Got re-caught up again - things are looking fantastic (as usual!) I’m shopping around for some improved lighting, so I’m keeping eyes on that budget led light you have going (500w Samsung I think?) Keep up the great work Dutch and the clone experiment sounds super interesting!!
:popcorn::popcorn:

This is a phenomenal journal! Reads well and lots to learn from, thanks man! I'm looking forward to seeing that 4x4 tent flower!
Hey Deecee! Glad you could join along for the journey ahead. I appreciate the kind words and I’m glad your able to take something away from this journal so far. If you have any questions about anything along the way just ask!

Thanks HH and yes my light is the 500W from @Budget LED
So far I’m absolutely loving it and so are my plants! I haven’t had growth like this ever and the stalk thickness and strength along side the stacking and growth I’ve had I would definitely recommend them! Powerful Samsung diodes with a name brand driver really makes a difference! Hope you and the family are well

Update
Dec.5

Good day everyone! Hope all is well in your part of the world. Got an update today for the IHG ladies as well as the 2x2 tent! So without delay let’s get to this.

First up are the InHouseGenetics ladies who are doing great and growing strong. They got a light defoliation today to remove a few big lower fan leaves and a few of the inner ones blocking growth tips. I was also able to continue their outwards training which is going well.
They have some thick stalks and are growing very strong branches and a few times they have pulled the ties right out of the soil. Thanks to this awesome 120W kit from @Budget LED

The group before training and defoliation:

Platinum Punch - Before + After

The group after training and defoliation:

Then we move over to the 2x2 where there is the 2x CBD Blue Sharks as well as the 2x Maple Cookies fems that I got from my pack of 6. I did a big leaf strip on Sunday which looked like this:

After only a few days they have filled in a lot to the point where I feel ready to flip! So tomorrow marks Day-1 of 12/12 for the 2x2! Looking forward to making some small frosty treats with these ladies

Big defoliation for the 4x4 this weekend and a massive photo drop coming along with it! Can’t wait to show you all the explosive growth this second week of flower and the difference of the before and after defoliation party!

Stay Medicated

Highya Dutchie,

I'm pleased to look at your quad-lining abilities. So precise, they look cared for! Great job. Cheers

As I scroll through the pics everything seems to be nice and green. What's up with that?
It is very verdant indeed haha! Looking great and growing strong is what the goal is

Flower/Flip Day - 14

What’s going on everyone! What a busy day I’ve had let me tell you. Almost 4.5hrs of defoliation work went into the flower tent today and more still to come next weekend! What a huge difference a good LOLLIPOPing makes in the tent. I hit them all hard and removed everything below the frost level of the trellis. They have just begun to reach the second level of trellis so I’ll be installing that next weekend after the next round of defoliation.
Now for some before pictures!!

After the defoliation work today they look so much better and you can really see the structures I’ve built!

Then as I’m sure you’ve noticed the ton of budlets forming everywhere in the tent! Here’s a few other photos as well.

Quick visit to the growbox and these IHG ladies loved their defoliation and training session yesterday!

I’ll be posting a video tomorrow of the 4x4 for a fun update with lots of pictures as well of the response to the defoliation today!

I hope you all have a safe and fantastic Friday!

How slick is that? I love it!!
I am growing vicariously thru you !
:adore:

I see in a lot of your plants, you top at that certain spot, leaving just a small lil stub above the top internode. It looked like the one plant you didn’t top at that specific mark, but just below... the stem snapped. That’s unfortunate!! :(

plants are looking great though man! Very healthy!:high-five:

Everything is looking stellar as usual. You’re such an amazing gardener Dutch! Dang 4.5 hours, but it was worth it, ahh I can breathe easier just looking at that lollipop job. So much more open, I think it’s one of my favorite parts of the grow, post lollipop.

Splits happen to the best of us (aka Dutch), I’d say the stump helps more at the beginning stages of training, when they are particularly fragile at the nodes. That particular split looks like it might’ve happened closer to bloom? The arms get harder and woodier (is that a word?) and when you pull them down, they say uh-uh and split. Not sure a bigger stump would’ve made a difference at that point? No worse for the wear, she’ll be great. Wow, what a ramble! Lol, I’m not even medicated yet! :laughtwo: Beautiful work Dutch!!

Highya Dutchie,

On the split stalk, I'd lash it up with some string to close it up a little, and prevent anymore splitting. It's not difficult, and it works great. Cheers

This is the second plant I’ve had snap like this. The first was in a scrog(will never scrog again after my last grow) and this one was my gelato.og quadline. I used foam plant wire or whatever it’s called to and twisted it around the split to pull it together and then covered it in tape and it didn’t even seem to slow down.

Looking spec’y Dutch - and tidy now too! :yummy:

is that a word?
Yes it is!

I like to use athletes strapping tape (the rigid stuff) to repair stems - it’s made for skin so i figure it’s fairly gentle, and it breaths a bit :). It’s also tall string so you can kinda use it to pull a junction back together, if needed ;)
