Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Great job! We High Brixer's are able to grow 100% pesticide free. This means our products are healthy and safe, which is huge. It's hard to find weed not sprayed with something nasty. The fact that our stuff is pure and clean is really cool.

RE:Leaf Wash....I stop using it before the Cat Drench. Ideally, wash down the plants in veg, upon transplanting and perhaps one more time in bloom, prior to a lot of trichome formation. The plants love it.

Yes sir, I have no intention of using it again unless I see pests. I love the fact this is all organic and grows such awesome produce. I already won't smoke anyone else's because of the bud washing I'm already spoiled... and will be doubly so after I try my very first HB buds!

That's why I like growing my own lol.. Other people I know think its not worth the trouble growing when you can buy a pound for 1500-2000$... but that's still pretty pricey compared to growing lol.. I prefer to invest little by little into my grow area so I can harvest more. plus I know my stuff wasn't sprayed with a damn thing and I know what it was grown in/under lol. Hopefully by next grow I'll be at a point where I'm pulling a pound or more. It's mainly just not enough room hopefully I'll be able to move soon.

I use plastic 1 gallon to veg and sometimes put the indicas into 3 gallon fabric to get them big enough to yield well. I don't rip them out of the fabric at transplant but just set them into the 10 or 15 gallon fabric pot and let the roots grow right through the 3 gallon. All I've used is fabric for flower but maybe I'll try the plastic just to see.

So Doc, you say don't veg in anything bigger than a 1 gallon or we can't get the root ball big enough to flower indoors. Man, some of the indica strains just won't yield when I do that. When I leave them in a 1 gallon and try to get them big, it just doesn't work for me....not sure why. They get all unhappy at some point being in the 1 gallon too long. By vegging them in 3's for a few months I get 3-4 oz from them as opposed to 1-2. Maybe I'm doing something wrong...don't know. I'll give plastic a shot and see.

Man, I was just thinking about this yesterday! I read that Doc flips as soon as he transplants and thought there was no way I could even try that. I veg them out in 1 gallon round pots and when I transplant them into 7 gallon pots they still have some time to veg. This can make space tight in the veg tent, so I might try using larger pots. I can't seem to find 1.5 gallon pots, but I think I have some two gallon pots kicking around somewhere, going to see if I can find them.

Hm... I veg until very(!!!) well rooted in one gallon pots >> straight into 7 gallon smartpots >> 12/12 flip on day of transplant, as do my friends..
And we regularly see plants exceeding 16 oz/each with no negative impact to root growth or health. (We grow clones. If you run straight from seed YRMV. And, I wouldn't suggest transplant > flip same day when you're force-flowering an immature seed or you'll be fucking yourself right proper.)
Cannabis continues to "veg" for a couple of weeks after light change to 12/12, plants have plenty of time to settle into their new pots. Mature clones cut from healthy mothers should run:
14 days +/- for cutting to root.
7 days in a 16 oz Solo cup.
14 days in a 1 gallon pot under T5s.
(Last 3 of the above 14 days) under low-wattage (600w) HPS HIDs to prevent initial shock when going from veg (T5s) to flower (kw HPS HID)
Transplant to 7 gallon pots > .
.Summary: Usually just under 35 days from unrooted cutting to +/- 18" clone in flower.

Ok, ☕

I'd be remiss (or even rude!) not to leave a few pics.
General Hydroponics Flora Series, modified Lucas Formula.

Wedding Cake . Day 58. This one is good for an easy 1/2 lb. And it's fucking beautiful .

Chemdog D, (the clone) also day 58. In 7 gallon smartpots. Flowered day of transplant, as are all pictured. This one will finish up @ 10-11 ounces.

Just remember I recommended 1 gallon.....2 gallons is a very, very large rootball. My plants would be way too big to fit under the veg lighting.

The problem with the one gallon pots is that once they get rootbound they droop no matter what I do. I don't know what else to do to please them except to upcan.

Just posted this in another thread but maybe it could be of use here

A quick fix for anyone wanting to switch Mid-stream
Wrap the Fabric pots with Saran Wrap

Nice! I wouldn't have thought of that. I know Doc's partial to plastic pots, but I promise--stuff comes out juuuuust fine in grow bags if that's whatcha got. :)

EDIT: Just now seeing all these posts over in Sue's/Gazoos/Duggan's journals. Looks like we got something to figure out! I'm sure we'll hear from Doc soon.

beautiful!, :high-five: Stoney.

I just ordered few 10 gal smart pots. I gotta try with kit. I'm just curious to see how they'll turn out

I did 10 gal smart pots a run ago and like them but gonna try 10 gal plastics with these next girls with all the talk about roots drying out too quickly in smart pots

I believe as long as your veg goes good in 1 gals, then up to a fabric pot. You'll be fine, seen too many people have great results. I do think the fabric and airpots do dry out a little differently than plastic

I have always used smart pots so this will be my first time flowering in something other than smart pots and if I don't like it I can always go back! There's always more plants to grow lol

I have to soak mine every single day the week prior to Transplanting. But no drooping.

are you in fabric or plastic? forgive me if I've already seen pics of your grow and don't remember....i see a lot of pictures.

Can you take a picture of your roots for me? Right before you normally Transplant.

I assume you're dunking, soaking and draining them?

Are the pots cold perhaps?

Here's what my stuff looks like today.....3rd run soil. Following my own directions.

Hey Doc, with my grow here I've followed all the directions with one slight error, Brix foliar has never been on a good schedule due to when I'm home and such and the distance to where I am and getting to the GR. I'm wondering is that is a good reason for the lack of shiny leaves( yes, I'm sure will be the answer) but also the lack in trichomes at today's end of wk9? They just don't seem very.... umm spectacular. The received a GE yesterday and a SD before with 2 waterings in between. Brix has been within 7-10 days tho maybe 11 at most ever.

I don't have answers but I would also expect much better trichome production at 9 weeks
