Thanks PC!Wow Dutch Looking Great !
Thanks Higher and they are called Matrix circulation collars!Hey buddy such a beautiful grow you have!
Quick question what are those plastic drop rings called again?
Why thank you kindly Mushie! Those plants are looking really good there your doing a wonderful job
Anything I can do to help BaronHow slick is that? I love it!!
I am growing vicariously thru you !
Keen eye Backlip! I do indeed top usually a 1/4” above the 4th node to help prevent splitting in the initial training period but @Heavenly Hybrid is right! This split was actually done a week before flower when I accidentally dropped my CO2 bottle on that side of the plant lol! Whoops but she didn’t even skip a beat! I generally repair any splits or damage with masking tape and remove after a few weeks.I see in a lot of your plants, you top at that certain spot, leaving just a small lil stub above the top internode. It looked like the one plant you didn’t top at that specific mark, but just below... the stem snapped. That’s unfortunate!!
plants are looking great though man! Very healthy!
She was indeed and a great idea at that!I thought the same thing when I saw Dutch's oopsie! That's the @Heavenly Hybrid stump! She was the first person I heard recommend that to help prevent stem-splits.
Cheers Jody! These plants are really resilient and will do just about anything to keep chugging along!Awesome looking plants. I had a plant snap like that recently but it seems to be doing just fine.
Your very correct HH and thanks! My back wasn’t feeling it this morning but WOW did the ladies ever respond well to the defoliation and LOLLIPOPing! I’ve got a video coming up below to show how well they are doing this morning at lights on and watering! The split as you had mentioned was just before flower so good catch on that. She didn’t skip a beat when it happened I just taped her up and left her to her vices!Everything is looking stellar as usual. You’re such an amazing gardener Dutch! Dang 4.5 hours, but it was worth it, ahh I can breathe easier just looking at that lollipop job. So much more open, I think it’s one of my favorite parts of the grow, post lollipop.
Splits happen to the best of us (aka Dutch), I’d say the stump helps more at the beginning stages of training, when they are particularly fragile at the nodes. That particular split looks like it might’ve happened closer to bloom? The arms get harder and woodier (is that a word?) and when you pull them down, they say uh-uh and split. Not sure a bigger stump would’ve made a difference at that point? No worse for the wear, she’ll be great. Wow, what a ramble! Lol, I’m not even medicated yet! Beautiful work Dutch!!
Thanks Bode, it’s really solid and won’t be splitting anymore! It’s got a rigid bark building up on the inside of the knuckle and it’s pretty impressive I must say haha! I’ll get some closeups of it for tomorrow’s update.Highya Dutchie,
On the split stalk, I'd lash it up with some string to close it up a little, and prevent anymore splitting. It's not difficult, and it works great. Cheers
These plants like it rough and usually will respond well to being bent, squeezed, pinched and tied down! This is the second plant I’ve had snap like this. The first was in a scrog(will never scrog again after my last grow) and this one was my gelato.og quadline. I used foam plant wire or whatever it’s called to and twisted it around the split to pull it together and then covered it in tape and it didn’t even seem to slow down.
Thanks Amy and that’s a great idea! Breathable with durability is a winning factor! I use green painters masking tape which is delicate on the stem and removes easily!Looking spec’y Dutch - and tidy now too!
Yes it is!
I like to use athletes strapping tape (the rigid stuff) to repair stems - it’s made for skin so i figure it’s fairly gentle, and it breaths a bit . It’s also tall string so you can kinda use it to pull a junction back together, if needed
