Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Alright gentlemen, I got my first Cat Drench done on the 7th. I'm having to water every three to four days. Two questions, is it too soon to do the second Cat? Also, looking at the pic below, is it too late to do a second or am I still in the window of opportunity?

Way too late imo

No you're fine, go ahead with the second Cat. We're altering soil electro-chemistry here, flushing minerals out of the cation sites, making them available to the plant. And the leaves look great! You have some tacoing there but no reason not to do both cats.

You just want to leave enough time before finish to get a couple Energy feeds into the schedule - the calcium sweetens the taste.

Hey guys! Hoping you can help me out a little bit with my grow, which is in week three of vegging. Plants have been looking good, but looked in the tent this morning and two of the three strains are drooping which has me a bit concerned. I did just add more LEDs on Monday so maybe it's some stress from the additional lighting? I went from 350 watts to about 800 watts, leaving the fixtures about 24 inches above the plants. The strange thing is, it is only affecting two of the strains. Here are some pictures:

The ones on the right and in back, my CBD Critical Cure and Darkstar strains are the ones with the droop. The Blue Dream strain looks fine.

Any thoughts? I've raised the lights about 4", but wonder what else I should do. All have been watered two days ago. The plants are just sprouting the 5th set of true leaves. Is it too early to apply the destress foliar?

Thanks for the help!

Slowtoke, They may be hungry...I'd give a 1/2 strength DeStress either before lights on or off :)
Next watering after they dry out and theyre ready, you may want to start GE/Tea feeding them.
Your environment is good? watering/dry cycles? temps? ground is insulated from heat sinking? That duct, is it vented into or out of the tent?
looking good.

They look pretty good....just trying to get the roots hooked up.

What are your low temps? Humidity?

Transplant will help.

Yep. I'd say Transplant first. Get the roots hooked up before putting the GE in. Personal preference.

Hi Ziggy! The environment is pretty good. Grow room is on second floor over heated space. Temps vary from low 80s during the day to low 70s at night. RH between 50% - 60% for the most part with the occasional spike higher after lights off if I don't remember to turn down the humidifier early enough. The temps may have been higher in the veg tent during the lights off cycle because I had the exhaust fan connected to the same timer as the lights. Yesterday I connected the fan to a separate outlet when I realized the tent wasn't getting nearly as cool as the rest of the grow room after the lights turned off. I don't know... if the tent only got down to mid-70s at night could that be a problem?

The duct you're seeing is a passive air intake. I have two of those on either side of the tent mounted low, with a 400 CFM exhaust fan ducted out at the top of the tent. Watering it good. there has only been one cycle with an initial watering about 12 days ago when the seedlings looked strong enough for a good watering. Then again 2 days ago after the plants were quite dry. Both were plain water.

See my response to Ziggy above on the temps. A couple days ago I ordered another temp/humidity monitor that will tell me the high and low for temps and RH. I saw the one SweetSue has in her tent and thought that would be a good thing to have. It seems I was right.

Since I just watered, should I wait until dry for a transplant drench? That will be a week or so away.

Thanks, Doc!

Yep. That's the plan. You don't need a rescue drench. A normal Transplant drench should do the trick.

Hey guys, looking for a little advice. Yesterday morning the girls were droopy from being thirsty, so I gave them a nice 1/4 Trans drink. Thought they would perk back up overnight, that was not the case. Here are pics from today. I am thinking they could use a Trans Drench. What's the opinions?

I'd say they are overwatered. Let them dry out completely and then a regular Transplant drench.

Thanks Graytail! There should be plenty of time. I think I'm safe because my clone that I finished stayed under 12/12 for over 90 days without ever getting milky or amber. Not sure if it's how this strain behaves under LED, HB or what but I think I'll adopt Doc's schedule of shorting the light period by 15 minutes every week to try to force a finish in decent time.

What about the time period between Cats? I seem to recall somewhere in the Doc Bud Bible that there may be a situation where a straight water watering may be necessary between CDs if the time period is too short between the two?

Four days is enough. If you had to water ever other day I would do a plain watering in between :MoreNutes:

Meh. Yours doesn't look delicate. :cheesygrinsmiley: 3 days between was it? That's quick, but meh. The purpose is to flush the rootball with ions to pop the minerals off the cation sites in the soil. When they're dry, feed 'em another Cat.

It still had some moisture at the bottom of the pot so I let it stretch to a fourth day and depending on what I find at lights on tonight, I may let it go one more day.

It seems to drink a lot, especially considering that the humidity in the room is staying around 45%. I assumed it was due to the age of the plant and perhaps I should have moved up to 20-25 gallons of soil for a plant this size.

Bump your humidity up to 50% and it will drink even more due to increased metabolism.
