Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Heard dealing wit high brix it puts a brix wall around the plant! Lol! But seriously is there a certain brix point that you know bugs are not gonna be a issue?
Scientifically it's impossible to say. Around 16-17 Brix my plants deterred any pests you could name... except corn borers, these don't care much about Brix levels.

I have yet to see a single bug on any of my plants...its been almost 4 years ive been using the kit :)

Hey Mason....good stuff bud....so, you don't have root aphids. Good to know, ya feel better,..i would! your girls are looking great BTW ....no worries. Keep following Doc's directions and you'll be golden. Remember to let them fully ripen to get the best out of them. Great job so far Mason...cheers to ya bud they really do look great!:Namaste::thumb:

Yeah, screw RAs. While I was researching, I read horror stories of how hard they can be to get rid of. That's why I started to panic. I live next door to a cow pasture. Sometimes I actually get cows in my yard. There are bugs everywhere. Trying to keep them out of the house is a challenge.

The breeder says Jock Horror is a 9-11 week strain. I let her go 10 weeks from flip last time . There wasn't much new pistil growth and she slowed down on the water. But, she wasn't the healthiest girl either.

Every grow I want to try something different. So, this time I'm gonna let her go at least 12 weeks. I also switched from 11/13 to 12/12. I feel I should have yielded more last time, but I really needed to free up the cabinet for the veg plant that was ready to flower.

See, I'm vegging two clones in a 2X2 foot cabinet. One is for me, and the other is for a friend so we can both be close to perpetual. This time he flipped a week before me, and I'm gonna harvest later than him, so I'll be able to free up space in the veg cabinet and buy me more time to flower longer.

I don't want to keep doing the same thing over and over. I don't feel I'll learn anything doing that.

I will finally be spending some time reading this thread and some of your other threads soon. This much information was a little intimidating as a rookie but now I am excited to dive in and get past the basics. You think a lot like I do when it comes to theories and "educated experiments" so it will make this a lot of fun to read and absorb. I will say thanks though for some of the gems I have picked up here from you helping on other people's threads. I will be applying your bud washing technique to my first harvest this week. Glad I can say that I will never have a grow where the bud isn't properly washed!
Good to see you round these parts Asesnio! Looking forward to your AI harvest. I'll be doing the last of my Aurora Indica this week hopefully in the kit.

The breeders that post flowering times probably don't grow in HB. From what I've and many others have experienced, those averages tend to go longer in HB soil. :)
There are ways to shorten the times especially with adjusting of the dark schedule. At flip; from seed; Etc.
Lose control especially of the environment, you end up chasing the grow...ever correcting and adjusting for the symptoms of a stressed plant. Obtain and maintain control, you direct the grow. You control it instead of it controlling you. :thumb:
Great produce awaits!!
- results may vary. :)

Right on guys, thanks. I wasnt on here when Doc and others started using it so I have no real idea

Hey bud, this whole blood meal thing. I can see it being a benefit for a big hungry plant , in a smaller than needed pot, just to help feed it , basically. None of my "Kit " grown plants have ever needed more N . The EWC , GE and Transplant always have what is needed. I know one thing..if i was to give these Lilly's any of it their leaves would turn under from it. Right now a few are , ever so slightly cuz of this , very rich 3rd. run soil! More N is not what they need....space is what they need....FFS's.:)
have a great night Tard ...Doc, ...and gang!:circle-of-love:

I finally got home after touring Cali for almost 3 weeks, and I need to say that visiting Doc's and SloTown's operation was a real high point. It was a great example of family-run grow, where quality is always much more important than quantity with few carefully selected strains that produce vibrant and memorable flavors, and a lot of resin.

No rows of hydro buckets or people in masks and plastic uniforms as it happens in commercial grows, which is pretty funny for me, but plants couldn't be stronger

Doc gave us (me, my wife, and my two friends) a quick tour of veg, flowering, and drying room in a snap, and as we were in fact in a hurry, we got out in no time with THE BUDS on our hands, that left long-lasting impression.

Both Grape Ape and Lemon Paki were as smooth and juicy as it gets with powerful punch and great high, and if all of you get similar produce working with the kit, then you are a bunch of happy folks

I heard I wasn't a first member to see Doc at work... and probably I won't be the last one either :surf: :thanks:
Conradino, you're wetting my appetite! Heading to CA in two weeks. Can't wait to see Doc's setup and sample his wares. A shout out to Wavy Gravy, "man, I must be [will be soon] in heaven"!:high-five:

Im only gonna try it on one plant bro, the snake venom

Doc, a couple of questions for you. Just finished harvesting my 6th HB grow. Except for one Blue Dream with some slight yellowing of the upper fan leaves just prior to harvest, every plants' leaves were nice and green and pliable (not crispy) right up to the end. Everything looks good, smells wonderful and buds are full of crystals. I'm running two 3x3' trays under two DormGrow 450s and two DormGrow RED UFOs during flower. 8 plants, 7 gal pots. All 8 were vegged 5 or 6 wks.

Two things I noticed with this grow.

1) when I broke down the pots to recycle dirt and roots, I noticed that though there were roots circling the bottom, they were "thin" as compared to the root bound mass I found when I up canned from 1 gal pots. This grow I incorporated the "double-strength Drench" during veg. that you now recommend. I let them get good and dry as you preach and gave them a couple cups of h20 when the top soil was dry. In flower, I watered 1/3 on top and 2/3 in the tray. Relative to the root mass left over from the 1gal pot, there were basically no roots in the 7gal pots at harvest. Why not? With previous grows, I often had to water every other day or so in flower. This grow, I could go 5-7 days between watering. This makes sense as fewer roots drink less water.

2) The yield so far is averaging about 1 3/4 oz per plant, which is slightly above average for me. I have two Afghanis still drying and I anticipate they will be close to 2oz per plant.

My questions are, what am I not doing that is resulting in fewer roots during flowering? If I understand you correctly, there is a direct correlation to mucho roots to mucho yield. This could explain my 'average' yield, yes? Quality before quantity for sure, but believe I can do better than I have.

Any advice will be appreciated! :Namaste:

Did I fall asleep and miss something again? I haven't heard of this yet. Or are you talking about dunking the pot in a container with double strength drench.
