1/2020, started a new decade and these ladies started 12/12.

I said the same thing. And he has a bug light contraption I think UV maybe lighting the garden?

What is this bug light contraption you speak of, LOL
No UV in the garden.
