Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

As of right now I lift my leaves and spray the underneath with my foilar sprays, yet it still gets everywhere. Should I try to keep flower sites dry during spray time? I'm not 2 weeks into flower so I'm not worried about it now, just curious on protocol later in flower.

I have 3 shots left on the Hasselblad. Getting primed for MJ photography.

I spray and I dont worry if the flowers get sprayed; hence another reason to wash your produce. :Thumb:

CAT Drench Help Please

So I am right at the point where I need to do my first cat drench, and am a little unsure of the process. Also, my plants are in 10 gallon pots, so I'm not actually drenching, but rather watering from the top and in the saucer about 50/50. For a typical GE of trans-water drench, I use two gallons per plants. As far as the strength of the particular drench produce (GE, etc.) I double the specified dose, reasoning if the amount called for is applied to 6 7-gallon pots, then I should double it for my 8 10-gallon pots since there is roughly double the amount of soil.

Will this same process work for the CAT drench? Mix 2 oz. of the CAT drench into 16 gallons of water, then apply 2 gallons to each plant? Just want to make sure before I get started.

Thanks!

Yep! That's gonna work just fine.

Morning Doc....another bunch of tasty pics...i have to comment on something....i've noticed with these present grows you have going on , your yields are going UP , arn't they. This crop under both , the Gav's and the Advanced look to be a lot heavier than i've seen from your GR. Am i right or do they just look like it? Cheers and have a great Saturday Doc....and Gang!

Yep. Yield is up and the only difference is the lights.

Why don't you give it out Doc? Were you told not to?

I was told, with firm eye-contact, firm grip on both shoulders: "This is a sacred strain. Keep it well."

So, I treat it as such. There's really nothing like it. Between SloTown and me, we've got 4 cup winners growing at any given time, and I can say without hesitation that Lemon Paki is better than all of them. Everyone who tries it agrees.

I don't want it grown in hydro, I don't want it sprayed with crap, moldy, fried by nutes.....it's not right.

So 3 people have it for now.

That's how I feel about my Twister. Only I and a friend have it. Everyone and their grandma has offered something in trade but no thanks. We have it and it is special. Looks like my twister sex reversal is working so I will be able to self it and cross it with all the other great strains I have. I feel it is truly special. Before I die I will give it to one other person. But the new seeds I get will make many people happy.

I was wandering through strain genetics the other day and I ran across a legendary progenitor strain made from Afghan and Lemon Thai, and I thought about your Lemon Paki. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I wouldn't be surprised if that's what it is - the basic genetics for many of the best crosses containing Afghan/Thai. :thumb:

Care to share your source?

I'd be glad to if I could remember. Got that CRS thing goin' on in what's left of my aging brain. Too many years of memories. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I was rummaging through seeedfinder.com, looking at early legendary strains and the crosses that came from them. Somewhere along the line I ran across a testimonial from an early grower who was talking about the first "Afghan" and Thai crosses that were then crossed with Colombian and Mexican sativas, etc. There was one particular pheno that was heads above anything else and they treasured it and crossed it with everything. It was a lemony Thai/Afghan, so ... sounded familiar. :cheesygrinsmiley:

That sounds interesting. I can't say for sure what it is, only that it's still by far the best thing I've ever grown and pretty much everyone agrees when they try it.

Ok guys, I have managed to get my temps down to 80-81 (from 86-88)and humidity up to 50-55% (from 25-35%). I did it by making a DIY swamp cooler outa a 5 gal bucket with lid, fan, evap. Cooler filter and a small water pump with tubing. Anyway my question is, if I replaced my 250watt HPS with and led panel to bring the temps down without the cooler, which brand would you most recommend? And what wattage? I know a lot of you guys are using LEDs and have probably used a lot of brands. I am of course looking for a panel that will give me the same or better results. Thank you for any input, I really appreciate your expertise.

All the LED's I've used are linked to in my signature. Any of them will work very, very well.

They key to keeping your temperatures down is to try and get equivalent PAR (or more) from less wattage. All light sources are relatively inefficient. When you add 300 watts of ANY brand of ANY light, you are basically adding a 300W heater to your grow space.

Thanks for the info! I actually took Docs advice, I checked out what brands he's used and decided I would order a 150W LED. Says it only uses 85 watts and replaces a 250watt HPS. What do you think! Did I make a good decision?
Do you think this will produce less heat than my 250w HPS?

:thumb:

85W vs. 250W? It better be a lot cooler unless you had a cool tube and fan on your HPS.
