DrZiggy's 2nd Journal - ACE Seeds - High Brix - LEDs

I think its Govs thread that has the hanger bars :thumb:

I was thinking the same thing Duggan. How can I grow these things big enough to yield what I need since I can only grow 3 flowering plants at a time right now and yet keep them from out growing the tent in height. I'm thinking a big 3 plant scrog might do best for me, not sure how much veg time maybe a month would work good for me but its a total guess. I am going to try and run just one pure sativa to get an idea on my next round so if it doesn't yield much I still have another plant or two that I know will.

How much of a difference do you think it would be if instead of going from 11/13 right away to 3 weeks of 18/6 first and then flipping them? Im figuring the flip would happen around the same time but maybe get better veg growth rate with the extra light. I also want to top mine at least once so it would give a chance to do it before the hormones switch for sure.

Hey Smokey...good to see you around! Your challenge with your space ,yield number of plants, timing issues, etc. Three plants is perfect for that tent...you can grow them longer, bigger ,and get your yield. It's gonna take you at least 3 extra weeks of veg. to get em nice and trained with a "bush" appearance. You will need bigger pots to take advantage of doing it this way.I would go with 3 ,20 gal.pots. I know...that may seem too big but it's not.The plants just love all the root space. You wind up with outdoor sized plants...indoors.Last crop of my two MK Ultras...over 25 z's.No CO2...Just Doc's gear, lots of light longer veg.and ,you got it...big pots.
When the ones in the tent are about a month away from chop....that's when you start three more babies under a little flour. somewhere else for a month. Works for me just great...always have plenty of produce for myself and a few close friends.Anyhow....sorry Ziggs...didn't mean too...:Namaste::high-five:

You know...I'm liking this tiered thing and was thinking about it all day...haha. IDK if it'd work but, you could you take a party cup and cut it in half. Then slip that into a second cup (with drain holes) that acts like a sleeve, fill it with soil+seed. When it's time to upcan just slip off the second cup and the rootball is exposed (in the half-cup) and ready to be scored. You could do the same with the next can larger before they go to the cloth pot.

Also you would reuse the half pots and sleeve pots and not have to throw any away?

You sir, are a genius! I can't believe none of us thought of that before. Reps for that brilliance!

Zig, foam cups for the planting, red cups for the sieves? What do you think? Or just go with the sturdier red party cups? I just bought the foam cups, but I haven't opened them yet. I'm thinking red cups. Less expensive and sturdier.

agreed! :)
the red cups will work great if prior cut with no roots or soil in them. I'm going to try this idea using both foam and red cups..but not mix them..they will fit better if sleeve and cup are made from same cups, imo

I'll be watching.

Serious milk! 1/4 cup dose I would think. I'm going to make some in the morning before I head out, if I can find milk. Aww, maybe Thursday, while butter is brewing. Oops! Brownies are done.

To gain extra height I eliminated the hanger that comes with the light and just went to 4 ratchet strap hangers and connected them directly to the eyelets on the light then used D-rings at the top of the tent to connect the straps to. I can raise them to within about 6-8" from the top of the tent. It also allows you to change the angle of the light with 4 straps. Just another option. :bong:

i connect the eyelet from the light straight to the horizontal pipe at the top of the tent

I'm diggin' that approach...heh, diggin :laughtwo:

Hey Sheep, Ya eh brotha....i just aint got time to fuck around too much, and this way suits my needs perfectly.Cheers.If i had one of those tents i would prolly do exactly what i'm doing now Two or three big plants....three crops a yr.,w/one month overlap.Grow each crop 5 months from seed to harvest. The one month overlap gives the babies a chance to get a little size to them before they replace the harvested ones.Have a great night Sheep....

Sounds like a good plan duggan. That was actually my original goal. I had it all planned out, timetables and lighting schedules for every contingency. Ziggy distracted me and now I'm fascinated with his method of perpetual gardening and abandoning all those plans for unfamiliar waters. Who'd have ever thought? :laughtwo::green_heart:

It's 11:14 and I've been in and out of our little village all evening and have yet to take a single hit. That is so wrong on so many levels. Let me make that right. ;)

I'm liking the concept of smaller. Like 3 diff strains in one 20-25gal pot on a lazy-susan (tiered of course =D). A smallish tent with 1 LED and 4in exhaust. High Brix, top once, FIM once, LST, flip - let her go.

BAM! :cheesygrinsmiley:
