DV8's Deviance

Sorry to hear about the delay on the greenhouse, DV8.
Will you have somewhere to grow your new seedlings?
Im working on plan B. I did get the greenhouse up, but had planned on the shed for tents.

Might have to muddle through until its complete, semi outdoors.

Ill ring tomorrow and see if they cant bring the date forward, was informed via email, but talking directly to the company might challenge them into action sooner.

Seed pots looked a little dry, but one of the Zkittlez looks like it might be going to go.....It would be a bit of a shock given the sluggish start they had after a soak, and the cold temps, perhaps there is still the will to live.

If she does go Ill take advantage of the fact she is a photo and veg her well past the cold until she thrives, but its a bit early to call yet.

Had to laugh.

Me to me: Think they are probably fucked

Also me to me: Fark yeah! 6/6 this season! Can sprout.

I haven't decided names and its a bit soon to say success. However if they get up Ill keep them in this thread.

Zkittlez in bigger pots, White widow in smaller.

Happy I stuck them in with their auto stepsisters, must have been just enough to get them to go.

That's a beautiful sunset. I feel super positive about your photoperiod plants. A few weeks ago I visited friends in the mountains in the middle of winter and they had seeds sprouting all over their lawn. I think these plants are tougher than given credit for. To me the biggest threat is drowning their roots. I bet you are going to be successful with the Zkittlez and White Widow :) A quick PS, the new Strain Hunters videos on Youtube show landraces grown in mountainous regions of the Eastern Cape (Pondoland), and the weed adapts in the most fascinating ways. For instance, high in the mountains they don't get much water from the water table so their roots are shallow and small. The get most of their moisture via foliar from the dew. So those aren't ideal conditions to max out the bud size but it proves that they grow em in the most extreme conditions.... give em names, give em names!

Thanks. Was sunrise this morning. For now get good views in both directions.

Interesting. I take it you mean in general not canna seeds in this example?

And I completely agree. They are super tough plants, highly resilient and forgiving.

I like to choose my words carefully given its a grow forum, as a gardener though, there are many things that get blown out of proportion.

Often if we get out of the way they will do just fine. Its something Tra and I have spoken about from time to time, and often why we reach similar conclusions about growing.

I cant speak for her, but simplicity is key, and beyond that is spent focused on making a grow the best it can be.

At seedling or in general?
I bet you are going to be successful with the Zkittlez and White Widow :)
Definitely hopeful.

Its a perfect aside. They are great adapters to their environment. A big part of that is in the reproduction, the genetic variations they can throw out with the sheer volumes of seeds they produce means as a species they have a real edge in this challenge.

Haha, If they keep up should be day 1 tomorrow, I have some ideas.

I do mean canna in this example do you mean in the lawn? yes, canna :hippy:
At seedling or in general?
I mean in general. They seem to tolerate drought more readily than over watering. Ok pests can also be a major threat but at least pests you can mostly get rid of.

Ok so the photo girls have all come to greet the world successfully in spite of me haha.

Day 1 (+13 hours dlh)

Introducing three new girls.

Top left.
Zkittlez

Shirley.
Scottish lass Shirley Manson sat out front of her band Garbage, and delivered hits from sweet lover all the way through to despondent. The " G" album was multi coloured, stretching the emotional experience.

Top Right
Zkittlez

Annie.
Annie Lennox was part of the Eurythmics, and another strong Scot, with a fantastic range and artistic quality.

Her solo album Diva was a powerful woman with powerful expression. She commanded the audiences attention, and was bold in her emotional range. From firey, to soothing, staunch, and sexy.

Bottom.
White Widow

Tori.
Tori Amos was a dynamo, and her song Professional Widow was a stand out on her album Boys for Pele. It then was sampled to become a more notorious hit on the dance remix of the same name. White Widow is named as a tribute to both songs, wholly dissimilar, but both amazing.

Day 2 (+12 dlh)
Annie, Shirley, Tori. (L to R)

Annie is wayyyyy too leggy. Its crazy. Obviously reaching for the premium light.

Apart from leggy they look a bit meh, so nothing to do but wait and see if they try harder tomorrow. Annie will def need a repot, will wait and watch the other 2.

Shirley is the pick so far looking the strongest.

Bugger me. I nearly forgot the best news for the day.

After making a big song and dance over the shed construction, they assure me a contractor is coming to make a start tomorrow.

I have no idea how long they will be, but certainly by early next week I should have the initial construction complete, then get power connected.

Exciting times.

O. M. G.

ITS BETTER THAN I HAD IMAGINED!

Nice sight to come home to, fkn stoked.

I dont even care if the football team makes the Grand Final anymore.

What a beast.

God damn, if I cant get a proper grow op using that I best quit and find additional hobbies.

Not only do I see freedom, space, potential, but the weekend work and sacrifices made to have it. I nearly cried in happiness. Dont tell the daughter, she was most upset I had dry eyes at her wedding. Haha.

Thanks T.

Should be less than a week and some magic can happen. Cant wait to get some Barneys genetics set in a proper controlled environment, I have loved watching You and Stinker making the girls shine.

Cannot wait for my turn.
The shed looks awesome, DV. Plenty of room there for your deviance.
Thanks mate, I sure hope so, its been a long while since I had that much room to work in.

Apart from plants I love doing projects. I was getting ok at airbrushing too and will have a chance to practice again.

Bunch of things on my mind become possible. Off topic thread will be busy.

Day 2 (+12 dlh)

Shirley, Tori, Annie.
IMG_20220916_180642.jpg

Annie was planted deeper back in the same size pot. Shirley will probably need the same treatment. They still want to get leggy but too much closer wont be good for them. Really need a fan.

In one way its not so bad if I decide to LST them.

Ill still probably just make clones from them.

Change my mind more times than my underwear if Im honest.

Got a couple grow buddies who would take a couple of advanced plants if it got a bit much.

Really keen to just focus on a couple of key plants now the shed is in the mix, these 3 really were plan B.

I wasnt going to wait till mid November for planting. For now just watch how they turn out and decide when its clear what I should do.

Better something than nothing.

Congrats on the new space man. It's going to be fun filling that up ;)

Wow, I can relate to the emotion of it all. That shed is going to be amazing. It already is. The plants look great too.
