Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Doc is that Chilean N legit for high brix? How much sodium would screw up the works?

(Hey Tav hows surf conditions black Wednesday?)

It's legit for High Brix, depending on the soil and crop. A small amount of it is in the product Transplant. My point in bringing this up is that here is a naturally occuring substance that has arbitrary political restrictions on it with regard to "organic" certification.

Chilean Nitrate is an organic-approved substance. It's restricted to 20% of the total nitrogen use, but it still can be used in organics. The unique thing about Chilean nitrate is that it is the only organic nitrate source available. And so if there's a need for nitrates which promote growth, this is a great product to put in it.

It works for corn say, and would be used in conjunction with 5-1-1 fish. 5-1-1 fish would give a long term release of nitrogen, but the Chilean nitrate would be quick early growth just to get it started really fast.

This also works really good on various kinds of greens, say if you're growing leafy greens. The only thing is you have to make sure that there's not an excessive amount of sodium already in the soil, because this does have a higher sodium content, somewhere around 19% or 20% sodium.

This product works particularly well for crops that have a higher sodium requirement, things like asparagus and celery really need a lot of organic sodium. So this would be a great product to use for those crops even if they're not organic. It's quite water soluble and there's a little bit of boron added and some other trace minerals in with this product. So it does provide a little bit of boron.

Overall an excellent product due to the fact that the nitrates are in there. This product is an oxidizer, meaning it will supply oxygen.

The rating on it is a hazardous rating for shipping just because of the oxidizer effect. But it is an OMRI listed product only up to 20% of the total nitrogen requirement.

Sodium nitrate is the standard from which all the salt index is computed. Sodium nitrate is at 100 on the salt index, it's a fairly salty material in comparison to a lot of other fertilizers, even other fertilizers aren't as high. Some fertilizers are even higher than this on the salt index, but this is the 100 mark.

Sodium nitrate when it's mixed in with other liquids is basically a neutral on a pH, it really doesn't push the solution one way or another. It works really good to dissolve some with liquid fish and then spray that out on the soil. It's an ideal corn program.

Sodium nitrate can be purchased in bulk tote bags. It can also be purchased in 50-lb. bags stacked up on a pallet. The tote bags are actually metric ton tote bags. So it would be 2,204 lbs. of net product on a pallet. You can fit 20 metric ton bags in a dry van and maybe we can fit 21 on a flat bed. The pallets are stacked up and they can take an equivalent amount of weight on them as well. It doesn't come in bulk hopper bottom.

At this point Chilean nitrate 16-0-0 is kind of a pricey product. It's quite expensive this year. It's derived from a company in Chile called SQM and they're the only supplier of this product in the world.

An interesting tidbit of history is that years ago this product was going into Germany and from that they were making dynamite and bombs. America put a blockade on that back then. Needless to say German scientists figured out how to make dynamite another way. Just history FYI.

Chilean nitrate comes from a deposit of dried bird guano in the desert.

You and me....we could be bro's. We had mango, coconut and papaya growing wild on our property when I was growing up haole in Kahala. I miss it....vanilla ice cream with mango.....oh man.

You've definitely got it figured out with the lunch/surf/smoke combo!

You guys have got to be joking! Im sitting here in 14 inches of new frozen wasteland and not wasted, yet :) 12F w/o windchill...
Drooling over your beauty contest winners of frosty nugs, your delish delectables, and now you mention Hawaii and its paradisical siren callings? Well, BBL.... Got to go shovel...
All kidding aside...Thank you all for caring and sharing your experiences and wealth of knowledge on many levels.... And for paying it forward. :)

Gotcha.... i was picking up what you were putting down Doc...no question bullshit reigns in the "organic" or "allowable" 'official' categories

Hey bro!

I don't put instructions in the kit for a reason. Hopefully that will change in the near future. Instructions are to be found in my signature here in the forum. I'd post a link here.................but it's already posted down there.

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

what up DOC. my high brix is well underway and my plants look amazing for sure!! i just wanted to see what you thought about my conversion of the nutes.

right now based on container size i use 500ml of water to feed one plant. i add .25ml tea bubble it for 15-20min then add the energy or Transplant at about 1.85ml and bubble another 5 min.

so when i feed 4 plants i do 2000ml h2o 1ml tea and 3.5ml energy or tplant....

does this seem like a proper ratio??

I'm coming over to your journal right now!

If you're trying to feed 4 plants, I'd use about 1/4 ounce of drench each time, spread evenly to all four plants. For the sake of ease, make that 8ml. Just use 1.25 on the Tea. It's a little heavier, but it won't hurt the plants and I think you'll have better results for most strains.

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Uh oh....this GSC I just harvested is possibly too strong to enjoy. I just 3 hitted a small nug that was not quite dry and I think my IQ went down 30 points at least. I better smoke more and get back later.......

After 6-8 more good bong hits I feel enlightened, which probably means I'm really, really high, possibly stoned....I can't really tell.

I added 1/4 cup High P bat guano and 1/2 cup Root Zone to the bottom half of each of those pots. That along with some very strong cat drenches and 1/4 dose Transplant every watering kept the soil energy way up high which is what needs to be done to these salt loving strains in order to get the coveted flavor everyone expects.

This stuff tastes sweet, very OG like, with a mint overtone. Crazy strong. I think I get it finally.....I just haven't done a good job on this strain till recently. I'm looking forward to how the organic bone meal (guaranteed non-gmo feed) goes on the Tahoe OG, another salt lover. These are really fun to grow.

Pics tomorrow, probably. Everything's cool, but I'm behind on manicuring so I need space in the drying room and I have plants that need harvested....glad I finished with an Energy flush, they're mostly green and happy.

---------------------------------------

So I was having a "deep thought" while meditating under the stars a few minutes ago, pondering certain qualities about weed and how it effects my health and my life, then projecting that onto a large segment of society----assuming Cannabis has a similar or complimentary effect on everyone, which may not be true---and wondering.

What does all this Cannabis do to me? Does it make me slow? Yes...I'm probably half a step slower mentally....the flipside is that I'm much more patient.

Is it healthy in a physical sense? Absolutely. I get fantastic sleep, don't get sick, have no headaches, or any other health problem of any kind. My lung function seems untouched but I do have a bit of irritation in the upper tract.....but overall function is excellent in the medical sense.

What about motivation? Here's where I might have stumbled onto something. Perhaps this is nothing more than evidence that the GSC is strong, but I don't think Cannabis decreases or weakens motivation at all.

No, being properly supplemented with a panoply of cannabinols and cannabinoids causes a person to find contentment in almost any position in life, except perhaps in positions of no weed, no food and no sex, in which case most pot smokers I know show tremendous motivation to deal with all 3...at which time they become content again.

It doesn't mean you're not motivated to succeed, it merely means you don't sell your soul and miss out on the present, in order reap a benefit in the future. Success can come without the addictive behaviors of the corporate world, and Cannabis teaches us this.

Pot smokers figure out how to prosper in honest ways, mostly. It seems many of us work with our hands in one way or another, or do something that makes people happy in some way.

It seems we'd rather live simpler, less fancy lives, but with less pretension, more peace, good food and good living, and that we'd rather live like this now than pursue the almighty dollar and run like hamsters on a wheel generating taxable financial transactions etc.

I think this very common sensical characteristic of pot smokers is what makes us so damn dangerous to the elite power structure. We just want to be left alone. We don't want to hurt anyone....we want to BBQ. We want to work at something we love, and we want to make people happy. It seems we all have that in common......especially when something we grow can make someone happy.

If people are content living simple, clean, honest lives, the chances of war, civil unrest and violence goes way down. I love the increasing focus on homesteading and self reliance.....that's the most American thing you can do. For some reason, all of this becomes important to us once we begin to regularly smoke or otherwise ingest Cannabis.

Can you imagine a large part of the population regularly smoking great weed? I mean like 70% or more of the people smoked 4 times a week. I think the culture would simplify in a big way, and we'd see a much nicer society all around.

I think that scares the hell out of the power elite! Let's keep this up. This could very well lead to a peaceful revolution....the only kind worth having.
