Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Doc,

A few more pics of the clones that had some curling and twisting and at the time you thought that they might be energy challenged and that they had no necrosis so not to worry much. Now they are showing signs of necrosis and drying up. Seen this symptom a time or two in the outdoor. Also this is the same soil that was cooked with very hot temps. You mentioned I believe the pro mix running a bit hot with phosph. Thoughts on this condition?

I think I am just going to bag these 6 cuts and start off with what I know to be properly cooked soil. They don't look strong and tbo they were just an experiment in cloning anyway and if they just don't have that look no sense in running them. The wild thai on deck looks amazing and are really taking to the HB soil in which the have been in a week now.

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Hi Doc,
Just starting our harvest. Tonight cut the Lemon Thai branches that looked ready. Did our first bud wash. Thought you might like to see the dirty water in bucket #1. As you know I grow for a patient and do not partake myself, but forgot to use gloves and we are having a very cheerful evening.

Hey Doc just a question about the 6-5-3 mix, I read this post:
1 gallon pots with FFOF, amended with 1/4 cup rock powders; Limestone/Soft Rock Phosphate/Gypsum in a 6-5-3 ratio.-

And was wondering if that ment 6 1/4 cups of limestone, 5 1/4 cups of SRP, and 3 1/4 cups gypsum? And was that for 1 gallon or more of soil, I need 7 gallons worth.

Thanks.

I am really suprised to hear that youve been getting PM with that room and all its controllability. Glad you were able to figure out a way to safely use those meds. Do you think it was from getting infected clones somewhere?
Last year all my PM problems were thanks to clubs in HollyWood and Frisco that had infected clones. Ever since I started making my own from seed mothers NO MORE PM.

Not even going to lie, but what? Lol, sorry long day with 2 energetic kids.

I know exactly how you feel!

Let me make it even easier:

Take six measures of Calcium Carbonate, add five measures of Soft Rock Phosphate and three measures of Gypsum in a 5 gallon bucket, well mixed. Add this mix to soil at 1/4 cup per gallon of medium prior to cooking it. That might be slightly different than what I used to recommend back when I was doing that, but it will certainly work. The important thing is to make sure you cook the soil and have excellent microbial health so the plant can enjoy all that calcium.

Thank you very much that's better, I can take those in 1 cup measures right? And I assume tea shouldn't hurt anything but is there something extra I should add in my teas to help? I'm using info from shotta to help with my teas now, but I'm still learning.

Edit: is calcium carbonate for wine and beer making the same stuff for soil?

You could do much, much worse than following Shottafire. He'll definitely set you on the right path! I used "Nature's Own" for my microbial teas, when I was doing that. It was fantastic....but very strong...foamed like crazy.

Make sure you've got enough humus in the soil, don't overload it with guano's and meals....except steamed bone meal, and you should be pretty solid. High P no "N" guano, Steamed Organic Bone Meal, and maybe some fishy ferts or organic, non GMO fed chicken manure added as a drench from time to time....it should rock.

You want most of the nutrition to come from the rocks, not the organic material you add from time to time.

Yeah....they got issues. If they were put in the improperly cooked soil their roots might be right.

Calcium Carbonate is the same thing, no matter where it comes from. Just make sure you're getting CaC03 90% or better. The food grade stuff is merely more expensive....but it is pure and unadulterated. No problem at all using it.

Hello I am a new grower and have some question I'm growing northern lights mixed with big bud under one CFL that I leave on 24/7 is this ok

You've got a few things to learn bro....like all of us.

Here's a step by step to get you on the right path:

1. read tutorials on how to grow....plenty of good ones right here on 420
2. Get about 10 CFL's, use dual plugs plugged into other dual plugs....just get WAY more light on that plant.

specifically, you'll need to learn how photoperiod (time it's light vs time it's dark) effects cannabis, how to properly water and fertilize, etc. It might take you two hours.

In the meantime, reduce your light to 20 hours on 4 hours off......and after another week, go to 18 hours on 6 hours off. When you're ready to flower, go to 12/12.

You'll need at least 10 cfl's to get any product from that plant.

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Ok this might get a chuckle.......so it is time to take down a few outdoor Blueberry and Blue Dream hi brix plants. Get the wash ready(gonna use the kitchen sink and a few buckets) and bring in the chopped Blueberry 2 small plants 2 1/2 ft high or so(smells so damn good btw). Wifey walks in on me agitating the buds in the sink and and gasps "what in the hell are you doing are you crazy!". "I am washing the buds" I calmly reply. "That is insane you know you are gonna get mold don't you and your knocking off all the cyrystals and hairs too!" she says. "I know....I know it sounds kind of crazy but Doc Bud swears by it and so do some of his discipels." I explained. She replies" And who in the hell is this Doc Bud guy your always talking about?" I just started laughing and sprayed the swig of beer I just gulped all over the kitchen!
Fun times indeed.......

Ok so I washed one and not the other and I am just going to see if she can pick out the washed bud when they are done drying and after they get the trim job. Then I am going to show her pics of the water before during the smoke test and see if she can pick the one with all the crud still on it. That will be a laugh.

After seeing all that crap from just 2 plants really makes you wonder how we did not wash for so long. I am a believer and I have not even did the smoke/taste test yet.

Some pics.
