Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Thanks,

So if I flip to 12/12 from seed or after a couple of sets of leaves develop, should I still start them in 1 gallon pots to develop a rootball? or start in the larger pots? I definitely don't have 15 foot of overhead space, more like 7 1/2 to 8 ft. I was thinking I would let maybe three sets of leaves develop, then possibly top them. but still wonder which size pot to start them in.

you can start from seed(12/12, 11/13, 10/14) in a smaller pot and transplant as needed. I found pistils started showing at around 3-4 weeks with a light schedule of 11/13 from seed.

Shipping update:

I apologize for the delays! I"m getting certain things out, while others must wait. This is the first time I've had trouble getting supplies in a long, long time. Thank you all for your patience.

Here's some Lemon Paki, Punta Rojo, Skywalker OG and True OG to look at.....

Aight Doc, I read a quote of yours recently about topping. Idea was to top once 3-5 branches have 3-5 bladed leaves each under the top. That is going to be my plan for this run. I was going to do a bunch of LST but topping like that just about gets bottom branches up to canopy height in one swift blow. At least thats the idea, eh? Last time I did a standard "top" which was ok but I had no planning after, I just topped and let it be. Wasn't bad but my lower branches never caught up top the canopy top. Live and learn and then do better!!

Gaffle...how's all brotha! If ya want a "bush" ya have to train her...if ya just top her and then just let her go , the canopy will ALWAYS be uneven. the trick when topping is to tie down any leaders that wanna run away from the rest. This causes all those side branches to compete for all the growth hormones and really start to motor. If your interested in getting a nice even "bush' type canopy then you have to train her that way. Cheers bud. if ya have ANY more Q's. around this , please , just ask OK!:Namaste::high-five:

Heads up.....do NOT top unless you have 5 or more bladed leaves. Do not top with 3 blades and especially do not top with an even number of blades.

Yeah Dugs, I just had different plan and there would have been so much line around my plant would have looked like marionette puppet. I like the idea of toping a plant that is a bit more mature so the lower branches are much more developed. If I have to tie down to get the bush canopy I will, but I want to make everything easy peasy.

Now I don't know how old this quote of yours was Doc, but it makes it sound like you are waiting for the plant to be much more mature before you top, yeah?

So technically I am waiting for 5 nodes with well developed branches before I top. This also means that I would be cutting off the less mature 3 or 4 nodes that are now above node 5. Cut off that top, take some clones, and if I need to, train the lower branches that are now at canopy height. Regardless, this would be for a much more mature plant with more 5 bladed leaves.

I'm not so sure that's what he meant. When the seedling sprouts and begins to grow, it'll start with single leaf set, then 3 leaf sets, then 5 leaf sets. You don't want to top her until you have "true" 5 leaf sets. For seedlings I top above the 2nd set of 5 leaf sets.

Here's a pic from back in March. She was just topped and is now getting a dunk.

Yep. And the tissue above the "pinch" had 5 or more bladed leaves and more importantly, you left 5 bladed leaves BELOW THE "pinch."

That's the main thing I'm trying to say. If you aren't leaving behind mature tissue----by which I mean 5 or more bladed leaves and no even numbered leaves----you'll have a clean growth pattern. Otherwise, buds will have weird structure, poor yield, etc.

That's exactly how I top. :thumb: Then you can just manually soften and bend any leaders down to let the laggards catch up. Whichever top is highest will grow fastest, always. :slide:

Thanks Doc for getting my order out. Cooking some second run soil as I type, got some clones from my outdoor that I like some really nice plants this year in the kit outdoor- moonshine ghost train and a GSC OG. Both are in big pots and loving the sun
