DrZiggy's Low And Slow Drying: Maximizing Your Harvest

Oh TS..... You are one of the treasures of this site. Thank you for that. :hugs:

Well, ma'am, I do have my good days. Just wish there were more of them. I'm not walking too good AtM (and if you think I had trouble with stairs the day I met you, you should see me trying to get up and down mine today), and it's causing my attitude to suffer a little, but my head... Aside from the headache, which is a long-term companion, my head is... No demons today, I guess. Today is a good day. Might actually do something in the grow today besides harvest a double-handful of leaves for the day's... smoking.

I personally like the smell of sauerkraut carmelizing in a pan.

I did manage to eat some kraut and wieners (surely there's a more palatable name for the dish than that?) once when I was eight years old and staying at a friend's house, but that was due to being raised to be polite more than hunger. Mom used to LOVE sourkraut before her fever went to like 105.1 for several days in 1977 and she lost her senses of taste and smell, so I was "treated" to the scent of boiling kraut fairly regularly. Love it or hate it, I figure that odor will cover any other less than a week-old corpse in August. And I wouldn't bet the farm on the corpse winning that one, either ;) .

It's one of our traditional Christmas holiday dishes.

Ah, a family thing. We just didn't have many of those in our life when I was growing up.

Uh... Anyway, to me sauerkraut wasn't a dish for a special occasion, just something that Mom ate when she was up to eating. So it was just another food item in my mind. But I was just thinking, there are some things that get cooked in kitchens that'll cover most odors, probably even cannabis.

Stop playing for the opposing team in this fight of ours!
Cannabis vs. Marijuana: WHAT IT MEANS TO THE INDUSTRY

I have always agreed on this small but exceedingly huge subject. People who support change for the right reasons should really think about the words they use when they speak about this amazing plant![/QUOTE]

Words are very important in this and any conversation. The name chosen to denegrate this fine plant was also chosen for racist reasons. I find the more important cannabis became to the health and wellbeing of myself and my family the more I was conscious of calling it cannabis, and the topic medicinal cannabis. I'm not really fond of the MMJ designation. Must make some government workers employed in message control smile every time we demonstrate the need to hang onto the name.

Call it what it is. Cannabis. Be clear about it. It's time we started controlling the message.

Whoops! I'll step off the soapbox now. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

I've told everyone that listens,to change the stigma with the plant you need to use the right words so people stop associating using the plant with old stereotypes. Cannabis instead of Marijuana, euphoria instead of high or stoned things like that.

.it's quite alright, I think we all understand. That's why we're here and why we continue to make changes where we can when we can!

Looking back, I seldom used the word marijuana. It was usually weed, smoke, stash.

I started using the words cannabis or medicine nearly exclusively about six years ago, especially when talking to non consumers. It's a little thing that takes a lot of the negativity out of a conversation.

I always called it "stuff." :laughtwo: I refused to call it marijuana for many years leading up to my finding this site, for no real reason other than the name made me uncomfortable. Now I know the reason for that discomfort. When Cajun lit that fire under my manic ass I made the commitment right there to be more careful about my language.

I agree Canyon, it takes a lot of the negativity out of the conversation. And New B, I've found that replacing the word "high" with the word "euphoria" changed the flavor of the message so dramatically that it was shocking. Euphoria sounds like something you want to be seeking, not something forbidden.

Language is so nuanced. Obviously I love to play with words. Lol! It's up to us to help change perceptions. Propaganda works. It's most frustrating in my world to come up against resistant seniors, who have so much to gain in quality of life with the inclusion of a daily regimen of cannabinoids.

I always called it "stuff."

Around here, it's... Get there. Have you been there lately? Are ya stopping by, there? Are you there? Hey, whatcha got there, lol? Gee, I sure wish I was there. Finally (and inspired by):

"A Passage To Bangkok"

Our first stop is in Bogota
To check Colombian fields
The natives smile and pass along
A sample of their yield
Sweet Jamaican pipe dreams
Golden Acapulco nights
Then Morocco, and the East
Fly by morning light

[Chorus:]
We're on the train to Bangkok
Aboard the Thailand Express
We'll hit the stops along the way
We only stop for the best

Wreathed in smoke in Lebanon
We burn the midnight oil
The fragrance of Afghanistan
Rewards a long day's toil
Pulling into Katmandu
Smoke rings fill the air
Perfumed by a Nepal night
The Express gets you there

[Chorus]

...from the Rush album, 2112, way back in 1976.

Might have been easier when everyone smoked (cigarettes). But we're dying off and not being replaced in the same numbers. I sometimes think that half the resistance from those who've never consumed cannabis is because most people think of it being smoked. The spread of edibles... Seems like a lot of the stories in national media are negative. Looks like something a kid might eat, they say. Well... yeah, why make something look/smell like dogsh!t :rolleyes3 ? Life isn't a Cheech & Chong movie. Besides, the LD50 on cannabis is surely high enough that a kid would have to fill his stomach to end up doing more than fall asleep after a few fits of giggling and, perhaps, chasing the cannabis edible with everything else that happens to be edible. Explaining to people that they can make their own cannabis butter and use it just like err... square butter. That doesn't seem to have gotten any negative slant in the news. Oh, well, at least some people have given up on calling cannabis a "gateway drug." That always sent me over the edge, too. They prescribe cannabis to recovering drug addicts in the Netherlands. As far as that goes, I might not have quit drinking (et cetera :;): ) without a little cannabis to get me through the occasional... rough patch when doing so.

Gosh TS, I just really like hanging around you. :hugs:

Yeah.... the gateway drug thing will set me off most times. I can be relentless in my quest to change perceptions. Tv sells more advertising in a fear-based society. They'll tell you it's basic economics. I suppose it is, but the power could just as easily be used to broadcast truth and by doing so change people's lives for the better.

I suspect that a broader understanding of the ECS might go a long way to furthering the cause. When you understand the biology behind the medicinal use it becomes easier to accept the idea of cannabis as medicine. Then you can begin to choose more appropriate methods of consumption. I've grown fond of the fresh harvest infused oil and capsules. I believe a regular regimen of capsules will make a world of difference in so many areas. I'm seeing it played out in my family with great consistency.

Easy to grow, easy to process, naturally healing. What's not to love about cannabis? :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

I see tons of posts about the low and slow method. Can someone direct me to instructions on the "low and slow" method?

Thanks!

If you read this thread through from the beginning you will find the low and slow method is on this thread :thumb:

Yeah, looks like it was explained in the first several posts. Additionally, the screen shot in post one is of post #1315 of "DrZiggy's 2nd Journal - ACE Seeds - Doc Buds High Brix Kit - LEDs" journal thread. So you could probably find lots of related information in that thread, methinks.

Let me ask you all this. If you could maintain a consistent humidity of 60~63% in your mini fridge would you consider storing your medicine in the fridge long term vs jars(boveda packs) or other methods?
Like a humidor or a cannador in this case..

STORAGE OF CANNABIS
The most factors that effect Cannabis, Tobacco, and Hops are: "AIR, SUNLIGHT, TEMPERATURE".

Tobacco is stored in breathable glass jars or cases within a humidor. Temperature AND Humidity at 70/70.
Cigars maintain proper RH and Temp regardless if door is opened for short periods.

Hops are stored in vacuumed sealed bags. Hops are quick dehydrated to 0% RH and stored at 0deg Celsius.

Cannabis IMO and years of trial and error. Cannabis should be stored like Tobacco. Only Temperature and Humidity are 62/62.

If you can control above factors. YES I would use a refrigerator.

So I found a good deal!
