Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Not really running a journal atm but it seems like a good spot to interject a little update.

Finally got some nice DBHB leaves to properly add back to a bin of soil, and well whadya know....

MKenyon, I feel ya on how much to prune! Doc's advices have helped me a bunch, as well as just experience hacking away at difference strains in different levels of jungle. It is different for me every time! Some of what I judge to leave on lower branches is branch thickness and light penetration. I leave a little more on that Doc sometimes but his rules of thumb work very well. (3-5 nodes)

This Pure Power Plant is on its first week of flower and just had all her public hairs brazillianed, ready to run to the finish line!

Your soil is definitely alive!

Hey Doc... could you PM me please? I'd love to buy a kit and use it in my "almost" completed new grow room. Thank you for all your hard work. I've been following this thread for over a year now and have learned so much. Some of your techniques have helped me finish a hydro and an outdoor soil grow in that time. Now I'm ready for Hi Brix :thanks:

I know stomata are usually open during the day, when is everyone doing their foliars? How long before lights off or after lights on?

I do mine at lights on / early morning.

You don't have any issues with burnt spots on leaves?

Very minor. Most of my "kit" grow was outdoors. None of the burn happened while under lights. The burn outside was not worth worrying about. As long as it is cool, I think you can use the folliars anytime. I don't like added moisture for extended periods of time. That's why I did mine in the morning.

In my short experience.......burnt leaves not done by the light in high brix is due to to heavy of brix spray......and I noticed that spots like tranquil green had on one of my clones.....I beilve was due to serverly root bound plants.....this has been my experience.....I just sprayed brix this morning and went 2mls to 3oz of water.....down from 3mls of brix......seemed to be fine today....another practice i believe gov pointed out was to shake the plant genlty after a brix spray to get all the excess off........:passitleft:

The lab is now recommending spraying twice as often with 50% strength for delicate plants.

I am VERY hesitant to offer this advice, because of the increased moisture this creates and the risk for PM in uncontrolled environments.

It's good to hear this, Doc. :cheesygrinsmiley: I mix my Brix at 2/3 strength anyway (10 ml per 16 ounces), and my humidity/PM issues are gone, so I think I'll try more frequent applications. Thanks!

Too bad you guys can't figure out how to grow some nice dense nugs. :cheesygrinsmiley:

is it possible for one plant out of 5 to seed itself? My cotton candy has seeds starting on the lowest nugs, I cut a few off to make sure and they are definitely seeds. I am not seeing that on any other plants, though... maybe it's just harder to tell on the others but I'm pretty sure. My durban also threw some nanners within the past 2 days, don't know why. It's been getting kinda cold here, so maybe that's why?

I'm sure it's not the kits fault, most likely a light leak somehow. What's the recommended procedure you think I should take? Should I cut down the cotton candy or the durban?

It may not be a light leak. If it is, you'll have goofy looking leaves.

Most likely it's just false seeds. I get them on certain strains. They won't grow. Nothing to worry about. Same with the nanners.

FYI, it happens due to plant stress sometimes. Most of the time, it's just a peculiarity of the strain.

I don't think they're false seeds, doc. Some of them were starting to develop the tiger stripes, and I cracked them open to find the lil' baby seedling thing.

anyways, here's some bud porn!
