Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Anyone know of a DBHBB outdoor grow being journaled? I'd love to follow along. There are high brix grows out there, but I'm looking for Doc's kit/Ag Labs grows.

Could someone refresh me with the washing method? I know I read it once but I have no idea where in the thread it is.

There are variations but I use 1/2 cup each of baking soda and lemon juice in a 5 gal bucket. I have a 2nd bucket with fresh water only. Immediately after harvest I dip the buds and swish lightly in the first bucket and then repeat to rinse in the second. Hang to drip dry for an hour, or so, then dry as usual.

First bucket room temp with lemon juice and baking soda, second bucket as hot as it can get coming from the tap, third as cold as you can get.

I don't do hot and cold. Room temp only.
I'm worried about hot melting trichomes and cold making them brittle so they break off (like when making bubble). I want all the trich's right where they were when I started - just cleaner.

same same. I've washed 3 harvests and done them all differently, but I'm at the point where I wash them as little as I can now, so 2 buckets, room temp, with only small amounts of baking soda and lemon juice in the first, clean RO in the 2nd, and give them a 10 second swish in each and hang to dry. I want to try to preserve some of the more-volatile, water-soluble terpenes too.

I will dispute the lukewarm and especially hot water

I think it makes the pores on the foliage to stay open and allow lemon and baking soda to be absorbed a bit.

then into the cold tap water which makes them close and trap some of the lemon and b/s.

My partner and I noticed this on the last two grows and questioned unexplained runny noses for several months.
I noticed a unexplained taste and he didn't.(not bad, just strange)
He is also a cigar smoker and maybe that is why he didn't notice it

After the last unwashed harvest, neither of has a runny nose any more.
However I notice just a bit harsher smoke, again my partner doesn't.

The last few batches were my own amendments to the Kit, so I am in no way pointing to any shortcomings of the Kit it self. Just passing on info to others using the Kit and/or not and washing.

Next grow will at least be one cold water plain wash, or a mix of half lukewarm lemon/bs and half plain water to see if there is a difference.

All I did last summer to my outdoor bud was one tap water wash and it was all great.

There is still no one turning me on to anything better. :tokin:

HH, yes brotha, i've had this talk a yr. or so ago too. Whenever we handle our produce it should be cold...when the resin heats up...even a little it's a whole different animal. Perfect example would be when i make bubblehash....never, and i mean never introduce warm water to the resin, if ya ever do , forget it it's now ...totally unmanageable as the heat melts the gland heads and ya wind up with a big friggen , sticky mess. When i wash the bags out after each scraping, always use cold water to clean and freshen up the bag for the next run.If i used warm or hot for this, the resin, would and does melt right into the bags pores and it's almost impossible to get clean with water, and if ya start using iso on the bags , they soon deteriorate. People washing their produce using Doc's washing method should ALWAYS use cold water and not keep the colas and or big buds in the water too long. Just my 2 on this one. Cheers HH and Gang!

I use room temp water. 3 buckets. Lemon/soda in the first, straight RO in the other two.

As of right now I lift my leaves and spray the underneath with my foilar sprays, yet it still gets everywhere. Should I try to keep flower sites dry during spray time? I'm not 2 weeks into flower so I'm not worried about it now, just curious on protocol later in flower.

I have 3 shots left on the Hasselblad. Getting primed for MJ photography.

I use a Solo sprayer, with the end pointed upwards at maybe 70 degrees. I try to get the underside of the leaves, but I don't worry one little bit if the flowers get wet, or the tops of the leaves. It's all good. But the best place is the underside of the leaves.

No mold.

No mites anymore either...

I'll be updating the two demo journals with these pics and different comments, etc.

Here's the BOG Sour Grape after being topped and numerous clones taken. These tops were in the shade till now. Notice the super thick stem!

Random pics. Oh, the mites seem to be under control in the flower room and they are dead in the veg room. After careful consideration, I decided to spray down every plant and surface in the veg room with Shuttle O, a powerful miticide that is safe to use on vegetables, within certain guidelines. It's one of the newer miticides and doesn't harm beneficials, etc. I hated having to use it, but these damn CAnnabis Cup mites were tougher than anything I've seen in my garden before.

A plethora of variety. The thick stem IS interesting. The GA is still mesmerizing, but what are these? The first one is a beauty...and those in the second pic look...Jamaican. lol

The first pic is a single Lemon Paki, under the Advanced LED's. I staked it to position it, not hold it up. Those branches are strong and the others don't have any, as they don't need to be bent or leaned at all.

The second pic is Colombian Red, under the LED's.

Doc, I know you've said that the Lemon Paki came to you as a clone. Could you elaborate more on its origins? It's parentage? My searches for lemon paki never turn up anything of substance. Thx.

As far as I know, it's one of the parent strains for the classic OG Kush. It's a Pakistani strain. The person who gave me the clone said, "This is sacred."

I don't give it out. Very few people have it.
