Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

My RH is at 20 percent and there's really nothing I can do to raise it besides fill my humidifier 3x a day lol.

My plants still look good but I can tell they need more humidity :(

Hey Boogs...ya mon , ya gotta get that RH up some how. Ya might wanna try this . Mist them every day with pure , clean water, all over , really good..it helps a little, try it. 20 is too low , even if it was 40 , that would be a lot better. Mine is a bit low too ...it's running at 45-50. Cheers Boogs!

I don't really know what I can do to raise the rH to 45-50, though. Any recommendations guys? I can't seem to find strong humidifiers. This is only a problem in the winter anyways...

the inside of nappies/ diapers put them in the sink , fill with water to they hold no more , cut open , take out the gel ,put the gel in tubs in your grow space , have a fan blow across them , top up with water when needed :)

If it's fresh, then the problem is with the environment or water. It happens. Low temps give a certain set of problems, high temps another, ditto rH.

I really like these computerish Greenhouse Controllers. Mine's a....dang, I forgot! I totally know this and I just can't remember the damn name! I just smoked half a J of Skywalker. Well, Titan makes one and I'm sure there's a few others. Mine works just fine, so I haven't looked for a new one in a long time.

Plugged into is:

AC (set on full cool with autorestart)
Heater
Humidifier
Co2
I set a De-humidifier to 50 or 60, depending and let it run stand alone. I can almost water the entire crop with nothing but AC runoff.

It's got a microprocessor on board, so you set the parameters you desire and it does the rest. It's hard to miss, provided your BTU's are adequate along with the humidity stuff.
Really good info Doc, thank you .

Re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Just took some brix readings from our Blue dream and I am quite shocked. I followed Graytail's tutorial so I know I did it correctly. I pulled a leaf that is about mid-level, not dead, and not damaged. The first reading kinda made me think I did something wrong.

Almost 22? Yeah I had to have done something wrong. Checked calibration again and we are good there. So I grabbed another leaf, this time from a different branch. Same height on the plant and same basic location. This one is closer to what I was expecting.

17 or so. Not too shabby. So my question now is, it just got a CAT drench 48 hours ago so would this effect it? About to spray brix now so it wasn't enriched by foliars. Oh, and it is 25 days in flower today.

17 is super good. 22....I dream about that and I've never gotten close.

Suggestion: take an entire top with uppermost fan leaf AND petiole each time you test. I do it when I prune. thoroughy pulverize the sample, using mortar and pestle, the back of a spoon in a bowl...whatever you can do to make sure the cell wall is totally ruptured.

Make sure the refractometer is at room temp for 20 minutes or so...calibrate with RO.

Your plants are simply gorgeous, so I fully and completely believe the 17 reading......but if you're getting 22, then you need to start teaching us!

Meh, unless I can do the testing, I don't believe it

Totally agreed! Especially in this industry--everyone seems to think they can grow best. That's why we're here, growing high brix, no? :) This is where it's at!

That said, I'm sold he's getting those numbers, or damn close based what I know. As for why, who knows! I'd have to think that the magic is somewhere between that native (amended) soil, and something about the sun itself that has to be pushing those numbers up.

Happy Friday gang, looking forward to a relaxing evening later tonight! Back to work.

This is my Critical at 6 weeks flowering. I'm concerned about yellow leaves this early and also green leaves getting duller. They were shiny at beginning of flower.
She had cat drenches in week 4. She had plain water, transplant drench and GE drench since then, both foliars weekly. Temps 65-75/80. Humidity has been problem dropping as low as 35% during day, 55% at night. I have mites with this grow, using weekly spray of neem oil extract to keep them under control. I've seen no live ones the past week and very few for several weeks prior.
My plan is to top dress with EWC and water with epsom salts. Want to know what you all think first. Thanks.
