Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Hey people...

I have a couple unhappy girls in veg. Both plants look exactly the same.

So here's what I've done.

Day 0 - Transplanted rooted cuttings to 1 gallon pot. Drench with Transplant, Tea
Day 1 - Destress
Day 5 - Brix + WA (had a little left over after spraying mom)
Day 9 - Destress
Day 12 - Brix
Day 14 - Straight Water Drench
Day 19 - Destress
Day 24 - Growth Energy, 1/4 Transplant, Tea
Day 24 - Destress
Day 24 - Topped and a few lower branches pruned.

I was thinking the Fungus Gnats were worse than I thought, munching on roots. Still not sure.

Using the same 1st run soil I've always used.

Environment is 77F (+/- 1.5F) and 55% RH at lights on and 69F and 55%RH at lights off. Temps and RH are very consistent. I'm able to set them where I want them and keep them there.

So, in conclusion, I must be the problem...

Rescue Drench at next watering?

Hey Doc,

My local shop doesn't have the Promix HP, but they do have the Sunshine advanced mix #4, is that ok to use? is there an up or downside to using it?

Sunshine #4, as long as it isn't the Coco thingie (I don't know what "advanced" mix means) is fine. Peat moss....no coco.

Sunshine uses dolomite----which sucks. Promix uses Limestone and dolomite, which sucks less.

So, as long as it's the PeatMoss formula, you'll be fine.

I have a feeling that people who are using the kit and are having issues with it, aren't telling the whole story, then when their grow goes downhill, they ask for advice. I've been using this for almost 4 years and have never had a grow go bad. Every plant/strain ive grown in our soil has been superb, from my first white widow to the ones I have going now. They just got transplanted about two hours ago and by tomorrow theyll have fully recovered and will explode with new growth. I dont understand sometimes

@masonman-
Looks like too much 'N' and if it wasn't a kit grow, I'd say too little 'K'.
Maybe lighten up on the GE?
I'd be interested to hear from the experts too.

Well, I've already admitted to it being user error so I don't know how much more story I can tell.

Maybe I got high and put too much of something in... I don't know.

I was just wondering if Rescue Drench next watering was in order.

Personally, id start over fresh. Give it a good drink of just water, no destress or brix for about a week and let her get good and dry. Once you see some new growth, give her a big transplant drink and drench the shit out of her, wait a day or 2 and spray with brix. Ive done this before with plants that looked slightly less than stellar and they kicked right back into healthy growth mode. Others might have different ideas but thats what id do bro. You're going 50% when you use that destress right? .5 mils per ounce of water? Did I see you're already using wayahead? I've only used that in and about midbloom...never in veg. Oh and I only use destress after a heavy round of SCing. Most of the time I don't use it at all thru a whole grow.

I cant say this enough...You gotta follow the directions for a couple of grows before playing with the ingredients. I have no idea what's in the kit nor do I really care, thats what Doc is for. So I cant tell you or diagnose what's wrong, all I can do is say whats worked for me in the past bro. I did 3 grows before I started playing and getting supreme results...just my $.02 :)

Yep. Reminds me of what happened last time. Rescue drench for sure.

Are you damaging the roots at transplant perhaps?

Also, it's too young for Brix/WA. Save that for bloom.

Morning Mason....was just looking at your feeding schedule for Doc's gear. Why do you give 1/4 Transplant when ya give a GE Drench. it should be done with GE and Tea only. Give the 1/4 Transplant (not always either) with your "in between" Drenches Drinks only If you give all that DeStress i would also give it a lil weaker than full strength , just cuz they're getting a lot of it, maybe too much. Don't always feel they need something...sometimes it's best to be patient and not throw a lot of stuff at her. just my 2 mason , cheers bud!:Namaste:

While I add the 1/4 trans to every drench......I agree that it looks overfed/too salty.

I suspect that's from the sprays being done too frequently. I also suspect some root damage at time of transplant, but that's easy to rule in/out.

I'm going through the same thing I spayed them a little to much with destress, they looked pretty bad. Since then I've stopped the destress and just let them be like duggs said. A week later and there's lots of new growth and they look a lot better.

I suppose it's possible. Although I tend to treat them with kid's gloves.

Also, it's too young for Brix/WA. Save that for bloom.
OK, will not do that again.

Hey Duggan... It's in the directions.

Transplant Should be used during the bloom phase alternating with Growth Energy. It is used at 1/2 to 2 oz per 6 plants (30 square feet.) Some growers have found that essential oil and resin production can be increased by using 1/4 oz of Transplant evenly distributed to every plant with each and every watering....whether with a drench or with just plain water. Please note, this does not mean 1/4 TO EVERY PLANT, but 1/4 oz divided equally to all plants.

I used to spray Destrees half strength (.25 ML / ounce), don't now why I stopped. I will go back to doing that though.

I stopped spraying the flowering girl with Destrees after all her training was done. She looks beautiful. I need to learn to back off when I'm in veg. I didn't know Destress could be this harmful.

Thanks for reminding me to pay attention to what I'm doing.

I probably over fed her at transplant when I dunked her. Maybe I mixed Transplant at full strength instead of 1/4 strength. I can't remember. It was after initial transplant that she started to show signs of being unhealthy. I have a dry erase board I log all sprays and feedings, But, I don't log the strength. I'll start doing that. Make it easy to see where I screwed up.
Do they have a 12 step program for DeStress?

Thank you all for your help.

When pot goes dry, maybe 4-5 days, I'll give her a Rescue Drench.
No more DeStress or Brix until after they return to normal.
