Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

So...what's to report?

Well, I'd say plenty. I've been adding a peroxide wash to the bud washing routine:

Peroxide 30 seconds to 1 minute.
Lemon Juice/Baking Soda 30-45 seconds
RO 30-45 seconds
RO 30-45 seconds

Here's what a bud looks like. Ever so slightly bleached, in a cool sort of way. Taste is more delicate but smoother than anything, ever, anywhere at any time. It's smooth like a vape hit but there's a bit of flavor. The effect is clear, clean and glorious....at least that's my biased opinion. Only two other people have tried it and I know they'd agree.

So, this means if you've been battling PM, you can safely harvest the buds that aren't really covered in it. Fight it, keep it under control as much as possible, cut out highly infected areas....up to 50% of yield if you can control the outbreak by pruning "backside" branches, etc. Spray, remove infected leaves.....whatever you can do to battle it back....and then kill what's left at harvest with the peroxide bath!

Also, here's another cool trick: fill your spray bottles with a couple inches of peroxide weekly to keep them clean, unstained and fresh.

Ragtag bunch of plants on death's door: Lemon Paki, Tahoe OG, some vegging plants or other.....pretty much covers it.

Doc, what plant is in the second to last pic? Looks familiar. Is it the same as the 3rd and 4th pics?

Doc, the ladies look fantastic. The Peroxide you are using is it the 30% food grade or the stuff at any store?

I'm using the 3% kind you can buy in the store. They have gallon jugs of it in grocery/supply type places.

Second to last pic is Tahoe OG. There's a couple others of it too.

Hi doc, good lookin ladies..how are you mixing your peroxide bath

Hey bro!

I use 3% and mix it 3 parts RO to one part H202. 30 seconds is a "minimum" dip. If there are signs of PM, submerge it for a whole minute.

The smoke comes out smoother and with less flavor.....but damn smooth. Smoothest ever....you can fill your lungs to the brim without any harshness, although it does expand.

The best part is PM is taken out of the picture for those who struggle with it.

There is something else I'm going to try:

PM can't stand temps of 100 degrees plus.....I'm thinking of heating up the water in the peroxide bath to about 120 degrees and doing a 30 second wash, then continuing with a normal bud wash. I'm just trying to guarantee the safest, best product possible....something I can recommend to ANYONE with the clearest of conscience:

This washed product is SAFE to ingest in any and all ways.....

I really need a bit more information to give you any useful advice or assessment....

Medium?
Environment? (temps, rh, light cycle, type of lighting)
Strain?

You've got lots of 3 bladed leaves in the first pic....which means either you've got a cut of SFV OG or you've got some stress from altering photoperiod from when the clone was taken....

Color is good.
Looks overwatered? CFL's?

Gimme some more clues!

I've been letting branches soak in 120 hot water for 5+ minutes with no ill effects. :thumb:

When I get an abundance of herbs in at work and I know there is no possible way I can use them all in a reasonable amount of time I wash them, this wash though contains like a cap of bleach to like 4 gallons of water. What it does is kills any bacteria that would rot out my herbs, as long as nobody touches them with bare hands, the stems are in a damp paper towel and they are kept cool, they last in the cooler for literally months.

Temp is around like 70 to 75 degrees and i thought it was underwatered because the top of the coir is turning a light brown. I'm Using 3cfls on jus the one plant and just have plain aluminum foil to reflect. I have a small fan blowing in the room but not on the plant directly because i thought it was drying out the leaves and thats why they were curling on the edges. was about to switch the light schedule to 12/12 but just decided to bend some of the branches.

First thing I tried is a bleach wash....and product tasted like bleach! I used a capful for 4.5 gallons of water.

You're in coco then.....I'm not your guy. I do not understand how to grow in coco. Sorry.

I'm your soil guy. Coco is very different.

As far as CFL's go......you'll have a hard time all around getting a decent yield. I'd put like 8 or 9 CFLs all around the plant, keep it small, and don't water till it's just starting to droop.

Damn, but makes perfect sense. We aren't trying to keep the leaf alive. If it's possible or one is handy, I usually use a salad spinner to dry them out after the bath. I've never really noticed any bleach flavor on the herbs, I've used it on lettuce too. Makes it last forever without browning as long as a knife didn't go through it.

I think the oils and resin might soak up bleach more than the cells of the leaves? I'll try it again one of these days.....but for now, I'm VERY happy with the peroxide wash. It ramps down the flavor---like turning down the volume a bit----but I personally prefer a super-smooth, mildly flavored smoke. No exaggeration, I can take a monster hit from a joint and have zero trace of harshness, no throat hit....just smooth, delicious smoke. In a bong with a couple chambers you might as well be vaping.

For those who don't want a milder tasting weed (this technique has no ill effect---or any effect--- on the psychoactive properties of the product) I'd suggest only using this technique if you think you have PM or budrot, etc.

For me....and I'm sure you feel the same way....anything with the "Doc Bud" seal of approval must be:

1. superb quality
2. safe to ingest in every way.

Sick folks use my products and I must be able to look them in the eye and tell them without a shadow of a doubt that my products are the safest, highest quality products available. Everything's gonna get a 30 second bath in the H2O2 from now on!
